  1. Hello Everyone,

I am not a tattooer but have been drawing and painting for fun for the last couple years. This thread was initially very helpful in regards to materials. Thanks to everyone who shared here. I have attached a few of the recent things I have done. These are all on Arches and painted using a combination of PH Martins and FW liquid acrylics. I have really enjoyed the process and watching things very slowly improve. It sure beats watching TV for late night activity. I'd love to hear some thoughts from those with more experience. Great forum!

    Nate

  2. Also curious if you are selling supplies to folks who have their license or the general public?

I just checked out these peoples instagram and I think the picture at the link below answers your question about if they are selling supplies to the public. There is a picture of a giant billboard advertising their supply company. Instagram

I'm not a tattooer, but I have to say I find this really irresponsible.

I'd go but I refuse to pay $40 for one day plus a mysterious $6 fee. I understand there's a lot going on for your money, I guess it's just not my scene and I'd rather support tattooing than a bunch of bands I don't care about and a bunch of unfinished 'show cars'...

I'm not trying to shit on your parade, it'll be a fun time, just not my thing I guess. If you want to go to a real tattoo convention hit up the SFO convention put on by State of Grace in October...

It was fun overall but I would agree with your assessment. There was some great tattooing going on though and i came home with a really nice eagle from Phil Hatchet-Yau (picture below). That definitely still made it worthwhile. I'd love to come check out the SFO convention. I may need to make it up there this year.

  4. To each their own, but I guess I don't really see the point of something like this as a tattoo. To me, if you are going to get tattooed, why not get something that is an artistic representation of whatever you are trying to get across and not just some text or in this case ones and zeros. There are tattooers who do really beautiful lettering in a very artistic manner and I'm sure the same thing could be done with something like this, but the one in the picture is pretty poorly executed.

That said, everyone should do what they want. I just don't think too many people would be happy with something like this in the long run.

  5. The more tattooed I get, I think I am much more willing to go into an appointment with a less specific idea. There are so many images that I would be happy with and as long as I am going to someone who I know will understand a general look that I am going for, the less concerned I am about being picky about every little detail. I think this often makes for a better tattoo when you let the artist just go for it and do what they do.

  6. Thanks Graeme!
