(AP) -- Lincoln police said a woman tried to slice a tattoo of her name off her boyfriend's neck. Capt. Anthony Butler told the Lincoln Journal Star that the 19-year-old woman and her 30-year-old boyfriend had gotten into a dispute around 6:40 p.m. on Friday. That's when she tried to cut off the tattoo. Butler said the boyfriend suffered only minor injuries, mostly scratches. Other details were not available. ___ Information from: Lincoln Journal Star, www.journalstar.com Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2010/11/15/national/a121628S66.DTL#ixzz15Po0jC00
  3. So over the past few weeks I've had some conversations outside this forum with people on tattoo coverups and seem to be seeing more than the normal amount for me. I've taken some of the tips from this thread in LST tattoo forum Tattoo Cover up or removal and shared it with the individuals. But have had some observations lead to assumptions that I want to turn to hypothesis by asking on this tattoo forum that I thought could be fun and intriguing. One of my friends was edge at a very young age as she grew up around lots of east coast edge kids that were also family members then broke it a few months after she turned twenty-one. During here teen years see accumulated four different straight edge tattoos. She has been in the process of covering them up for some years now but the one that really catches my eye is this large belly rocker of the three X's covered up by big roses. I understand three large X's in black ink are going to be difficult to cover and the tattooer did a good job except if you look closely then you can totally see them. So my first questions based off of some years observations and now reflections not only with this individual but others are: -Are roses and panthers the most common "objects" used to cover-up tattoos? -What other ones are common "goto" tattoos for tattoo coverups? Onto the other part....so another one of my friends has this tattoo outlined on her back that she refuses to let people see so much that when she's at the beach or other warmer climates she opts to wear a "tank-kini" rather than a bikini as she dislikes the tattoo that much. It is just an outline and spans about three quarters of her back in more of a "frame" manner and not so much the center and wants to do a tattoo cover-up. She has been considering the laser then coverup route and if she was in DC I'd send her to Karl Hedgepath at Jinxproof for laser and coverup but she is in the Bay Area. So the next set of questions: -Bay Area good tattoo laser removal businesses? -Bay Area good tattoo coverup tattooers? -Also to make this more informative for other locations...Who in you opinion does the best tattoo coverup? If you answer this please list the tattooers name, shop, and location (if you know all that info). Of course if you have before and after photos share them!! Thanks and let the schooling begin.........
  4. This comes after a comment Julio made: "this guy rolled through the shop in san jose once. kinda rockabilly type with is rockabilly girl. he did have a mustache and goatee going on. but under the mustache you could see he had a mustache TATTOOED on him!!!!!!! it was kinda in the shape of the pringles guy. he wanted a day of the dead sugar skull of him and his girl with a dagger. i drew one with the silly mustache. he never came back to get it tattooed. i think i offended him with the funny mustache on the skull that represented him." There have gotta be more folks holding on to drawings like this that never happened!
  5. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/10/26/australian-man-tattoos-lewd-image-friends/?test=latestnews Australian Tattoo Artist Allegedly Inks Lewd Image on Friend's Back Published October 26, 2010 A 21-year-old Australian man has been charged with assault after allegedly tattooing an image of a penis on his friend's back, according to the Courier Mail. The 25-year-old victim was visiting the amateur tattoo artist at the man's home last week when he was talked into getting a tattoo, according to the paper. The man wanted a yin and yang symbol tattooed on his back, but allegedly got a 16-inch tattoo of a penis with an obscene gesture instead. Australian authorities said the incident followed an argument between the two. The victim also says he was punched and thrown out of the man's house. The 21-year-old tattoo artist has been charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and is due to appear in court next month.
