  1. I think Ed pushed the panther envelope way farther than it had been before, looking at the invisible man book shows it. He really dismantled the image and made it his own. They're really popular now, but I think like when he did Arment's chest, maybe 10 years ago, he was pretty much only tattooer I know doing that stuff at that level (feel free to fill me in anyone). I remember a customer asked me to tattoo one of his Panther/Rose mash-up paintings around that time, and I was really hesitant, like "that's Ed's art, it's his own thing"... times have changed Bob R. also worked really hard to make his own kind of standard 3/4 panther head, and it's cool because it has no neck, but it works great. Really tough to draw, I know cause I was obsessed with it after he put one on me in 98, I spent so much time trying to get it down. for tigers, I think Lehi is pretty much in his own league, with Ed also on that level again
  2. I think it's good practice and amusing, I'm trying to master drawing richard stell from my head, but haven't mastered it yet (keep making him too skinny) here are 2, I never look at stuff, just try to get the gestures and feel from memory I dunno why 2nd one is sideways, tried to fix it anyone else have any?
  3. Once he got old, charlie's dog cash would come in the the room while I was tattooing and just shit right in front of the customer's feet... and I wasn't even an apprentice anymore I made Bob clean it up (true)
  4. whats up dude! Josh is awesome, really good tattooer and painter, I have a kick ass sheet of his flash hanging in my shop he's also a great dad and fisherman
  5. I was going to tattoo 2 more people Dari, a tattooer named Teddy Safarian and a customer of mine from LA, I gave her $20 back for paying to get in a 2nd day
  6. out of 3 tattoos I was able to nail down that weekend, I missed 2 because of the blackout. I didn't hear of anything being done for people who paid to get in, but I hope something was done.
  7. the trip we took to amsterdam for the opening of his new shop, seeing the museum, his house, I really felt lucky to get a tiny glimpse of what it must've been like to be one of the people who was lucky enough to work at the old shop.

your stuff is by far the most used ink around my shop. Some colors are a matter of taste, but I've found Bill's ink to be very nice, it's the one company I can honestly get behind if you're not gonna make it yourself see you in SF
  9. thanks everyone. the more I dig around on here the more cool stuff I find, looked at the "cities" set of flash lasrt night on Nick Colella's profile, that's nice.
  10. Hello, my name is Bryan Burk. I'm a tattooer from Los Angeles, where I work at my own shop, which is called Dark Horse Tattoo, with another artist, Adam Warmerdam. I previously worked at and helped operate a shop here in town called Spotlight Tattoo for about 11 years. I've also worked as a guest at the Family Business in London, Blackheart in San Francisco, and a few other shops over the years. I know a few of the people I've seen posting here (I think I met Mario at my opening party, hello to Dari, Shane, Chad and others!) I have a son named Jacob who is almost 5 and is the light of my life Scott asked if he could interview me for this site, which we did on Tuesday, right after he finished my back/ass/thigh piece (I know you're gonna miss my tumbleweeds, Scott); so I thought I'd make a profile nice to see everyone and I'll have more info & photos of our shop & work up soon thanks! Bryan
