My latest is posted in the War Stories thread as well, but I might as well tell more about it here. I got it this past Saturday. This one was at the request of my kids. I had said I wanted something completely whimsical, so I asked them what they thought I should get. They suggested Perry the Platypus, also known as Agent P, from the Disney show Phineas and Ferb. I am almost as big a fan of the show as they are, so I thought it was an awesome idea. I found that the artist who has done my previous three tattoos is currently taking a break from the business, so went to another loval artist she had recommended - Robyn at Mothers Tattoo in Erlanger KY. I am seriously pleased with the outcome - great experience and she did a great job of capturing the character. She also used a nearly silent tattoo machine, which I found interesting, I didn't know those existed....

Then you've come to the wrong place.
As stated in the Tattoo Newbie Guidelines thread:
Do not start threads asking about specific tattooing equipment or techniques, LST is not here to teach anyone how to tattoo. Ask your own tattooer, the next time you are getting tattooed. Maybe they'll answer you, maybe they won't.
Do not start threads regarding closely guarded trade secrets - this will keep LST a much more welcoming place for everyone, tattooers and enthusiasts alike.
Do not start threads asking questions about "breaking into the business" of tattooing.
If you do see threads like that, flag them for mods and try to ignore them until they can be deleted. We want LST to be a place that artists feel welcome, too, and those types of threads do nothing to foster that type of environment.
    Thanks.

I got this little Purple Monkey done yesterday. I know its on the cheesy side, but I got it for my daughter. I've called her Punky Monkey since she was born and her favorite color is purple, I let her pick out the design (she's four by the way) and location. It is also on my left arm which I plan on using for totally random stuff.
Damn camera phone sucks ass, bad quality photo.

I have some pretty bad ones I will never mess with ,because of association. one of them is by the late Eric Hogan. he was by no means a great friend , more like someone I knew, But I will always remember him, His mother would probably appreciate this. During these times that seem sometimes like a "cool" race, we need to remember the whys and hows people have always gotten tattooed. As a tattooer/ist we ,especially street shops, face it everyday. those silly reasons mean something to those not in the know. your Moms love, your children's love, you went somewhere, you freed yourself, don't forget. They aren't just cool. Last evening I put stick figures holding balloons on a woman's foot, I tried to put them on with all the professionalism that i could. If those don't meet anyone's ideas about what good art is or what a cool tattoo is,it doesn't matter. she talked about how she went to a different shop and they were rude about it. I did a good job, she was happy, I got to eat dinner doing something I want to do,not something i have to do, Im not cleaning toilets ,Im not a Walmart greeter. not that good hard work isn't respectful , Its that I'm lucky and hopeful today. And yes I will try and give them the best stick figures they need. I do love me some "regular people".

why? why are soccer moms not "cool" enough to get tattooed? tattoos are for everyone, and should be accessible to any adult wanting one. i hate this sort of elitism in tattooers. my "normal" clients, half the time, are way cooler/better people than "tattoo dudes".
tattooing is not something that only "hip" people are entitled to, it belongs to all humanity, always has. it burns me up when tattooers talk like this.

Remember, as difficult as it may be to believe- there are many people out there who view many of our tattoos the same way.

I've been watching this thread since it popped up and have enjoyed seeing the respectful post from multiple perspectives of LSTers, thanks. I think some valuable feedback and ideas have been put out there. This sounds like a frustrating experience though to go in to any business from an entitled perspective as a customer we are bound to hit friction, sometimes aversion in our interactions, and overall unhappy outcomes. I do think some good feedback has been given and don't think verbal retaliations need to exist on this site. If that is what any LSTers are looking for I strongly encourage you to go elsewhere as this is one of the reasons we started LST as the other tattoo forums have too much of this negativity. We designed this forum in hopes of positive interactions from tattoo conversations to tattoo pictures to what-have-yous for both tattooers and tattoo customers. This thread is heading in a manner that I don't think it needs to go and honestly hope it doesn't as we don't need that here. This topic is a good one so if it is going to continue lets continue to go for overall ways to support/facilitate better interactions with the tattooers and customers who respect tattooing humbly.
