  1. i get that in the beginning of the mag it must have been difficult to get people to submit photos. so why not fill the fuckers with your own photos or photos of guys at your shop? i remember seeing tons of old garver and snake eyes tattoos. i loved them! could do without that goofy tribal stuff though.

  2. Funny Scott, I was just telling somebody yesterday about the shop with the best view.

First shop I went into was a dirty dark biker joint. Years later somebody bombed that shop.

I visited American Graffiti in like 1998 or 1999. I actually called Eric up about a job. He asked me to send a portfolio and a photo of myself. Said it was "so we can see who we are dealing with". Haha. Shoulda sent some glamour shot type shit. Anyway, I visited the shop and got a real weird vibe. Eric was super cool to me and asked if I still wanted the job. Told him I was already hooking up with folks in San Jose. But thanks anyway. Lee Hanna layer told me je ended up filling that spot. Glad I said no.

  3. Well I'm a righty but a friend of mine, thad Ritchie, made a machine for me. It's a great shader and I use it often. The only thing is it's a lefty machine. Thad ain't even a lefty!!!! Not sure why he builds his machines this way. But I DO find it awkward to set it up before tattooing with it. I imagine you getting lefty machines would feel better for you

  4. Really it depends on what it is. There are certain images that I can draw up pretty quickly. Others that take me a shitload of research and drawing and redrawing. I probably draw about an hour and a half to to hours a night. But if I have time in between appts., I draw then too. I'd rather draw at work than at home when it robs me of family time.

I can say that from the time a person makes an appt., I'm visualizing and drawing layouts in my head. By the time I actually sit down to work, I usually have a pretty good idea where I want stuff to be.

  5. when i moved to california, i stayed with my brother in SF for a month before moving to san jose. tiger army was playing at the fillmore and i wanted to see them. i found some dude at the venue that sold me a ticket face value. they were the opening act for a band i didnt know. after they played i stuck around. that band was AFI. they came out and the place went nuts! then they started their first song. my initial reaction...."DAMN THAT LITTLE GIRL CAN FUCKING SIIIIIING!!!!!!!!!!" Then i realized there were no boobs under that mesh shirt. whoops thats a guy.

anyway, i was incredibly impressed with their playing and davey's singing. they had that entire crowd in the palms of their hands. it was awesome.

been a fan ever since. i do think its funny that alot of people hate on them for changing up their style though. theyve been playing music a long ass time. i wouldnt wanna be tattooing the same dagger over and over. i understand the change up. and appreicate both "versions" of the band.

so cheers to davey! wish i could catch the show.

  6. You won't really need specific reference. Go to your favorite GOOD tattooer with a nice photo of a pretty girl in the pose you want. Then tell him or her what you'd like to get and in what style. They should be able to draw one for you OR point you in the direction of someone that can.

Maybe take in a photo of a head dress you like as well. The tattooer should be able to fill in the blanks.

  7. I don't think he was in oceans 11. Honestly, I can't stand his acting (except in basketball diaries) but I loooove his movies. Except for that M night shamylan movie, the happening. That movie blew!!!

I feel the same about Matt Damon.

I've had two tattoos under the laser. One was a tribal design. It wasn't very solid and after three sessions it is completely gone. You can't see it even if i told you where it was. The second was an outline of a tattoo but it was a HEAVY outline. Midnineties style. It's just about gone after three sessions. I can cover it with just about anything. In fact, when I do get the are tattooed again, I'm getting something black and grey over it.
