  1. Thank you! Same similar names to my dyslexic mind. Firefox spell checker can't solve that shit.
  2. Who was it who did Stephanie Farinelli's penis necklace? My brain claims Filip Leu but google isn't cooperating and it says in Bodies of Subversion but I've lent it to a friend  Anyway, that chap, whoever he may (have) be(en) would (have) done a fab job of 'em.
  3. Nice to see chaps! I've got a few insects in the planning, stag beetle will be first I think. Hopefully next session. This bloke has a nice fly 'Teddy Boy' photographed by Ben Watts, London, 2004
  4. Sorry to say I've no idea, just what she put with the posting of the photo. Sounds right though. Am following up other threads ATM. My book list is getting very long indeed but I'm keeping the cash for tattoos just now.
  5. I've been rattling about in the back pages of google search again, looking for stuff on German circus tatooing and history in general. Came across the very interesting (to me) tattoo historian Anna Felicity Friedman, she looks a lot at pre 20th century stuff - Forum Search claims she's never been mentioned on here so thought I'd link for anyone interested. Can click through from here tattoohistorian.com to instagram / blog / etc. Quick taster: Drawing of prostitute's tattoos from Lombroso, 1876.
  6. I'm one lucky fucker indeed. This ^ is exactly what happened! You lot are a bunch of heros - I'd never have dared give the required trust without the advice I've had one here. Particularly what @hogg said about the beautiful Stuart Cripwell legs which is, of course, true of the circus girls too.
  7. My mother, yesterday evening after seeing photos of my first piece: "Oh, that's really beautiful! Well done. Are you sure it's permanent?" - - - Updated - - - (she's exempt from the Unforgivable Pedantry shown on Latest Tattoo Lowdown - she made my skin so her 'rights' trump Willem's ;))
  8. Oh, yes! I did know that but totally forgot about it in my excitement. Have now taken some and it's a great relief!
  9. Ach. it's nearly 3am here (CET) and I'm all speedy and sleepless. Is this a known side effect, why did you not tell me?
  10. Fuckity. Shall have a beer and an internal debate, after which I shall return. - - - Updated - - - done
  11. I'm a SAHM too, but still... TBBH the 'upside down wrist tattoo' is a thing, it'll date pretty quickly I'm afraid. That's the one and only argument I have against one doing what the fuck one likes to ones own body :) - - - Updated - - - here http://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=wrist%20text%20tattoo&rs=ac&len=15 I like the sentiment of the Be Still though, can relate to that. But, seriously, it's well worth looking into a visual representation (or maybe the text in another place) even if you do decide to go with your original idea in the end. To me, a rose on the solar plexus (as a random example) can mean Be Still at least as much as text on wherever.
  12. <bows> Thank you, thank you! All I had to do was lay back and think of England. - - - Updated - - - hmm, possibly not the most internationally known idiom to choose. - - - Updated - - - Ach, I'd love to but it's kind of not mine to share until it's finished. Well, to my twisted mind anyway  I suspect my firstborn would be very tasty, she's a good size too.
  13. Oh, erm. Hadn't realised I'd posted yet:confused: Is a long tailed-tit on a cherry twig (not blossom, leaf and one fruit), a bit bigger than my hand I suppose. So, yeah, if Willem decides it worth instagraming I'll link. Crikey, I really am thrilled!
  14. Finally I have my first tattoo! It's reasonably small and it's not finished but I'm beyond chuffed.
  15. No luck on the German connection but found some nice botanically tinted George Burchett stuff. Just wasting time really! Finally have my appointment on Thursday. - - - Updated - - - http://www.google.nl/imgres?imgurl=http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2234/2482649571_356637f725.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.photoree.com/photos/permalink/5404722-9209225@N06&h=500&w=395&sz=237&tbnid=M5WkfY7PLas1jM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=71&zoom=1&usg=__eh0BOGwlouZfcamL0P8zPnZuhC0=&docid=_lF7GOS5wXWhhM&sa=X&ei=sWJdUpevKOGc0QXp7YDoBQ&ved=0CDQQ9QEwAQ
  16. Yes, welcome and lets see that backpiece!

    Yo

Where I'm from the fox says "never be nasty to a heron". Regional variations may apply.
  18. Indeed! When I was a lass (mid 1990's UK in a run-down, low rent rural town) a hell of a lot of 'the girls' were getting tattooed - the main point seemed to be as an excuse to get ones tits / arse / thighs out. All the tattoos that were flashed at me were shit, without exception. The blokes just had lumpy tribal. No wonder it's taken me nearly 20 years to get started. Still 10 days to go  - - - Updated - - - (9 days in fact - last time the passage of time felt so painfully slow was in the last weeks of my pregnancies)
  19. You've had advice, very good advice at that. Here: Do that and draw, draw, draw and draw some more. - - - Updated - - - Draw on paper I mean, natch.
  20. Hello and welcome! Would love to see some photos of your tattoos.
  21. You're right of course, it's indisputable. I like to think of the tradition of repetition in tattooing as more like the old Blues Standards than "stairway to heaven" though - Bessie Smith did a great "ain't nobody's business" but I'd hate to be without Billie Holiday's version... - - - Updated - - - uurg. waffle waffle. I was actually replying to link to this page with more of her work, but, well, I sidetracked myself. Here: http://www.tattooartproject.com/tattoo-artists/line-marielle-kloosterman/ And Billie too - "