  6. So, I know the PC answer here is that our children must wait until they are 18 like everyone else, BUT... I know of 2 instances where someone let their kid get tattooed before 18 and I sort of don't have a problem with it (for them). Seems hypocritical since I made my son wait until his 18th birthday and threatened him that if he got a tattoo from anyone but my husband he would NEVER get tattooed at our shop and also filled his head with all types of cleanliness, health and safety issue horrors, all in an effort to keep him from going elsewhere or letting some sketchy sketcher fuck him up before he turned 18. In our case it worked. He waited and got a really nice tattoo for his birthday. But... SEVERAL of his friends have gotten tattooed before age 18 in street shops, just walkin in. WTF? Anyhow, the first person I heard of was a guest tattooer at our friends' shop in Denver. His daughter had been begging for a tattoo since she was about 8 years old. He kept putting her off and making her wait, thinking she would grow out of it and change her mind. She didn't and by 12 years old was talking about it non-stop. So then he set up a series of goals and expectations for school work and chores and behavior, and told her if she did it all she could get a (tiny) tattoo. He figured she would never be able to comply with the entire list. She did everything he asked her to do. So, then he was kind of stuck and had to honor his word so he gave her a tiny dime sized star on her shoulder. (Her name is Estrella.) That parlayed into 3 more stars, one for each family member so she now has 4 little stars. I still think 12 is too young, but after hearing the entire explanation from this guy it somehow started to sound ok in this instance. The second is an acquaintance of mine who's let her son who is 15 get a few tattoos. (I think he has 4 or 5 now.) He's grown up in a tattoo shop and will most likely tattoo for a living. I think he is already learning. And there are other circumstances that I won't mention here, but if you knew this family, Im telling you it just wouldn't seem that weird for mom to allow this. In my mind 15 is different than 12, but both are not 18 at the end of the day. I think my final stand is that it's not ok for my family but I can see how it might be ok for others. Mind you these are parents (or friends of the parents) tattooing their own kids in their own shops. Im not in any way suggesting that one should ever tattoo a minor that you didn't personally know, even if the parents were there. I know my husband would never do it, under any circumstance. So the question of this thread is... is it ever ok?
  7. I posted this as a blog by accident, but seeing as how I'm soliciting your stories, too, I think it's better as a thread. Scott asked for stories, so here's mine. There was a guy in Austin in the early 90s who tattooed out of his house for years. He wasn't bad, and the price was definitely right (I think he charged $60 an hour). He didn't have an autoclave; he used a pressure cooker, instead. Sounded good enough for me. Right after I got my first tattoos, I knew I was hooked, but I also knew that I was poor, so I went to see him about getting more work. I looked through his book (which included a cover-up over a peace sign that said "I WOULD'VE TAKEN A BULLET FOR JOHN LENNON" under it) and found a Haida Indian dogfish shark design that I liked. I'd seen some of his tribal and thought he did a good job on it, so I booked an appointment with him. I showed up at the agreed-upon time and he stenciled it on. Then he grabbed a 3-round, which he proceeded to do the entire 3.5-hour tattoo with. You can see part of it above the gypsy cat in this pic: The best part: towards the end, one of his friends stopped by. He'd just come back from Amsterdam and was telling my artist all about it. Then he said, "Hey...you ever smoke hash?" My artist said, "No--but I'd be down to try!" So with my tattoo almost finished, he proceeded to take a smoke break and hit some hash for the first time in his life. He did the last half hour of my tattoo uber-stoned. I'm sure lots of you have better stories, ones involving Walkman motors and guitar strings, so please share them.
  8. I was lookin at your lists in the blogs of who has tattooed you and I have two lists..ones from years ago, like bob shaw, etc and ones newer like mike wilson.... Any how the biggest regret i have is i had a chance to get tattooed by greg irons and....PASSED!!!!!!!!!!! thats right...PASSED!!!!!!!!( i may have told this story elsewhere) I was visiting SF I think it was 82...and we were up there on broadway and greg was working the night shift at deans and he was putting a dragon off the wall on a friend of mine and i was making time with this chick so we went for a walk to a park below broadway like kinda behind the mabuhay gardens and i started picking her locks and never made it back to the shop!!!!!!!!! Of course hindsight is 20 20....and you know....regrets...like trading some PR machines for a set of rare books in 85....losing a 57 goldtop les paul to a pawnshop for 100.00 that hangs in freedom guitar with a 10,000 dollar pricetag...all that was material things...but that tattoo...well that is the pinnacle of regrets for me....I would still have it today.... I cannot even remember the girls name.....
