From an artists perspective, i'd say go in at least with an idea of the tattoos the artist youve chosen has done that you like and explain why you like them (colours, layout,subject etc) and at best say youd like something along those lines.
dont go in saying 'do what you want', no one ever really means that and if they explain something they'd be stoked to do and you say, yeah but not that. well, then you will have a deflated and slightly annoyed artist in your hands, vague guidance is great.
the artist puts out there work theyve enjoyed or that shows their ability, all within the realm of what that customer asked for, however, so just cos you like what you see them posting doesnt mean it's what they want to do, it might be something entirely different that they simply havent gotten a chance to tattoo ever before.

In Qld, Australia now, it's common to be refused from venues for having hand, neck and face tattoos. Especially on the Gold Coast.
The way I see it is that these venues are mainstream. Fuck mainstream. Never wanted to mix with them fuckers anyway. Give me a dingy blues club any day of the week.

I just finished this on my back calf, with Rob Ryan at Temple. Having him do a Divine Mother in the presence of Freddy was a bet. Friends don't understand why I'd want this as an agnostic... shrug.

Welcome Hassan!
Never heard anything about tattooing in Pakistan. Would be very interested to hear about how common it is and what kind of attitude people have towards it over there. What kind of styles and motifs are popular? Are people doing tattoo adaptation of traditional Pakistani folk art? Do you as an artist, and people with tattoos, face discrimination? I have a lot of questions. Any info and stories would be very interesting.

Some from the past year. I think I did them in this order too. Watercolors and black marker.
It's fun to look back and see what you keep doing over and over again, and what you would do different now.

I redrew some daggers from a sheet of 1920s flash by an unknown artist that is in Flash From The Past. I had a lot of fun with this.

And here are a couple of other things I've done that I don't think I've put up here. The hannya is from a couple of months ago, the roses I did sometime last year.

I got the Gorilla Fudo Myo-o from Marc Nava last Friday at the Bay Area Convention. Definitely a nice addition to my squidpants.

I have a tattoo that is probably fairly similar to what you're thinking of:

This is Seth Wood's interpretation of the Necronomicon and it goes from my shoulder to about an inch or so above my elbow. He initially did it without the illustrations in the book, but when I was at the shop at a later date he saw it and said that it needed that little bit extra so we booked that and he put those in. I wanted the 20-sided die, the other things were his idea and freehanded in. I am especially stoked on the tiny little Baphomet. It could be covered by a quarter, total fine line madness there. Because they're so detailed, I'm not sure how well the book illustrations will age, but they're a little bonus and even when they fade and blur together they aren't going to greatly change the integrity of the tattoo.
So yeah, it can be totally workable though I think you'd need to find the right artist to be able to pull it off properly.
