  1. Ok, time to ask and annoy everyone, but since this forum is also a great reference to anyone on the web, I hope this will be useful to other too! Sorry for my bad English for what concerns precise terms ! Anyways, I'm having a sleeve done on my right leg, the first three sessions were perfect but after two days from the fourth one I had my leg swollen and painful like this: Have to take into account that it was (it still is) August and it was really hot outside (and had that 4th time a lot of bleeding during the process), but I never experienced problems like these. The artist told me to see a doctor, so I took antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and within 3 days the swelling went away, so now my ankle is perfectly normal. The bad thing is that it's still F***ing painful! Exactly like a sprained ankle (I had problems on that ankle when I used to run years ago). I feel like a circle around my ankle and it's painful to walk. I took anti-inflammatories for the first week and then the pain slowed down a bit, so I can walk even if it hurts.. but some 20 days are passed and still I experience much pain on that area. I'm almost sure that it's a muscle-related issue, but really, I don't know when it will go away. I'm sure it's a question of time, but I'd like to hear some other calf/leg healing processes! The tattoo goes (so far) from the knee to the ankle (including the whole back calf), but the pain is on the non-tattooed ankle (hence there is no infection, no pus, no blood, no color problems on the ink). So it's something "inside" that the artist in her 4 sessions had "triggered". Doctors don't know anything so the only thing I could do in the future is see a specialist but really, it would be the first time ever in years of tattooing! This is it now: So it's perfect on the outside and there's no swelling and such, but still the pain remains. The doctor told me it's due also to gravity, to the fluids going down and to the constant use of the legs (in fact I have no pain when I'm on my bed!).. 'cos the whole tattooed area (calf, shin, lower knee) is completely unaffected from pain.. I keep on asking myself wheter this could be classified as a normal "difficult healing" or not (on my left leg I have only tattoos on my "upper calf" and the artists never went near the ankles).. I saw that for everyone it's the worst part so I'll wait in order to see an orthopedic (I don't even know what they could say!).. any opinions to share for your general healing in the ankles-shin-calf area? Thanks!! (Yeah I'll see an orthopedic but doctors usually aren't anyways really tattoo savvy so I'd love to hear other experiences on lower leg healing )
  2. Hello! I wanted to share with you my experience with the healing time because I found some differences depending on the tattooed area! I don't know if it's because of my after-care products or because of my skin (I know it heals faster and better than usual), but my tattoos heal super fast. For the back tattoo (a big area) the scabs started appearing the 3rd day. In just 3 days it was peeling! and then the 7th day all the scabs just dissapeared, maybe a little bit dry. But now after 10 days after the last session it is perfect, smooth and the ink is just bright and settled super perfect. But then I retouched the ankle cat tattoo (not small, but not super big as my back tattoo. You can see them on my gallery) and it started peeling after 1 week, and the scabs dissapeared after 16 days. Now after 17 days it is a little bit dry but it healed perfect anyway, nice and regular colours. So, my super big back tattoo healed 100% in 10 days and my ankle one, after 17 days, isn't even 100% healed, maybe in 2 or 3 days it will be as perfectly healed as my back one. So I realized a super big difference in the healing time for both areas!!! I have to say that I used Lush products (first Ultrabalm 5 days, and then Dream cream) for the back one (vegan and natural) and Tattoo goo for the ankle one. Did you experienced such a difference in the healing times depending on the area? If so, why is this happening? Or maybe it's because of the products? I heard nice reviews abou tattoo goo, so it's strange that it slows the healing process... Even when the ingredients are different, they're all natural in both products so I don't think any of the ingredients of tattoo goo could be slowering the healing process, that's why I guessed it could be just that different areas heal different. Any opinions?
  3. This is for tattooers that have hand tattoos. I'm getting my hand tattooed soon and was curious how the healing and swelling will affect my tattooing. I'm getting tattooed the first day of a show and thought I might try and put it off until after so I could work but wasn't sure. Will wearing gloves and sweating in them fuck it up pretty good? I'm assuming it would. Any answers would be much appreciated.
  4. Hey guys, I'll add a pic later in the thread but I recently got a bicep tattoo, 3 days ago, decent size (a cover-up) and my bi-cep is the size of a ham. I had a similar experience with my forearm. Anyone else experience this?
  5. I'd love some feedback from experienced collectors who have had a cover-up done... I had my first cover up experience tuesday night and it has been burning since. The cover up itself (simply an outline right now) was no more painful than any other tattoo I've had, but the healing experience has been different. The areas where I've gone over the old (10 years) tattoo is super sensitive and burning. Is this a normal thing where cover-ups are concerned? If this is normal, then I can stop worrying that I've done something wrong. If it's not typical then I will have to investigate everything I've done to figure out why I'm having a different reaction. Thanks for your input~
  6. So I just posted that I had taken my sister in for her first tattoo yesterday. Later on that night, as I took a picture for her, I asked her to finally take a good picture of my tattoo, now that it has been 9 months... Not to say it looks bad, but it looks different. For example this is what my tattoo looked like within the first 5 minutes of being done Now 9 months later, this is what I have Both are unedited pictures. Have any of you noticed such a big difference between the new tattoo and what you have currently on your body? Its faded, some of the red in the head markings and in the trunk have faded to near nothing, some of the blue surrounding it has vanished... I am almost tempted to get it fixed but afraid that it will happen again! - - - Updated - - - thanks for moving this to the appropriate section! :)
  7. Just was inquiring had anything like this happen or heard of it; hubby and I just had more tattoos done. Mine healed just fine with those products ( cream and foam). Hubby used them in the past just fine. But this time his lower arm is just a huge rash, quite painful. Thank God his tattoo did not discolor or anything ( fleur de lys and dagger). But the doctor thinks it is an allergic reaction to those products... Will take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to heal ( some of the sores were bleeding..). Just buyer beware..,,
  8. Hey all, i would like to get any opinions on my new tat. i went in for a 3 hr sit, i wont really get in to the details too much of the tat or the tattooer. the dude completed the tat, suaved it up, put a bandage on it, on my way i went. 2-3 hrs later i remove the bandage no problems, i cleaned it let it dry, patted it out, applied a light coat of aquaphor. it was late i crashed. In the morning the tat looked fine, wash, pat dry aquaphor, i did this for 3 days, then went to lubiderm creme, 4 days now the whole tat was peeling, and had some smaller scabs, on one part i noticed the skin/ink mix part kind of pulled out, it looked funky to me, it scabbed good, this never happened to me on any other i have. so the next day, i pushed some what hard on a3 of the scabs, and a clear liquid, and pus, came out, need i say that one has fallen off, but another scab has now appeared, i think i got a minor infection from the tat, because the shop looks clean, the dude used new tubes, and needles, i never brought that on my tat, i also clean it with bare hand, and use new paper towels, while its healing. so after all that i have 2 questions, the one bad scabbed area is now a scar? what should i say to the dude when i go back for a touch up?
  9. Hello everyone! Hope everyones weekend went well. I was wondering if lines can appear to be crooked or not completely straight if it is scabbing right near the line work? I got the coloring finished and a little spot scabbed up but the rest is already finished peeling. The spot where it scabbed is under a line and makes it crooked. I dont know if its just because the scab is tightening my skin and making it appear this way or what! Will it stay this way making it have to be touched up? Thanks everyone!!! Cheers!
