  1. Just wanted to update you: still loving the site and so happy to have a completely tattoo centric community to indulge my obsession!

  2. I haven't met many people who have success stories leaving their shops for others or to open up. Even when things are done in the shop owners benefit, and with the utmost respect it goes pear shaped too often. Any tips on how people here did it? I'd love for anyone to not go through the ex communication I have in the past. And why do we think this happens? Are we really that scared that we're going to lose our clientele to the new guy? Or is this just part and parcel of a linear career where one shop trumps the next until you're happy and settled? I would ask that any responses here obviously don't make any negative mention of former employers. This isn't what this post is about: moreso to help people "quit better" and more respectfully...
  3. I fucking hate that celebrities are celebrated and documents for their sheer stupidity. Tattoos are permanent and removed tattoos typically look like ugly dir on your skin. It's because of dumb shits like this that I have girls coming into my shop asking for tattoos and following it with "well they're removeable now so i can just laser it later." I need to back away from this post before I blow a fuse
  4. I think the final product is confusing to say the least. I'd suggest to pay less attention to finer details next time like the whiskers and the "crack" in the derby and spend more time doing a 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th draft: as many drafts as it twkes to eliminate any of the confusing parts of it before attempting it on skin. Also, my mantra is that no ink is usually better than white ink: the big field in his snout is going to be a disappopintment as it ages. And hey- friendly critiques abound here. I think it twkes a pretty strong person to put up their work for the public to comment on! Good on you dude
  5. I know people don't have a lot of time for planning whe they're already working a convention but with this crazy economy, if you're going to spend a huge bill with a lot of tatbros, just a suggestion to consider racking up that bill at a mom and pop place that will not only give you the treatment of a lifetime but who needs that guest cheque to stay afloat into better times! ...I don't know all the places mentioned above so this is in no way a comment on those places mentioned; just a thought.
  6. I know my tattoo friends like to eat so why don't we set em up with some places they may like to meet for eats... I always appreciate a good meal recommended by a local whe I'm on the road... I mist recommend pulcinella's in little Italy. Their food blew my mind. And they seemed under-frequented. Some group of hungry bearded tattoo dudes need to go rack up a bill there and fill their tummies with the best pizza outside of Naples... Anyway, wish I was there to meet up with all you guys for great after work eats!

  10. Bart, the piece in 111 looks awesome.

  11. I agree that it gets peep out to get tattooed but it gives people a fucking retarded idea of what success is in this industry: About a week ago, two of the types of guys who LOVE those shows come in and bro down for their bro tats. They keep telling me that maybe "one day I'll be on one of those shows." so as always, I act polite. I tell them that for me personally I wouldn't be interested in the extra work that a show would give etc. Etc. They seemed to lose all faith in me after that as though I just said I went interested in being a good tattooer. Therefore, my only complaints about those shows are (a) the Eikon sponsorships and (b) the attitude it gives clientele that those tattooers are the end all be all of the industry and choose not to look more into the art than staring at the boob tube. Just my opinion.
  12. Hey Kevin that's crazy. As I understand rob can be a hard guy to win over... But so far I think we arre getting along just fine!
