  1. What is your opinion on tattoos and the work place? Are there certain careers where the visibility of a tattoo should matter or should it never matter? What are your thoughts around tattoos and professionalism? Do they go hand in hand? Or is it the performance of the individual that should be the bottom line? What has been your experience around tattoos and the work place? What is the location, city, that this experience has taken place?
  2. So my soon to be husband has a tattoo appointment on Dec 29 but our honeymoon starts January 18th. He's only getting line work this first sit. Is that too soon to be swimming? He'll wear sunscreen and all that- we're not really sun bathers. But salty, wet, humid... is this bad? What's the risk? Infection, ruined work, or both?
  3. Hello everyone....I am Bunny Switchblade! Some of you may already know me and some of you may not!!! I have been a tattooed individual for 28 years now and seen a lot happen over those years! I am a collector/enthusiast and have been tattooed by 49 artists to date! I seek out the best artists I can find to be tattooed by! I have a very satisfying collection that i hope to continue to be adding to for years to come! I also have a deep passion for the craft of tattooing and it's rich history.....although I have never seriously though of tattooing as a career! Anything else you would like to know please feel free to ask! I am an open book! I like to think of myself as a collector of fine art....with my skin being the canvas! Thank you for the chance to introduce myself!
  4. I'm pretty sure that the WTF section of the forum is the best place to post this. Here's a link to some of his work, in the off chance that some jackass tries to get a job somewhere using Juan's portfolio. Juan Puente: Tattoos
  5. So i just had my appointment with my tattoo artist last night, handed over some of my references. I Will be starting my sleeve January 14th 2011. The theme of the sleeve is going to be life and death. The style of it is going to be a traditional style with an extremely modern twist. So far we have in mind is a two lady heads, one living, the other dead, with a script saying "death comes quick, seek your fortune." And also a skull turning into a heart. I've already sent him tons of references, but if you guys have any cool pictures of skulls (Nick Chaboya, Bob Tyrrell kinda stuff) lady heads, daggers, hearts and whatever you think would be a cool addition to my sleeve that would be really helpful. I will update my progress in this thread as well, its a pretty big deal for me because this will be in an exposed area. thINK Tattoo This is the artist who will be working on my sleeve, if any of you are interested in thinking a look.
  6. So this lady came in the shop the other day to get her ribs worked on, and she brought in this lady to hypnotize her.. long story short, it didn't work. Funny as hell though.

    Hey

Hi there. Thought I should introduce myself before I go into full on lurking mode... Friend posted a link on Facebook - that's how I got here. Looking forward to checking out the site even more; thanks for having me. I get tattoos I don't give them. ~ Rita
  8. So the other thread on Best Post Tattoo Care has been very insightful and lots of good advice form both tattooers and tattoo collectors.....So I am wondering what is the number one advice you give your customers for tattoo care? Or maybe rather what is the one thing you want your tattoo customers to remember? The whole experience can be very stimulating and exhausting all in one and often important information is in one ear out the other as the body and mind is overwhelmed so would like to hear the tattooers opinions on this one. Thanks!
  9. Check out this link to this article that was fwd to me from Barbie: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/09/09/BAH11FBF25.DTL
  10. I've been tattooing for almost 4 years, born and raised in Phoenix. I am profoundly deaf. But refuse to let my handicap limit me in anything. I'm always open to learn new and old things alike to enrich my profession, the history, and lifestyle of tattooing. I'm constantly painting and making sure the next tattoo/painting I do whether its little stars or a nice piece be better than the last. I found this page through a post from Mario Desa on Facebook. I Read a few interesting posts that contained history, humor, and inspiration, Saw a few established tattooers that frequent here, not wanting to be left out of the fun, I decided to join.
  11. Bob asked me to sell a few paintings for him online....I wanted to contribute here before i put these up(swinggate thing) as i did not want to be parasitical(is that really a word?) anyway i sold a few already but here are the 6 left....he may have more this week and i will post them as they materialize...the first two are the ones in Bobs new book...I figured you guys get a shot at these without gallery mark ups...I sold one to my friend (and favorite human walking the planet, mike wilson, and the way i see it if you follow Mikes example in any endeavor in life whatsoever you are doing something right...after all he is the Wilsonian institute of tattooing is he not?) you guys can contact me here about them or sctattoo@sbcglobal.net Thanks prices are hellriders 900.00 drunksailor 900.00 horndog 900.00 panther 1200.00 tibetan skull 1500.00 and tiger 1,000.00
  12. MsRad

    Yo!

Hello to everyone! I'm Robin. Before anyone get's the wrong impression, I like McRad, I'm a girl, and my initials are RAD (yes I'm serious). I'm not full of myself I swear! I'm pretty much a shy, nerdy girl who likes hardcore, photography, and tattoos. I work at a museum, and while it's not always fun, it's usually pretty rewarding. I've been researching about tattoo and body modification history in California over the last 3 weeks so I can't complain too much. I'm slowly getting more and more tattoos. I've got 8 right now, including two that were done by Scott on the back of my arms over 3 years ago. I keep working on getting more coverage, but I'm a slow poke. Hopefully this year will be different.
  13. http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2010/09/15/20100915mesa-tattoo-parlor-lawsuit.html "A Maricopa County judge Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit filed against Mesa after its City Council denied permission for a tattoo parlor to open in early 2009. Mesa City Attorney Debbie Spinner said Judge Larry Grant of Maricopa County Superior Court probably would not release a written ruling for several days, but he dismissed the case orally after each side presented arguments. Angel Tattoo, operated by Ryan Coleman of Nice, France, and his wife, Laetitia, had sought permission to open a shop in Dobson Ranch in Mesa's southwestern corner. The Colemans promised to implement a "good neighbor" policy that included not offering gang or racist tattoos, limited hours of operation and other concessions. But several neighbors told the City Council in March 2009 that the shop was a bad fit for the area. The council agreed, with only Mayor Scott Smith voting to approve the application. The Colemans sued Mesa in March of this year, claiming the council had violated their civil rights, demanding monetary damages and asking that the court force Mesa to allow the shop to open. They cited as precedent a case where the owners of a tattoo shop successfully sued Tempe after the city revoked their permit. But Dennis Kavanaugh, a lawyer who represents southwest Mesa on the City Council, said there is no comparison between the two cases. "I have maintained that the city has had a solid legal position the entire time and that this claim is very different from the case in Tempe," Kavanaugh said. In the Tempe case, the city granted a permit, then revoked it after the owner had already made considerable improvements to the property. In the Mesa case, the Colemans made improvements to the property before any permits were issued. "Mesa is not anti-tattoo parlor. Each case is decided on its own merits as well as the qualifications and behavior of the applicant." Kavanaugh said that after the council's decision he offered to help Angel Tattoo find another location in the area, possibly in some new commercial buildings on the former site of a Motorola plant at Dobson and Broadway roads, about a mile and a half north of the Dobson Ranch location. He said a representative of the tattoo parlor never responded to that offer. Michael Kielsky, the Colemans' lawyer, was not available for comment Wednesday afternoon. "
