  1. I remember when seeing a person with neck, and hand tattoos was like "Fuck! Don't Fuck with that Motherfucker!" You either tattooed or were a Hard Man, possibly an Ex-con. Now all these hipsters have some broke ass outline tattooed on their throats. They are trying to get instant street cred or something. Or my favorite, the unfinished, or badly done script chestpiece. When you wear the V-neck that goes down to your solar plexus, it's all in your face. In 5 years they will all be asking for apprenticeships, if they're not already. I waited until I was tattooing professionally for 5 years to go above my collar.

  2. I try to do everything I can. I have bills and rent. I'm not the best tattooer and haven't been doing it as long as a lot of you guys. So, if I think I can't do a tattoo justice I will pass it to someone that can. Some people want ghetto ass shit and will get it done from some joker that's gonna probably fuck it up. Or lip tats, etc. So if it's do-able, I will most likely do it. It's also common sense, like don't tattoo some 18 yr old kids face. However if the guy who has a bunch of crap and has done prison time wants a face tat...."Get in the chair bud."

  3. Ha. My First WAS a tribal dragon on my leg. I was about 18 and the legal age was still 21 in Illinois. I looked really young for my age back then, but I was wearing a Flight Jacket and Doc Martens, so they must've figured I wasn't gonna get the shop in trouble. It was in the old location of The Tattoo Factory, and the guy who did it still works there. It's 16 yrs old, still solid black though.

  4. I can't work without music playing. I'm sure the rest of you are the same. What are you currently listening to at your workplace? Also, what do you think is appropriate/tasteful? I like to listen to mellow stuff if I am working an early shift. Maybe cut loose a little later in the day. Lately a lot of 60's reggae, Blues, 70's and 80's punk. Not so into tattooing to crazy Grindcore , Death Metal, or Stoner Rock. I also think some of my customers would rather not be tattooed to real loud, brash music. What are YOU currently listening to? Also do you care about what your customers think of your musical tastes?

  5. I'm still friends with my old boss. I gave him the respect of a 2 week notice before I left. I would never talk shit on him, and I don't think he would of me. The place I work now is also on the other side of town. Basically, I think if you are honest and straightforward then you have done all you can. I think some tattooers forget that you have to treat the workplace like...a workplace. Don't just bail on people. Timing is everything also.
