I'm allergic to lanolin ,I didn't know I was until I used lubriderm on a tattoo,it burns.

I can read it just fine and I think it's cool as hell.

Tattooers charge what they charge.Some charge more than others,it doesn't mean they are ripping you off.I get tattooed by people I know are good and I don't care what they charge,I just pay it and I tip well.I get good tattoos.

I got this one last week from Lukas Speich at XXX Tattoo in Lucerne, Switzerland.
I stole the idea from a story that Yoni Zilber retold from Bill Salmon, in a Podcast... there was a dude who saw someone's tattoo and said, "That's a pretty cool tattoo. I got a tattoo also, but mine's a little cooler." He showed the tattoo and there it was... a little cooler. 😉😉 
I chose the classic Igloo Playmate, but the wording was too small to tattoo. So, I asked Lukas to add a little Swiss flag and he went with a red cross. It's kinda funny to me, as it now looks like it could be used to transport an organ donation.

The itch comes faster after every tattoo.

I absolutely love the atmosphere in the shop I go to - they are a fine and marvellous bunch of people and it really does make a difference.  The experience is always filled with laughter, positivity and a sprint of adventure - It's fantastic to see how genuinely enthusiastic they all are about their art and they have created a place that is truly inspiring.  I have a fair amount of work done now and I would not be interested in adding to it in a place that was not in some way magical and inspirational - but that's just me. 🙂

You have more of a chance of F***ing it up than making it better if you start monkeying around with it. Go see a really good artist to get some ideas of what to add around it.
There's nothing wrong with that tattoo.

I really don't think anyone was purposely being rude to you.  I think they were taking time out of their personal lives and applying their knowledge of tattoos to try to help you.
If you stick around awhile you'll see that the same question gets asked time after time and it's difficult not to occasionally get frustrated by people's impatience.

LOL. Every tattooist should have that posted on their wall with a sliding scale below - starting at $150/hr on the left and going down to $20/hr on the right. 

I don't know if you can call it Superstition and i'm not narrow minded or racist, but I personally like when people stay whitin their own culture.
I'm not Japanese so I don't get a koi, and I'm not from New Zealand so no maori for me.
I just want traditional and that's not a matter of taste, while I like all GOOD Tattoos.

Too much "meaning" for me, just get whatever you think looks cooler...

This is a conversation best had with your tattoo artist.  If I were you I'd just add more tattoos around it; they don't have to be "connected" per se.  But if you want one cohesive sleeve then you probably should have started with a design in mind.

my wife and myself went to high school together,we dated for a little while back then(1976/77),we were the same age and same grade,
we graduated and didn't see each other for 28 years,we  both ended up single(we both went through a marriage/divorce) and a mutual friend that knew I was always hot for her mentioned he saw her at a party,anyway,fast forward to 2005,we got together and got married.
the reason for this post though is this,tomorrow night(10/20) we are going to our 41st HS reunion.(we didn't have a 40th)   we graduated in 77
should be a kick.

To be honest I cant see the problem with this one. The work looks clean and the lines are good. In fact I like it. I generally like colour and dislike sad looking black and grey work anyhow,. Ive seen some shocking black tribal ten times worse than this one.
A bad tattoo is one which has been done badly, this actually looks like it turned out how the client expected.
However if we are talking about personal taste then there's some tattoo snobbery going on here. 
This tattoo I would say was done in the 90''s early noughties and high chance it was bad ass at the time (20years ago) The anti tribal brigade came out in force after that period because artists got bloody tired of doing them. 
Personally its wrong to criticise a tattoo that's done well. Not everyone wants a 3D skull with a dagger through its forehead.

Almost every day someone comments on how good my tattoos look.Its because they never see the sun.
