  1. Also, did you ever share what you got from Chad K?
  2. As satisfying as snark can be, I wonder if these threads might not be discouraged if they were just ignored. Otherwise you're kind of granting their wish for attention. Let them die and sink down the page. I agree with you that it's a frustrating situation.
  3. @Rob I you got a great one. Lovely to meet you, too. I wish I had a lucky tattoo object now.
  4. Here are my yokai made by Dave Cummings. Love them so much. @a_beukeveld your hannya is gorgeous but that's no surprise! I bet it's already healing super well! I also got a great little skunk from Nick Colella!
  5. I'll probably be hanging around most of the day Saturday so am game for meeting whenever. Is it worth checking out on Friday when things are a little quieter, too?
  6. I've been terrified of this all week--surrounded by sick customers and a sick co-worker. There's a tea called Throat Coat that really helps with that gross first-days-of-a-cold feeling...
  7. I was *so worried* about how I would handle the pain for my first tattoo. Just try to calm yourself down enough to eat a meal beforehand, and you'll be able to handle it. If you're one of those people who gets queasy from nerves, soft ginger candies might help with that.
  8. Does anyone know if there's usually Saniderm for sale? It's my preferred way of healing and I was too lazy to order more in time for the convention. Any brand of adhesive derm is fine.
  9. Yes, but I think edited posts will also show as their edited versions even when quoted.
  10. If I'm not mistaken, he edited the original post.
  11. A lot of smart, interesting people get and make tattoos. I'm just speaking to my experience as a tattoo-getter but the older you become, the more it matters that you actively seek out people whose company you genuinely like (because they won't just fall into your lap), and shared interests work well for that. I don't think I'm part of any tattoo community nor do I feel entitled to a welcome, but I'm looking forward to going to my first convention.
  12. @Isotope when you described your idea to me, I have to say that I was thinking, hmm...okay. That worked out in the best possible way. The weird thing is that the roses just might be the toughest thing about that tattoo.
  13. If I had the opportunity to get a tattoo from Mike Wilson, I would take it. Just saying.
  14. Is anyone else now really curious about what the questions for the clients were?
  15. I will be there Friday through Monday morning. I'm going by myself so would be up for coffees and things like that. Tattoo on Saturday night!
  16. That frog is so good. Now I'm jealous. Great to meet you and @BrianH--apologies for being shy/awkward. I am so out of practice with the day drinking.
  17. @oboogieWait, is someone being a jerk about your Johnny Cash tattoo? For what it's worth, I think I prefer that approach to a portrait tattoo.
  18. I have a thing mostly ironed out with Dave for the convention, too! Pretty excited. He does great hannyas, really expressive.
  19. I usually let the size and shape of the tattoo dictate the placement, with the help of the tattooer. The more I've asked for input from the person making the tattoo, generally the better things have turned out for me, placement-wise. There is one tattoo I would move but whatever, getting more tattoos will bring symmetry and visual harmony. :) I like that rooster head a lot!
  20. Never been tattooed by Steve, but the most "famous" people who I've gotten a tattoo from have all been really low-key. Like, astonishingly so. A former poster here with way more tattoo experience than most said something that I really liked about most of these folks not being legends in their own minds.
  21. I was lucky enough to be able to see this exhibit at Middlebury last weekend. It closes this weekend and I wanted to encourage any New Englanders who might be reading this to go. The close-ups and life-size photos make it well worth the trip even if you own the catalogue.
  22. Those sleeves look so beautiful together.
  23. Wizards and Baphomets on big fat bellies are an excellent idea. Also vultures. Big flaming panther heads. Generally tough tattoos plus fat bellies =
