  1. Maybe.

I would like to have a representation scene from some 30,000 year old cave art paintings. I'm not even sure what style to call it. Paleolithic, I guess. But I can see it easily translating into a really bad tattoo. Any suggestions at all for who or what or how to do this?

Sorry for all the pics, and thanks very much in advance for any thoughts!

  2. Hmm. What I meant was literally the origin of tattooing. Before you could walk into a shop and get something done by a guy with a tattoo machine. I doubt he'd be able to tell me about Maori rituals and show me what they looked like, and I won't take his word for gospel even if he did. I don't see why learning about history from a university is a bad idea, since I'll never be able to visit all those places to ask people there how it all went down.

  3. Not at all. A lot of the pictures you see here are of fresh tattoos, so post away!

Thank you. It's just REALLY fresh and bruised, and I didn't want to give the work and artist a bad vibe or anything!

That's a great idea about the henna! I'm not in a hurry for hands, I've got plenty other spots I can do first.

I'm cracking up cause it looks like she got in a fistfight. That's all straight up bruising, no red ink.

  4. Thanks, Hands.

Bonnie, I have seen some really lovely kitty portraits on pinterest. I think it's a great idea, please show us Frank when you get it done. I'll save *my* hands for later, I got plenty of other ideas in the mean time.

  5. @KBeee

I've only had a small solid piece done by him. His portfolio looks like he would fine for the type of stuff I like, he does curvy lines and text pretty well. I'm just fairly limited in options around (to the west of DFW).

I'm thinking an Oni on my inner forearm. It doesn't have a LOT of lines. I know a good artist should be fine doing it, I'm just nervous since all my pieces are geometric simple lines.

Brrp. Brain hot. I'm *considering* seeing the same artist as my recent piece, but not 100% he's the right one.

  6. I don't see why not. Just make it big enough that it won't turn into a blob. That's the same advice you'd get for any other location on the body in terms of size. Welcome!

Understood. I'm just not sure HOW big that needs to be. I guess anything can blob under the right factors.

  7. I guess. Personally I love a gloved look and am saving my arms for more intricate work. I'm not sure I have the right artist for it yet, so I thought it made sense to have more simple pieces first - but I'll put off the hands for now.
