  1. I would have been 3 or 4. I used to sit on my grandfathers lap and trace his tattoo's. He was the only one in my family with tattoos. It wasn't until I was 11 when I saw another person with a tattoo. She had a thigh piece of Alice in wonderland. It was like a totem pole of the characters. My mom met my stepdad when I was 12 and he was pretty much covered with tattoo's.
  2. I think they are differently entirely. My foot was the first thing I got tattooed. Even if I was wearing open toed shoes I could wear panty hose if it came down to it. Actually a big part of why I got my foot tattooed first was because I wasn't sure what line of work I wanted to go into and I knew it would be easy to hide.
  3. I remember sitting on my grandfathers lap and tracing his tattoo's with a covered pen/marker etc. I would have been about 3. There's a home video of me and my mom asked what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said a tattoo person. I was probably 5 at the time. I have no artistic talent so that plan went out the window but I love getting them. It's relaxing (albeit sometimes painful) to me. I live in Iowa. My first tattoo was done in a shop in town. I can't remember the name but it was the guy who my step dad went to. All my others have been done by Skin Kitchen Tattoo in Des Moines Iowa. I'm working on a half sleeve now. I'm going Sunday to see the final design and then hopefully the week after start the sleeve. There is a huge chance we will be moving to Switzerland in the fall and I'm excited about checking out some of those shops.
  4. I guess I envision pinks, purples, delicate (or maybe the word I should use is softer) lines. Flowers, butterflies. Different from the designs I already have. Why? ETA- sorry I just saw your other comment. I'll go look at the other thread. I've seen the first sketch and it's exactly what I think of when I told him that.
  5. The day I turned 18 my step dad took me to his artist. I got a shamrock with some orange shading around it on the top of my foot. I had wanted it since I was 15. I thought I would puke because it hurt so bad. Almost 10 years later it's still my favorite piece.
  6. The top of my foot. I knew it would be damn that sucked. I have an inner forearm piece and it comes right to the "ditch" and I had some trouble with that healing but not as bad as what I would imagine the whole ditch would be.
  7. I can only answer from the customers point of view. For the majority of mine I have known what I wanted the design to look like for the most part. Brought in references etc... I'll be starting a half sleeve soon and the only thing I told my artist was that I wanted it to be feminine and colorful. I'm going on Sunday to check out the design.
  8. Peacetree Red Rambler, Anchersteam and Wild Blue. Has anyone tried OAK arrogant bastard? I'm intrigued, but it's 16 bucks for a 6 pack...which is enough for a 30...which is a lot... It's good. Like someone else stated I can only drink 1 or 2 before I have to move onto something else.
