  1. its funny anomaly - but i have been a member of several enthusiast forums - running, biking, skating, paddling boarding, videogame, professional etc - you get the idea - and one thing never changes - there are always those who have the 'locals rule' mentality - and god forbid you don't agree with them or somehow cross the proverbial 'line of coolness' - then look out - classic internet bullying and trolling behavior - anonymity tends to bring this out in people - anyway - you did nothing wrong imo - good luck with figuring on a cool direction for your tattoo

  2. keep it up polliwog - my only advice is try and mix some other fitness activities in - easy to hurt yourself with running in regards to too much too soon - mixing in some bike, hike, etc is good way to keep things fresh and avoid overuse injuries

  3. Just like Iron Chef isn't made for chefs, Cops isn't made for police officers, and Cake Boss isn't made for bakers, all of the mainstream tattoo reality shows aren't made for tattooers or tattooed people. They are made for mainstream reality show fans. I'm also making a distinction between people with tattoos and "tattooed people," as pretentious or exclusionary as that may seem.

    you're right...you do sound pretentious

  4. you're up north - lots of choice up there for challenging trail running

if you haven't already - ck out njtrailseries.com

these guys run trail races - from 5ks to 100 milers to multiday festivals - all year round

I did one several years ago @ lewis morris - a snowy frozen 10 miler - good times

    happy running!

edit: I gotta give a shoutout to sourlands too - nice hike / run trails - people mtb there ....but they're crazy - tons of rocks roots boulders

  5. seesea have a favorite trail?

if you get the chance and havent been give hartshorne in the highlands a shot - beautiful and rugged for hikes and trail running - also good for mtb if you dare

  6. the half is a great distance

but there is something about the full - the pain of the finish - being there and sharing that with others

    something special about it

i love as you approach the halfway point in philly - that band of crazies in costumes dancing it up

anyway - i have also done the NJ @ jersey shore 2x and AC 1x

nothing compared to a bigger city marathon like philly

i think baltimore will be fun too

i also have my eye on a few for the spring (cincy, pitt, DC)

i already have NJ in the book again but looking for a 2nd

also have an eye on some ultras - i know i could gut out a 50K

but these guys (and girls) that do 50's and 100's

crazy stuff - maybe one day

  7. After about a year of injuries and a slow return to running, I started my 14 week plan for the Philadelphia Half Marathon today. I haven't hit the track in quite a while, so it felt good to get out there and knock out some 600s. It's a pretty conservative plan so I probably won't come too close to my PR from two years ago, but I'll just be happy to get through it and to the starting line healthy.

sweet - doing my third philly full this fall - see you there - they put on a great race

doing baltimore a month before that for first time

i run in five fingers - give em a try if you havent yet

  8. For me, I'm all about balance. I'm slowing chipping away at all my limbs. I couldn't have one limb completely filled while the others are blank.

I think the last spot I'll ever have are those weird inner thigh spots.

balance guy too - i only have six pieces now but the next five will be spread out too

now i have 3 lower right leg, 1 lower left, 1 thigh left, 1 left upper arm

next five are: right upper arm, lower left leg, r/l upper chest, r/l rib shot, right thigh

i basically have the pieces picked out and i figure that these five will be done over next year or so at which point i will evaluate from there

spots i would like to do but dont feel comfortable as i work in a elementary school (counselor) are forearms and neck - i love both spots as placements for tattoos but i feel it might compromise my employment (current and future) and also the kids are work with are so distractible as it is i could imagine losing too much instruction time to "tattoo related discussions" - little kids will say whatever is on their mind as many of you may know

anyway - i'm not too bummed about holding back in those regards for now - plenty of canvas open :)
