@ThatGuy gotta give a shout out to http://behind-the-circle.com/ in Brooklyn. Easy to get to, walk ins.

http://www.nyhctattoo.com/ if you want to support the scene.

    Cheers.

And please, while you're here, do NOT stand in the middle of the side walk while I'm trying to get home from work haha.

I will do my very best not to act touristy... haha.

  2. I have been using what I think of as @BrianH 's technique of re-wrapping the tattoo.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely look into that. All my tattoos up until now have been completely dry healed, and this is the first time I've had scars form. Not a huge deal, just want to prevent it from happening with the next one.

both my forearm tattoos were long healers

Yeah it's definitely an area that is difficult to keep still. Basically, every time I twisted my arm the scab broke slightly.

  3. A couple of months ago I had the inside of my forearm tattooed. Healing it was a bitch and despite taking as much care as I could, I ended up getting some scars and colour loss. I was tattooed at a convention with an artist who travels a lot, so unfortunately having it touched up really isn't an option.

Anyway, in a few weeks I will be getting my other forearm tattooed so I'm basically looking for tips on how to avoid this happening again.

I wrote to him that I wanted sort of a meditating figure in a clash/swirl/hole/?!? of energy. Let's see how it turns out, I'm super stoked! Last time I got tattooed was when Rudy and Iain finished my back in march so I've been really getting the itch since. What are you getting?

Sounds awesome. Will be interesting to see what he comes up with. I'm getting a Kali, so that should be fun.

  5. How about something like these (even if they do look a bit dorky)??

    Ultra Athlete® Pants

I think I'd prefer sweating in a pair of jeans over wearing those in public... haha.

Jeans in July in Barcelona wasn't the most comfortable experience ever, but I dealt with it and the tattoo healed great and super bright, so it was worth it.

Discomfort is temporary, tattoos are forever.

  6. if you use the word "trousers" i think you've given up on being cool :)

i've used an ace bandage to cover a new tattoo when wearing shorts in warm sunny weather, worked pretty well and didn't interfere with healing

Haha, it was only a matter of time before I ran out of coolness. Ace bandage, that's a great idea - will cover it, and should be breathable as well. Cheers.

  7. A couple of days ago I jumped on the chance to get my leg tattooed next Friday. It wasn't until I had booked and paid my deposit that I realised that I'm going to a music festival in Croatia 5 days later.

Obviously I'll stay out of the water completely, and the sun as much as possible. It will most likely be around 30 degrees celcius (85F) though, so wearing jeans the whole time might be hellish. Trying to think if there might be some other type of trousers that I can buy that will help cover up my calf, and keep me cooler than jeans would. Damn!

  8. Well alot of people on this forum live in the US I believe. I live in holland, I could go but its kinda expensive to fly there and hotels etc. Money i could spend on a tattoo :p.

But what was disapointing for you?

No doubt most people are based in the US. Although I figured since the tattoo scene is pretty big in Copenhagen there should at least be a few on here. The convention was quite small (again, comparing to London), and most of the artists were... underwhelming.
