    I took the survey' date=' out of consideration of what @deadsp0t said. That said, the survey was far lacking in it's ability to gather information from anyone who isn't getting tattooed for the Google/Pinterest flash reasons. I left a comment in the final page informing Charlotte as such, in what I felt were blunt, yet polite terms. I mainly did this so she would see it, because there's a good chance she won't be part of the discourse here beyond one or two posts. "Try to go out into the world of tattoos. Go to tattoo shops and learn a bit. Perhaps, even get tattooed a few times as part of your research. Anthropologists should immerse themselves in a culture to learn about it, right?     You may inspire me to do the same, I totally agree with trying to blend with the natives before trying to study them, not just in joining a forum and contributing but like you mentioned. Actually hit the streets and visiting shops will yield the best results by far. While we are just another forum <insert topic>, I've learned in my short time her that the difference here is that generally you are going to get real advice and real opinions For experienced people

    I am a tattooer in sacramento at The Exotic Body opened for 24 years' date=' I have been tattooing for 8 years by no means think I know shit I also build machines, footpedals, wallmounts for tattoo equipment, and just all around tinkerer of things. I have a traditional basis of tattooing but wouldnt call myself that at all I try to be open to all styles as I beleive in a street shop mentality Im not an artist I just make cool marks on skin[/quote']

    While I agree and won't bother with the survey, this is exactly while official statistics and peoples writings are so off base about tattoos, because people involved collectors and tattooers do not participate, which is fine but it's hypocritical to later discredit these surveys when they are wrong and we aren't/weren't willing to participate.

    Agreed, while there are some touchy spots on the arm, having done nearly my complete left arm it's all tolerable.

    Apologies if this already exists; I couldn't find it... Hands holding things' date=' realistic hands, etc. They're a bit of a mixed bag for me - some of them I like, some are too twee.     Just to add to the above post, while fresh tattoos are the most convenient to get pictures of from the artists, I have noticed that many tattooers take and post healed pictures whenever they can. I would imagine it can be difficult for top tier artists to get healed pic because of their scheduling and availability, wait times etc.

    Personally all my work has come from the same artist and each time I go in, he always takes healed pics of the last piece. High demand artists don't always have that luxury.

    It's easy to be over observant, I know I was, but like was already said after 3-4 weeks you'll know more.. As you get more tattoos you'll start to realize there are no perfect tattoos, if you look hard enough you'll find something. Just give it some time.. And even if it's never 'perfect' just get a new tattoo lol