  9. I really didn't know what to post but I wanted to get the ball rolling for me. This was a piece I did last week. My buddy that helps me with my website came to me and wanted something to do with with "Bad Luck Good Speed". It is supposed to be "God Speed" but he didn't want anything religious and he considers himself to live in the fast lane. Haha. Anyways, I had a really hard time trying to think of something to do... what I finally came up with is a horse running away from a nuclear bomb strapped to his back. Kinda saying, you're fucked no matter how fast you run. Anyways... any thoughts, feedback or anything would be tight. Thanks!
  10. Kelly Osbourne: Why I'm Removing Most of My 15 Tattoos Credit: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Wednesday – October 06, 2010 – 5:21pm Comments (11) » Kelly Osbourne isn't done reinventing herself! The slimmed down star -- who recently told Us Weekly about how she's managed to keep off almost 50 pounds after a year -- plans to get most of her 15 tattoos removed. Osbourne, 25, announced her decision to undergo laser tattoo removal in her weekly column for British magazine Closer (as reported in The Daily Mail.) PHOTOS: Celebs' weird body art She had her revelation recently while shooting the flick Should've Been Romeo, when makeup artists covered up the ink. "I can't say I missed them!" she wrote. "I met with my dermatologist and I'll start the laser treatment as soon as I have time," the Dancing with the Star alum said. The erasure process won't be short and painless, either. "It will take several months, and while I'm not looking forward to the pain, I've heard it hurts less than getting the tattoo," Osbourne wrote. "I hope so!" PHOTOS: Kelly's amazing body transformation She doesn't hate all of her tattoos, Osbourne explained. "Some still have a special meaning, like the matching ones my brother Jack and I have of each other's names, but now I feel like some were a mistake." Last year, Osbourne told British talk show This Morning that getting inked was "my way of self harming, because I really knew it would upset my mum and dad," she admitted of parents Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne. PHOTOS: How other stars went from hot mess to hotness "I was miserable and I just went and got all these tattoos and I don't know why. One of them is a keyboard and I don't even know how to play a piano!" She added: "As you get older, you realize that you don't want to be defined by your tattoos, because that's not the type of person that I am."

  12. So when writing a tattoo post recently I had this idea to start a new game like a "Where's Waldo" type game for tattoos. So rather than trying to find a guy in a hat with glasses and stripes I thought we could post a picture of a tattoo and let everyone take a swing at what the mistake(s) of a particular tattoo are. This is not too pick on people but to remind us as customers and tattooers to double and triple check the stencil before we get tattooed because bottom line as the tattoo consumer if we give the go ahead after looking in the mirror or what have yous the tattooers tells you to do it is our, the customers, mistake. So to kick it off, here is a tattoo, "Man's Ruin", on the inside of one of my arms. It was hard to get a good picture but this should work if not let me know and I can try to get an even better picture of this tattoo mistake. Let the tattoo games begin....heckle on...
  13. 4 laser sessions over 1 year period Wish I had a before photo first photo is after the laser, but was black line work to start with, still looks like a cover up but was able to get some color in it as well
  14. "Heroes" starlet Hayden Panettiere likes to show off the tattoo she has running down her left side, but it seems to have been misspelled. Often visible above her dresses for the first word, the tattoo in full reads "Vivere senza rimipianti," which is meant to be "to live without regrets" in Italian. Unfortunately for Hayden, her tattoo reads "rimipianti" instead of "rimpianti," adding an extra "i." here is a shot for the fellas on here:
  15. Not every tattoo has to have a deep, symbolic meaning. Some of my favorites are actually quite juvenile and stupid. Only post if it's actually a tattoo you personally have done or have on your own body. Oh yeah, and make me laugh! Here's mine to start it off. To really get this joke you need to know it's located on my right inner thigh  Tattoo by Juan Puente 2008
  16. What is the biggest tattoo mistake you’ve made and/or seen? How about some pictures?
  17. The who, what, where, when, and why of your first tattoo with a picture pls?!?
