  1. I really don't see the bad thing about conforming to society? Like geeze, if you chose to get heavily tattooed, that is great, but the society we live in doesn't owe us shit for our personal choices. We make our choices, but if we want to take part in the professional world, we tailor to what the expectations are. And in the end, we benefit. They pay us money, so we get to live another day with food in our bellies, a roof over our heads, and money to get tattooed even more. I think there is this entitlement feeling among alot of people, thinking that they are entitled to do what ever they want, and the world had better accept or hell will be raised. But, you can do you without compromising your spirit and while fitting into what is expected of you.
  2. Thank you! Its just so much harder to heal than my shoulder. its still rough to the touch
  3. So this is it almost totally healed. I guess it healed ok.
  4. yeah let me show how it turned out. we got different writing and styles and colors but same name. and i wish my twin bro would get tattooed with me
  5. yes so another update.. it is about 75% flaked, but there are some stubborn scabs. it doesnt itch, it has a little tenderness/pain though. the red has turned alot lighter but the green still looks good.
  6. Anyone ever end up having a touching moment about or over a tattoo? Today I skyped my grandma for the first time, and I showed her the tattoo I had gotten of her name. Then my sister, who was in the room with her (she was visiting her in vegas) showed my grandma her tattoo of grandma's name... My grandma was speechless and then started crying. She was so touched that we cared enough about her to get it on us. She cried for like 5 minutes. I had to fight the tears on my side. She just thought it was the coolest thing and couldnt get over that we loved her enough to do it. Melted my heart a bit.
  7. meh so its flaking now, but i also have scabs... jesus the leg heals hard. I am afraid I am going to lose some of the color
  8. So quick update... my leg is already feeling alot better now that I am using lotion. Not as rough. Still not progressed in the healing, but at least not so tender. will keep updated with new questions and/or concerns.
  9. yeah that is what i am going to do. it hasnt flaked but i dont want to run the risk of over saturating it
  10. You sir.... I have no words for you. except my heart just fell through my chest. :) this is so amazing.
  11. So I am totally gonna use this thread as a sounding board for my ankle tattoo... does that count as lower leg? Anywho, I just have a question about healing it. Got it saturday, been keeping it clean and well taken care of, but it's still kind of sore, especially since my ankle/lower calve bump into things alot. It's not in pain, nor is it red, but it is tender a bit. Also having a bit of an issue with the healing. Not really scabbing, but it is really rough on some spots. It has gotten smoother over the last few days, but still worrisome. My first tattoo, on my shoulder, had already flaked by this point... this one hasnt. not trying to rush anything, but I am afraid of keeping aquaphor on it for very much longer, so about an hour ago I washed it and put a bit of cetaphil sensitive skin on it... any tips? This is vastly different from my first tattoo but nervous about it. Oh and I just realized, its not really on my ankle as much as it is on my lower calve
  12. Yes but for some reason the text just would make it perfect for me. Who knows though, I tend to mull over my tattoo choices for a long time because I have a limited amount of space I want to get tattooed, so I am waiting this one out. If I still want it in about 6 months, then I will see about getting it. it sucks wanting a career in the political side of things and then having a weight problem so alot of areas I cant tattoo... makes me especially choosy. Btw this thread totally made me go grab the first book to read
  13. I love the books and the show. books way more though. Arya is kick ass, great female character, Love danaerys, she is a strong character and a force to be reckoned with. I really wanted a wolf head with the words "winter is coming" tattooed on me, but I figure I might grow out of it so no need to rush. In all, probably some of the best books I have ever read.
  14. Yeah my mom was giving me shit before I ever decided to even get one tattoo. She like "I dont mind tattoos but they have to have meaning or else I will be pissed at you" Like really? I had to feed her some bs about my Ganesh tattoo, even though I liked the meaning of it, I liked the image more, but to placate her, I gave her a long story on the meaning
  15. I just dont understand the need to not only demand that my tattoos have meaning, but that they have to tell me about all their meaningful, story-ridden, non-existant tattoos. Or show me the jacked up tattoo that they had done in a kitchen. Oh well you do have solid advice though. Being polite but firm problably will save me from those stories/plans
  16. I am tired of hearing this question and I am barely tattooed. anytime one of my TWO tattoos show, it is always the same question. How much it cost and what does it mean. The price part I answer truthfully, they always get sticker shock though. And always the reply is, "Oh my boy did mine for 20 bucks, you should hit him up" as they show me the most messed up cheetah tattoo I have ever seen. Then they go into this big long tirade about the fact tattoos are supposed to have meaning. "Blah blah blah my tattoo means x, y, z, and for my dead parakeet when I was three and my abandonment issues and how I have become stronger as a person." Then they stop and ask me if tattoos really hurt, because they have all these tattoos planned but are afraid it will hurt, and they dont like pain! it gets old, quick. and I only have 2 tattoos. How do you more covered people deal with this kind of bs? I am assuming you get it alot more than I do but honestly, I would feel like punching people if I had way more tattoos to be demanded on the spot to explain, give the cost, then listen to other people's future tattoo plans. A quick aside, I like telling people how much my tattoos cost, because the ones who want them but hate to pay, it makes them reconsider really getting a tattoo.
  17. My mom and stepdad each had them. My dad had convinced me that tattoos meant going to hell, but then I moved in with my mom and learned that tehre was nothing wrong with having tattoos. My mom had a yin-yang done in someone's garage, then had flames added years later. She could never heal right. She had a chinese symbol in her calf but it healed rough too. My stepdad has two wolves in his upper arms and a wolf in his calf. I gained an appreciation for tattoos when I was like 12. Everyone in middle school wanted one. But the first tattoos I saw among my class mates in 7 and 8th grade has us all fascinated. But they were terrible.
  18. will upload my new tattoo once i take the bandage off... saran wrap rather. Im bleeding like a mother fucker though
  19. Upcoming tattoo: flapper or dagger and snake. Just got a tattoo about 30 mintues ago so it might be a while lol
  20. its not 20 minutes. its an 80 mile drive at the least. But i see your point. will make my decision next week
  21. well i always wanted that too. But I see your point. Theo Mindell is on my list, so is Paul Dobleman, but I have an itch I need to scratch and I know he can do what I want well.
  22. I have figured out what I am going to do. I already had this idea in my head for a snake, with a dagger and heart. That is doable and his traditional snakes look great. Its in his realm to do well and quells the urge. G-ma's name is also going to be put on sometime in the next week, anything more complicated than that deserves the wait. Thanks for validating my fears, I am glad I asked. I dont want a fucked up face on my body for the rest of my life.
