Nah. He just speaks the truth. And people ask the same questions over and over a lot here instead of doing a quick search.

My honest advice for you going forward is to bring this entire process to a screeching halt. Cancel your upcoming appointments and just let the money for the deposit go. Reading through that book that you posted, it is clear that it’s more than just an issue with this particular artist/tattoo. See a therapist. Do not continue getting tattooed until you can truly accept that nothing in this world is perfect. Tattoos are not for highly anxious and perfectionist people. Tattoos have become too mainstream where anybody thinks they can go get one and if it’s not “Instagram perfect” then it keeps them up at night. It used to be that people with tattoos generally didn’t care so much what everyone else thought. Now there is an influx of people that seem to be doing it only for the likes or the praise of others. Get good tattoos that you want and you like and forget about the rest.

Oh I know. I’ve been going back to a few years and there’s loads of the same stuff. Especially around Tattoo anxiety! I was actually surprised.. now maybe I’m weird because I never went through any of that...only type of anxiety I get is when I’m sitting there waiting for the artist to stab me with needles for hours LOL.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I was kind of embarrassed when reading this topic! My regret brought me here only a short while ago...though granted I'm not new to tattoos. There was a 12 year gap between now and the last tattoo I got. Back then I wasn't so much into social media or interested in looking up other people's tattoos. Nowadays I'm much more active online and constantly looking up fantastic tattoos and reading comments from other people (both positive and negative). It can be so F***ing toxic. And in hindsight, it's definitely had an impact on me subconsciously.
I've finally gotten over the panic though, in part because some of you were super nice and gave me support, whether you know it or not. But also because I remember the reason I got inked in the first place. It wasn't for anyone else's gratification, but solely my own. F*** anyone else (and it feels great to finally say that).

@Dani2304 You acknowledge that it's too early to tell what it's eventually going to look like and in the meantime you persist in micro-analyzing what you worry might be potential imperfections in an art form with plenty of room for perceived "imperfections". Honestly, I wouldn't recommend proceeding with getting any further and/or larger pieces done anytime in the near future . . .

What help would you like? Relax and wait. There is nothing you can do regardless of what the circumstances are. That's not what a blow out looks like.

I think it’s beautiful. I’m on board with what everyone else thinks... pretty much F*** everyone else. It’s your body, if you’re happy with it who cares what others say. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I wouldn't go to an artist that specializes in black and grey to get a color tattoo. Kind of like going to a proctologist because you have a cough. It doesn't mean they can't work on both ends, I just like specialists.

Yep. Some are skilled in both - but certainly not necessary.
Colorado has TONS of great artists. What city specifically?

hi and welcome,  IMO I would look for an artist that likes doing and does a lot of color work,
many black & gray artists are really good at B&G,that may be their primary type of work,
the same goes for a color specialist ,

I had the cutest little old lady come up to me in the supermarket right after I got my elbow done on my first sleeve (right arm). She went on and on about how pretty it was and even touched it. I told her thank you, but I told her not to touch it because it was still fresh. But she was so adorable and sweet.

This post reminded me of a comment my family friend made about my father in-law. He made some comment about how he didn’t like women with tattoos and she was offended (she has a couple of small ones) and said “oh so you don’t like my tattoo” and he’s like no. I don’t like tattoos on women (he can be a bit of a knob from time to time). And my response was pretty much what most people have said... “if you got it for others to look at, rather than yourself, you probably got it for the wrong reasons”.

I have four personally, half sleeve, shoulder, collar bone and lower back. Two of mine are pretty decent in size and honestly, I get nice comments from people, I get snarls from others.. mostly older women that view tattoos a little differently but ALL of mine have sentimental meanings and I could give a shit less what people think because they mean something to me.

At the end of the day, regardless of what anyone thinks, you’ve got to be comfortable in your own skin, covered in tattoos or not. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was being too kind. haha
As a Queen fan that film is a lot to swallow. Now when I'm in conversation about my beloved band someone will almost always bring up the film...and then the same speech will unfold of me correcting the movie's many glaring lies. I mean, the movie makes Freddie out to be an asshole (granted he wasn't a saint). It's downright despicable. I simply can't believe that's what Roger and Brian let happen. The band always had their differences but in the end they were a family. It's just weird, the whole thing, and I've often struggled to come to terms with it.

I don't even think it is a good film about a rock band. it's soooooo bad.

and I don't give a F*** what other people say or think about my tattoos.
if somebody wants to talk about tattoos, then I like to do that,if nobody says anything about my tattoos, then that's fine too.

oboogie reacted to SStu in how to differentiate inspiration from ripping off artists?
In my mind you've already got the acceptable limit = "inspiration". If you take that picture some a willing tattooist and say "I want this EXACTLY as this is" and they trace it out then it's just reproduced artwork, like a cartoon character.
If you take that picture to a qualified artist and say I'd like a goat's head and raven similar to this then you're likely to get an original piece of art.

Same here. I felt bad because I thought it portrayed Freddie in too far a negative light (granted he wasn't a saint). They made it like it was him vs the band. In reality, all four of them were, as Freddie once put it, "four cocks fighting." And two years of not touring because Freddie went solo? Bullshit. Even when Freddie went solo he was still working with the band, and even Roger came to help his "friend" with the solo work. I could go on and on with my disappointment. These comments are only the tip of the iceberg. I really wanted a film that represented why the band means so much to so many people (and a little truth wouldn't hurt!). Instead, we got the exact opposite.
