  1. Hi guys!! For those who have not seen on Instagram, I was a dumbass and scheduled three days of getting zapped on my last trip to SF. That shit is hard on the body!!!!! @cltattooing made an awesome stabby skull for me, and then we hung out w @CABS, who is an alright type of guy (understatement of the season!). Junii added color to my froggy, some shading and background and outlined a peony on my thigh. We started the first snake! Matt (dr claw) started on my serene butt snake. Shad will be starting the mean back snake in October, and Junii is doing the thigh snake (I think?!) I was not the only one getting my butt drilled (word choice?) in the shop that day. I had the pleasure of watching Drew Flores begin one of the backpieces that is part of the 108 heroes of LA project. How cool is that?!? Also @petiloi was in the shop getting some work done by Bill Salmon. Hi!!! I did not identify myself bc, you know, tattoos. But it was cool anyway! Pics attached. Warning: Butt ahead!! (Nice asp, I know. Tips hat to @CultExciter for that one).
  2. I botched it, guys. I thought I picked an image that didn't have a 13 on it so I didn't even worry about it. Didn't see the 13 in the smoke til after the tattoo. And...I'm...not...new...at...this. But whatev, it's a cool tattoo. Pic shortly.
  3. @Lance to the rescue! Sunday the 15th it is!
  4. I feel kinda.... I just called to grab a spot and they told me they had openings on sun so I took one...but that's a dumb ass Friday 13th tattoo when it's on Sunday the 15th....:/...might cancel the res. boo!! (Why boo? Still a tattoo). Dunno. Waaah?
  5. @HaydenRose I straight up cackled when the forum topic popped up in my feed. :p
  6. Are you driving down to LA for the show? (Is there also one in SF??)
  7. FTW Oakland http://ftwtattoo.com/ She is @cltattooing on Instagram.
  8. @keepcalm do what the man said! Otherwise just walk in - maybe on a tues or something where they wouldn't already be busy. Shops are usually good about accommodating out of towners. Good luck!!
  9. I love Friday 13th tattoos :) I will prob get one!
  10. Ahahaha thanks lance, I giggled. I had ultra hairy (for me) calves when I started on my leg. I wasn't expecting to work on my calf and wore knee socks thinking I was super smart because we were only working on my thigh, and she could access that really easily if I just pulled up my skirt - I really planned for this and thought I was super smart, but she had other plans and I stood for an hour on a chair with my hairy legs out for all. She did not shave them, and hasn't shaved any part of me (okay, this is getting weird) before tattooing me ever. And then the next day my feet were really dirty looking because it was raining and black dye from my shoes melted on to my feet as I was walking to the shop so I had hairy legs and dirty feet (though I was freshly showered). So I guess this is an example of good client *intentions* :p. Next sitting I had a pedicure and leg wax. (Starting to sound remarkably similar to a date. Hm.) Hopefully made up for the time previous!
  11. Hah!! Welcome propagandhi fan! Someone direct this man to the punk/oi/crust thread. (I'm on the move yo!)
  12. @Lance that is how Seattle FEELS to me right now! @Colored Guy it's nuts. I feel like Seattle may have more aggressive crows than in other locales? Also because I've only been swooped by hawks before, so... @MadeIndelible now you know it's not a curse, you were just near some babies! Hahaha @polliwog @Fala I have a friend who has been attacked by swans on 3 (THREE!) different occasions!! Wtf. It's amazing the bird stories that come out.
  13. @Colored Guy thanks for the link! Great info. Here's a crow-sourced (har har) attack map in Seattle: http://seati.ms/1uiBybb
  14. AND I JUST GOT ATTACKED AGAIN!! This time it yanked my glasses off my face!!! MY FACE!! Two weeks ago another crow dive bombed me and chased me for two blocks. It is TERRIFYING. Lessons learned: - Late May - Late June = fledgling season, and crow mothers are no different from mothers anywhere and will attack any perceived threat to their babies. Any perceived threat like walking under a nest you don't know is there. Walk somewhere else for the month. - Crows remember up to 200 discrete faces and also talk to each other. Don't piss off crows. - They like to nest in big, tall trees. - If you hear warning caws (I did NOT get a warning just now) then GTFO. Just do it. I like to walk and my walk to my chiropractor's office is usually quite pleasant but I think I will take the bus home BECAUSE SCARY BIRDS SWOOPING AT YOU FROM THE SKY AND FROM BEHIND IS FUCKING TERRIFYING! I dealt with this as a kid in Oklahoma. Kite hawks, anyone? My friends and I took to walking to each other's houses in the summertime with bike helmets on. One day a bunch of high schoolers in an open jeep drove up and started making fun of us for walking with helmets on....guess who got swooped?! Lesson. Don't fuck with birds.
  15. Welcome @Seldomwright!
  16. @growltiger dude, you're a badass, you'll be fine. No pain, no gain. And you already have some big ass tattoos in not so comfortable spots!! Healing's always a bitch. :p
  17. Hey guys, here's an article about SPF. I remembered reading somewhere that there is really not a lot of difference between SPF 50 & 100. Here's an article - just a single one without any extra links, sorry - about that. Please consider it a jumping off point and not the final word. SPF 100 Sunblock | Mark's Daily Apple Also I believe zinc oxide and titanium oxide are the best ingredients to look for in in sunscreens, both providing barrier protection. Also I'm gonna get some non nano zinc and mix it with some jojoba or something and see if I can't make my own! I'll update you guys, unless someone gets there first.
  18. @Colored Guy my thoughts are with you, your wife and family right now. <hug> best wishes and luck for the rest of the fight.
  19. Thanks @SeeSea for the follow up links! And here I just thought it was good for tattoos :p. The stuff is super thick - a little goes a loooong way. I do cut mine with coconut oil sometimes, especially for the face, and it is still effective and wonderful. It helps it spread a little more evenly for me. Also coconut oil has a natural SPF of 3 or something :p
  20. The badger sunscreen is nice because it is a simple formula with natural ingredients that are less likely to irritate the skin. And for me the zinc is nice, even if it gives me goth face and washes my tattoos out a little much, because otherwise I'd just be completely covered all rhe time and never get to show off :p
  21. I like Badger Natural & Organic Sunscreen, SPF 30. It is zinc based, so for us fish belly pale folk (like myself) it's a great natural barrier option. Good for tattoos. I tend to cut mine with coconut oil because it's so thick! A must for tattoos in the sun season.
