  1. I am giving it another shot. I never met him, but I was a fan of his tattooing.
  2. This guy seems to be able to pull of the braided beard look. (An old piece of Lee Hanna flash)
  3. Great news. Congratulations.
  4. I hope that my last post does not mean that I have to fight Richard Stell.
  5. A braided beard looks good if you are carrying a sword, and fighting a dragon. Otherwise it looks pretty stupid.
  6. Greenpoint and Three Kings are both great shops. I check Chuck Donaghue's blog often (he is at Greenpoint), and most people on LST know that I have been tattooed for many hours by Matt Arriola (he is at Three Kings). I am probably a bit biased, but I think that Matt is one of the best tattooers around. Honestly right now Smith Street is the last place I would go in NYC. I have been tattooed there, and everyone was really cool, and I love the tattoo I got. Dan wasn't tattooing there yet, and Bert was working at Top Shelf the day I went in. Steve did the tattoo. The problem for me right now is everyone is going there, and it is all starting to look the same to me. They make great tattoos, but don't lose the forest for the trees.
  7. I know everyone wants to go to Smith Street, and it is a great shop, but if I were going to New York right now I would go to Flyrite and see if Derrick Snodgrass is still there or try to get get something from Grez or Bart Bingham. Timothy Hoyer was an excellent choice, and I had a really good experience getting tattooed by Bailey. Cris Cleen I have never met.
  8. Yeah. We started it in June last year, and then he decided to move to New York. He will be coming through Seattle in May, and we are going to finish it up. Our last session was almost eight straight hours. I am hoping we only have about four hours left.
  9. They are celebrating this year because Sailor Jerry Rum is sponsoring it, and Chicago Tattoo Company has posted it all over Instagram. My birthday is November 24th, but I have no sponsors.
  10. No hammies for me, and my backpiece is Japanese imagery. I wanted my back to look like a big one shot tattoo. I will finish the flames, but I haven't decided if I will do any background at all.
  11. Has Norm offered you a raise or any sort of compensation for pain and suffering related to this tattoo? Maybe you should sue him for putting it on Instagram.
  12. Wes Carter is in Bowling Green, and Absolute Art is in Richmond, VA. A bit of a drive for you, but worth every bit of it.
  13. Ink It Up - Traditional Tattoos This is my favourite Wizard. Grant has more updated photos on his Instagram, but this was the only one I could find with a quick Google search
  14. BRYAN RANDOLPH TATTOO I like this thread, and wanted to get it going again.
  15. I was talking to a friend of mine about this over Christmas so I was glad to see it as a new thread here. My prediction is much like Stewart's. I think that there will be a lot of 60's, 70's, and early eighties stuff. Greg Irons, Jack Rudy, and Mike Malone. Especially Malone. He has so much great flash out there, and it is well drawn. I think that people are getting tired of the over simplification of tattoos. The American Traditional resurgence has gotten so simplified that it is losing its visual power. Malone will be the new Higgs.
  16. http://laughinghyena.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/tomback1.jpg I have to add this one as well. I know that it has only begun, but it really makes me want a reaper.
  17. He will be back in May. I don't know for how long.
  18. Matt Arriola's Photos | Facebook I don't know if it is my favourite, but it is definitely the top two or three. Matt Arriola.
