  1. Turned out great. Had to go everywhere for ox tails... But worth it.

S/p pho I am having a mix of jim beam and southern comfort and miller high life.

And watching grand torino and POSSIBLY crying at the end.

Ate at Farmer Brown in SF a couple nights ago. They used oxtail in their french onion soup. GOD DAMN that was good. Their pulled pork sandwich was pretty tasty too. Neat place

And a hell yeah to Gran Torino too. Great movie.

  2. almost ruined the finale for people who don't have satellite...

I've been avoiding this thread for this exact reason. With the combination of cutting our cable recently and finals week approaching for my girlfriend tv time has been minimal in my house. I can't wait to catch up on season 3 all at once by having a tv veg out day soon...

  3. If you don't care enough about our your body to spend money for a quality piece of work, do yourself a favor and dont get tattooed. I look at it as a piece of art that is there for a lifetime, paying reasonable money for something that will be there for 40 years (hopefully) is worth it.

I couldn't agree more with this sentiment. Complaining about what a good artist costs or consciously going to an artist you're not stoked on means you either don't value your body or you don't value your time/money considering you're probably going to go get a cover-up or laser later. Either way it's a shame.

On a more positive note for this thread, I did find an awesome Mediterranean restaurant by my house I would have never found out about if not for Yelp. I bike past it on a regular basis but it's hidden down an alley behind a bar and is amazing!

  4. Perfect example of why Yelp is irrelevant to the tattoo industry...

I just looked up Blackheart's yelp page because it's the shop I've been tattooed in most and am most familiar with as a client (which should matter for a yelp review...)

There is a one star review where someone is complaining about the pain of their tattoo. Really?!??

The same person felt they were overcharged but rather than say something at the time of the appointment, they called to discuss it with the shop helper later. That's like going to Best Buy, buying a TV, and then calling them two weeks later saying you saw a smaller, lower clarity TV at the pawn shop and want a partial refund on your big shiny new TV. Makes no sense at all!

Yelp is nothing but an outlet for complainers who want to feel empowered. Don't get me wrong, I've used it sometimes, but only for new food places and ALWAYS taking the ratings people give with a grain of salt. It's not difficult to read a little bit and see who knows what they're talking about and who's talking out of their ass.

Side note, my employer was hired by Yelp recently and all the attendees of the event (who were all the top Yelp reviewers if I remember correctly) were some of the most savage guests we've dealt with. Go figure.

In short, the passive aggressive keyboard heroes reign supreme on Yelp and it's sickening what a little power does to a whiny person.

  5. i've also heard this, and that he eats really healthy food on his days off (Ike from Ike's place was saying he eats salads mainly).

mmmm Ike's is another awesome place. did they end up reopening? I'm a little out of the loop now that I no longer live in SF

  6. God I love this show!!! Can't watch it before bed though because I start getting hungry and have to get out of bed to go cook. Have you noticed how much fatter he's gotten in the new season? It's starting to catch up to him for sure.

  7. i met a girl at work yesterday that had a banana, a bushel of grapes, a pineapple and an orange tattooed on each of the 4 fingers of her left hand. she called a fruit punch! it blew my mind, and i also wonder of the blood in my mouth would taste good if she hit me in the face?

holy shit. that's amazing!!! your location says Oakland too so I really hope I come across this girl sometime

  8. Revival Tour is coming up! Last time I saw Ragan he said he was trying to get Neko Case on the tour. Gonna be a good one.

Chuck's solo stuff is great. I'm really stoked on Chris Wollard's new record too. It's really really fucking good. With the exception of A Flight And A Crash, I think I like both of those guys solo stuff better than together on Hot Water Music.

PS - busy weekend and bummed to have missed Lucero last night. I love the Great American Music Hall too.

  9. Was that at the warfield? That was one hell of a show. And it has turned into a bro party.

yes and yes. amazing. singing along to Toby at the front of the stage while the douche in the green "irish" themed shirt RIGHT NEXT TO YOU AT THE FRONT OF THE STAGE stares at you is rather strange though. Do not like. There are some things I'll never get I guess

and damn Kenny- 97 they hadn't even put out a full length yet then had they? Crazy. That would have been rad to see Mike singing over those songs.

  10. Even when the guys in Lucero are so hammered they can barely stand up it's still entertaining at least.

I'm contemplating going to the Bedouin Soundclash show at Slims on 12/7 but last time I saw them the crowd was a bunch of bros and made it extremely unenjoyable. It's like seeing the Dropkick Murphys nowadays. Used to be a ton of fun for me but the last two times I've gone and felt awkward and out of place at their shows. And feeling awkward and out of place somewhere you used to have fun is just a bummer.

Also, the main reason I saw Dropkicks last was because H20 was direct support. It was fucking amazing to see H20, but ridiculous how many blank stares they got from the Dropkicks bro crowd. Ugh.

  11. I've been sporting the goatee/stache look for 18 years now, have only shaved it twice - in both cases, it was only gone for the time it took to grow back. I've let it spread into a full beard a couple times, but the goat fits me better.

I needs to upload a better pic of me somewhere...right now this is the best I've got available...

    aahzztele.jpg

that telecaster more than makes up for lack of beard in the photo! love telecasters. I just recently got a strat that's the opposite color scheme (black body and anodized silver pick guard)

  12. brined and smoked turkey

    mashed potatoes and gravy

homemade bread with smoked garlic rub

    fried sausage and stuffing balls

    grilled asparagus

    jalapeno cheddar biscuits

    sugary canned cranberry jelly crap

    pumpkin pie

peach crisp w/ vanilla ice cream

    sparkling water

    fuck yeah thanksgiving!

  13. as long as it doesn't turn into the b9 board, we're cool

what's the deal with the B9 board? I love the label but don't really do message boards much (and yes I realize I'm posting that sentence on a message board :/ )

As long as we're discussing hardcore and bridge 9, Ceremony's newest record fucking rips. soooo good.

  14. I made a really good Vichyssoise (don't ask me to pronounce that) recently. It's basically a leek and potato soup.

My next big cooking endeavor is smoking up a whole turkey for thanksgiving. mmmmm smoked meat.

  15. here's mine:

    12. It’s Not a Lie, It’s a Secret- Lemuria

Their new record is gonna be on Bridge 9. Crazy!

Thanks man. Good list as well. Southern rock by trio is a great song. How is mariachi el bronx? Heard it was awesome.

That record's phenomenal. I was blown away that a bunch of white boys could make such good mariachi music.
