  1. Ultimately they are the tattooers fault, and there is nothing that you can do other than washing them daily. Doesn't mean your tattooer is a bad tattooer...I've gotten these from the best in the industry. Tattooing damages skin, especially with multiple pass pieces. Sometimes the craters heal fine and other times you need a touch up.

Oh ok, I wasn't sure if there was anything that could be done during the healing stage to fix them. Yeah, I've definitely gotten them before and I wasn't sure if this was like me not washing well enough or if it was on the artist's end. Thanks for the info!

  2. I've noticed a few times that I'll keep washing in the shower working on a slimy spot only to get out and realize it's an overworked spot where there is a crater.

I have a question: how do you usually heal these craters? I've gotten them before and I don't really know what to do with them. They usually just end up becoming weird scabs and I lose ink. Is that just the typical thing that happens or is there something that can be done during the healing process?

  3. Bruising and sensitivity of the area of or around the tattoo is normal and common. Skin is different and can heal differently. Generally you want to keep your tattoo from getting any scabs what-so-ever, but sometimes scabs can occur (especially on larger pieces when you're not used to healing them) The best course of action would be to talk to the artist that did your tattoo, because they will generally know more about what is going on with the healing process and be able to help.

Oh believe me, I've been through all of this before. This is my 11th tattoo. I have sensitive skin and I don't eat great, so I run in to issues healing all the time. Final product always ends up looking good, though!

  4. New member here. Figured I'd stop lurking and finally make an account. Don't have any of my tattoos uploaded yet, but I have 11, most of them being american traditional and couple being, well, just mistakes. Used to lurk here when I got my first "real" tattoo and was freaking out about how it was healing. Now that I don't get too freaked out during the healing process, I can finally look and enjoy others' artwork!
