  1. So not only do you not tattoo and want to open a shop, but you don't even have tattoos and want to open one? Bye bye.
  2. A weird thing about this place is that you've seen multiple pictures of my butt before you've seen one of my face.
  3. @SeeSea @Fala @gougetheeyes @MrsGougeTheEyes @ironchef It was super fun hanging out, glad we were able to make it work!
  4. That is a back piece! It's insane that you did that in three straight days. I'm going to say that you're one of the toughest posters on here.
  5. @Pugilist 's appointment is at 1 on Saturday. Text me if you can swing by, it would be good to meet.
  6. I saw this in the news today and thought it was worth sharing: Tattoo-removal regulation coming to Quebec - Montreal - CBC News Quebec's College of Physicians has formed a committee to regulate tattoo removal after a Radio-Canada investigation revealed that at least eighteen women were left with horrific scarring after going to a non-laser tattoo removal place outside of Montreal. This place, Bye Bye Tattoo, claims that their method is painless and doesn't leave scars, but here's the result: According to the removal place's website, their method involves opening the skin and introducing some kind of liquid that acts as a solvent which will provoke the body to reject the tattoo pigment. I know that @Mike Panic has discussed several methods of non-laser tattoo removal on this forum and how they don't work, and I guess this is more evidence that if you want to get a tattoo removed you need to get is lasered. Fortunately, it doesn't seem from the news article that the College of Physicians has any interest in regulating tattooing itself, only removal, though I'm sure there are going to be some people who will use this as an excuse to push for regulation.
  7. Welcome from Montreal! Who have you been tattooed by?
  8. @CaitlinBurnett10 You are a warrior! I hope you get a good night's sleep, and I can't wait to see progress pictures. The bit I can make out from the photos you posted looks pretty badass.
  9. I keep coming back to this one. It's such a rad way of filling an awkward spot and I feel like I've never really seen anything before like it. I'm going to keep this tattoo in mind for a long time especially as I get more and more awkward gaps.
  10. @Fala Thanks! @Rob I Getting tattooed isn't a competition, anybody who sits through a backpiece deserves respect. I still think you're crazy for thinking it was a good idea to get your back done after your chest, but yours is looking so tough and rad that I think I can follow your logic. @MrToby everything is individual and what not but I've found the shading to be much more tolerable than the lining. Lining is really brutal, much respect to you for getting through that many lines on yours! It looks really incredible, can't wait to see how it comes together. @Cork Thanks! The only thing you can do is sit as best you can because it's all getting filled no matter what. But goddamn the back is full of gnarly spots. @SeeSea I am super stoked on it. When I was researching designs prior to starting I found that for tigers I liked them most when they are big, and this one is pretty much as big as my back will allow. Its paws are pretty much the size of my hands. Pictures don't really do the scale of the tattoo justice, as they never do. The actual design and position of the tiger and snake is referenced from a Horiyoshi 3 tattoo. I kept on coming back to that one when I was looking at design possibilities because it's so powerful. @ironchef I'm really excited for the colour. We haven't fully worked out things because the colour of the leaves is going to depend on the colour of the snake but it's going to be super great whatever way things go.
  11. @polliwog If you can afford nice decent sized tattoos like your Chad eagle, I would think that you could manage a backpiece financially if you make it a priority and like @Lance said above, are disciplined about your finances and can work out a reasonable schedule with whatever tattooer you choose. A backpiece is financially daunting and I'd be lying if I said that paying for mine doesn't cause me stress and forces me to choose between things I want. Right now I need to replace my computer's hard drive because it failed, but that's not really in my budget right now because of my backpiece. And that's fine, because beyond essentials like rent, bills, food, etc., tattoos are my priority. It sucks sometimes, but it sucks more not having nice tattoos.
  12. @Dennis @BrianH @Lance Thank you, that is exactly the sort of information I'm looking for.
  13. If I may resurrect this thread I was wondering if anybody had information about this tattoo: These are taken from the Perseverance catalog, the back is by Shige and the front is from Horitomo, and they depict skeletons dancing with fans. I love the imagery, but I was wondering if anybody had an idea of what story it is referring to? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  14. Session five yesterday, lining and shading background on the ribs and love handles. Goddamn the love handles are a shitty fucking spot. Next session we'll shade the background on my other cheek and thigh so we'll be going into the new year with a substantial chunk of the background done. I love how it's coming together.
  15. @PackMan Great start! Will Lollie's name came up when I was getting tattooed yesterday because my tattooer just got a print at the SFO convention that Will did of a tiger in water with shunga elements. It was really fantastic, reminded me a fair bit of Timothy Hoyer's paintings in terms of refinement and flow and power.
  16. This bar sounds 100% like my kind of place.
  17. I vote Matchless Bar because it makes me think of tube amplification.
  18. This probably isn't very helpful, but we're both really easy going when it comes to food and drink. I prefer places with good beer, but I'm not especially picky about that, especially seeing as how most places serve up good stuff these days. Good company is the most important part of it anyway.
  19. @hogg Can I propose that LST has a female moderator?
  20. @Mush @DeathB4Decaf We usually have a LST meet up at the Montreal convention, both of you should come and hang out! I will hopefully have my back done by then so we can have a backpiece party! @rozone Why would you get tattooed by anybody other than a wizard?
