  1. Maggie's body is covered in tattoos, and her parents have no idea. So we made a video for Maggie to show her parents the tattoos she's been hiding. Made by Bianca Giaever and This American Life.
  2. I like having a choice on what shows and when. 7 or 8 months out of the year are shorts weather days here, so my legs are usually bare and that's where most of my tattoos are and will be in the future. I do a lot of bike riding so anything on a thigh would be invisible and subject to road rash. My future pair of arm half sleeves go to the elbow and will likely be exposed at work, but fuck them if they don't like it.
  3. I (like most everyone here) am looking forward to seeing what John creates for you. He is an exceptional artist!
  4. As a retired paramedic, I get your concern. I'd feel confident using a Saniderm type product while working EMS as it is a great protective barrier against exterior infection sources and pathogens. Just be sure to allow at least half an inch border around the tattooed area since that is where the adhesive actually sticks, on the surrounding un-inked skin. Also, as sighthound said, it takes the hassle out of worrying about cleaning/protection.
  5. So I'm to believe that I'm the first one to walk into this place and ask what the fuck is going on? What we have here is failure to communicate. I'm not sure why you read into my post and put new meaning to my words. At no time did anything closely resemble: I am simply wondering why all the draconian rules that resemble Free Mason secrecy is about, and not a single person will come close to explaining the reasoning of such rules. If you don't know, that's fine. To provide cryptic answers like just deepens the mysterious it is all magic and don't dare ask culture. Sorry, I'm not that simple of a person. I'm not wanting to know any secret details or enter the sacred society of tattoo artists club, but when the rules make absolutely no sense, I have to ask about them and not blindly accept them like sheeple. Talk about what is unnecessary?
  6. Sorry if my post sounded the wrong way, but I' guess I'm more confused than anything, especially about the reasons behind certain rules. I'm sure there are trade secrets that artists want to protect, but some of the culture can be unique compared to most others.
  7. Having been a member of many different types of forums for almost 15 years, I must admit I've never seen one with such odd rules such as this one about not discussing the very equipment people may use to make a living, or for those interested in what is being used on their skin. Hell, you can't even mention hourly rates or tip amounts? I can see why so many well intentioned people are run off.

Nice work, especially that B&G justice on the shoulder!

    Hey there

Hello and welcome from Texas. I'm also a long time lover of Japanese art and history. I think it started when my grandmother give me a katana my uncle brought back after WWII. (it is the only object I'd be sure to take with me if there was a fire in my house) If you are into Instagram be sure to follow among other, bestirezumi, japan_tattoo, and especially japanesecollective.
  10. I couldn't remember the name of the soap until later. Hibiclens Antiseptic/Antimicrobial Skin Cleanser This is great stuff any time you need to clean your hands or fresh tattoo that can even be used as a surgical hand scrub, but there is no pain. You can find it at most any pharmacy.

    Hello and welcome from Texas.
  12. I finally got around to taking a pic of ol' Tigger. Not exactly my best photo work. When I walk or ride, the muscle movement makes him give a little pelvic thrust!
  13. This was next to my step daughter's house in the very funky San Leon area, birthplace of the Bandidos MC. Mrs. T and I spoke with the other neighbors and realized that if we didn't do something, Marshall would continue to suffer and possible die if untreated (she's a nurse and I'm a retired firefighter/medic). It wasn't even a choice. This also keeps the step daughter out of the line of fire if the next door property/mule owner get pissed off since they will likely face a fine.
  14. Hello and welcome from Texas. I can't see the images while at work so I'll check them out from home later...
  15. Hello and welcome. And +1 to:
  16. I remember my dad telling me that when in the navy (Korean War) the guys would find out you had a fresh tattoo they would hit or slap it. Combine that with no real after care and I have to feel for those guys back then.
  17. Granddaughter's 6th birthday party yesterday. We noticed that "Marshall" the mule next door was in distress. We found he had a 2 1/2" infected cut on his lower leg. The owners disappear for weeks at a time so we had to call the SPCA. The poor guy can barely walk and needs immediate medical care.
  18. Hello and welcome. +1 on the pic's.

    Gday!

Hello and welcome. That's cool that you have work from all over. I really like the space cover up in your gallery since I'm a lifelong space buff (and former NASA employee).

    Hi

Hello and welcome from Texas. Hallo en welkom van Texas. (testing my Afrikaans translator)
  21. Yeah, it was a generalized statement that he suddenly realized was actually shit hitting the fan. I was more focused on keeping her from exploding and kicking his ass (she grew up in South Jersey in a racially mixed neighborhood during the civil rights riots and can still handle herself). The family did what it took to moderate the situation instead of escalate it. Each family has it's fucked up chemistry and mine is no different. Fast forward... I no longer spend much time with them for several similar reasons.
  22. Here is my completed tiger by Tracy Lambright. We'll wrap the leg with a dragon later so he left plenty of negative space. It is one week old and in the peeling stage so it hasn't really settled in yet. I'll get a better photo when it isn't raining and the tattoo completely heals. The florescent lights messed up the yellow ink in the photo for some reason. I may have him put some white in and around the eyes later. I'll add old Tigger on the other calf to my post. I had a hard time getting it in focus and with enough light. He'll soon be getting company on that leg.

    Hello

Cool moto biomech sleeve! I spot a knee puck and an inverted fork with a big front rotor, so you must like road racers. I retired from motorcycles 20 years ago when my boy was on the way. Riding motorcycles in/near a big city like Houston is a huge risk. I started riding motorcycles when I was 5 but now ride road, track and mountain bicycles. I gotta' have 2 wheels.
