  1. I have a fascination with Russian prison tattoos. They're just amazing. Great post.
  2. Fine advice. I'll take it under serious consideration. You probably saved my artist the time of saying, "No." ;)
  3. Boy, when I look at a thread like this, I'm reminded of how limited my imagination is. I'd love to have a rose with a key somehow morphed into it as a tribute to The Dark Tower, but that's way down the line.
  4. Ain't that the truth, sis? My aunt's a Mary Kay consultant, and I gotta admit, that stuff is GOOD. And after years of searching, I found a foundation that works, and it's cheap ol' Covergirl Oil of Olay. Who would have thought? Not this dummy.
  5. This is true. But I spend minutes and just a few dollars comparatively on my hair and makeup. ;) Excellent point, though.
  6. As a runner, plastic surgery freak, and tattoo fanatic, this is wonderful advice. I am humbled. Thank you.
  7. I had a good discussion with my artist about back pieces. It's just such a hard thing to commit to. You can only see it second-hand, mirror or pic. Designing an amazing one that doesn't resemble something else feels like a bugger. They are expensive and take forever. I'd love to get a piece inspired by the Soviet cartoon "The Cat and the Tree" with a cat that looks like mine and a magnolia in bloom, but would take forever. So many I want before that. I may get the kitty first and put in the rest. I hate to get a cliche idea, but I am in love with it.
  8. I've known some women who've chosen tattoos over breast reconstruction. After breast deformation, I chose reconstruction, but I understand the tattoo route. Breasts and how they appear affect how we're treated by lovers, society, et al. It's a choice that takes a strong woman. I respect anyone who takes either route. Neither is an easy decision.
  9. Love them, but looking for something darker, like a dark blue, for a cover-up. Good suggestion, though. These are pale but indented marks. Darkness is needed to give the impression of smoothness/flatness. (I have scar-covering experience after the biggie. ;) ) There are lots of these, and I want the illusion of smooth, luscious thighs. I'm a runner and I work really hard to have a good body, but I can't overcome these scars. I want to have a love life where I lie back and I don't worry if he's being grossed out or worried. (He's got a beautiful body as a professional body builder.) He says he loves me as I am, but I want to measure up.
  10. I saw the cutest tattoo on the bottom of a toe awhile back of Hello Kitty: Ignore her rude gesture. I know tattoos on feet do not last and need retouching. I know they're great places for fun tattoos you don't want really as serious decorations on your corpus, but are fun and have meaning. I love kids, and I'm an Adventure Time fan. I adore dogs, and Jake. Anyone get one of these bad boys on the bottom of the big toe? The lines are simple and seeing that cute little face would cheer me up before long shifts putting my shoes on. Good idea? Bad idea? I have size 7 US feet, ergo on the smaller, but not super small side. Any experience on pain and how they age? I don't have the greatest pain tolerance, but I can get through a four hour session with no more than the occasional "ouch," swearing, and moan. How quick does it wear and require a retouch?
  11. Another one for the koi/dragon/metamorphosis tattoo here. Amazing, underdone concept. Everyone loves koi and dragons, but the pairing and combination is wicked cool. I love it. Just get a quality artist.
  12. I was pleasantly surprised how much I like these! I am pretty sure I want bold blue colors, but I love the shapes of those. Those are amazing. Thank you.
  13. The shop where I get tattooed at we usually watch TV, lots of cartoons like Family Guy and sitcoms like Rules of Engagement.
  14. I posted this on another forum, got some amazing feedback, but the more, the merrier. I trust my artist and myself, but why not get more feedback? I have been celibate for a long time, and am just approaching a point of breaking that. (It's not a religious thing. It's a work thing. I don't have time to find a mate, much less arrange copulation in these stages of my career.) I have some stretch marks on my inner thighs from puberty I've never been comfortable with, and I want them fixed. I talked to my tattoo artist, and he agreed some simple inner thigh pieces on each side would work. I have a couple questions, however. I am trying to decide between sweet william and forget-me-nots. I really don't want the sweet williams to look to menstrual-bloody. I fear forget-me-nots may be a little pale. Is taking a little artistic liberty to go a few shades darker wrong? Are there different, more suitable flowers? I'm very pale and any color will take. I just don't want a flower that resembles a vagina, or doesn't do a good cover-up for one reason or another. If you look at my gallery pics, the cover-up of my ovarian cancer scar is amazing. This guy is talented. I just want to be dead sure these are covered up and I'm not thinking about my scars when my mind should be elsewhere.
  15. I just wanted to say how I deeply appreciate everyone warmly welcoming me. Sometimes in fringe communities people are made to feel like outsiders, and that certainly hasn't been the case here and another tattoo forum. I really appreciate it.
  16. And those pictures can be clicked on to the left of this post. :)
  17. Unfortunately, due to some of our careers and positions, putting up pictures of our faces is not an option.
  18. Just got a gorgeous tiger from Ryan McDonald of Alley Cat Studios. Click my images to see the pic.
  19. Much beloved, now in tatters. Someday she'll get touched up and surrounded with something lovely.
  20. Welcome. You should be proud of your work. :)
  21. Done by Ryan McDonald of Alley Cat Studios, Cookeville, TN
  22. I posted the scar since it shows a before and after with the tattoo. I had ovarian cancer and a ten lb. tumor. I was a size 2/4 at the time, and I had no clue. Let me tell you, I believe in that, "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant" stuff. I looked normal, just had awful symptoms. Four years clean.
  23. I say, "Thank you," and smile. I always recommend my artists based on the piece they ask about.
  24. Right now, as a professional, my tattoos are in places that can be covered by shorts and a tank top. I consider myself fashion-forward, and tattoos are a great way to cover scars and flaws that I can't correct through exercise or other body modifications, and it's a great enhancer and conversation piece. I'm slowly branching out into more tattoos to where if I went out in casual fun clothes instead of business attire, maybe you'd spot one. ;) But overall, I like to keep it classy, highbrow, and visually interesting.
  25. My long lost brother! Only thing holding men back from ravishing me every time I step out of the house: It's the tattoos. ;)
