  1. Good to hear @Amok ;) Make sure you share your experience in the After care section as well, could help a few others out or at least continue the conversation. And a very nice tattoo might I add, Stevie does do nice work.
  2. And this still has me losing my shit, gold.
  3. @MadeIndelible - never apologise for posting awesome backpieces haha ;) Horitsune II Horiyasu: Not Sure on these 2:
  4. 1st @gougetheeyes congrats my good man!!! 2nd Has everyone else realised the tid bits of GOLD scattered through out this thread? All i'll say is that when the LST flash sheets get painted/tattoos start a flowin', some of the previous quotes better be in banners around ban hammers. ;)
  5. Probably best to listen to Stewart (get more Koi, they do like friends) or your tattooer and not me when I have a day off and some nice bud at my disposal ;) lol. And you could always have the old work covered if you don't like it? Not a big deal, my Koi is a cover up
  6. @Iwar - I'm just one of those fans/management/agent/events&tours dudes but can I still come hang out? ;)
  7. @WeRnDoG - That's fucking sweet. Any comments on the pain? Dean Sacred is a beast!
  8. HAHA! The funniest thing is that after I wrote that line, the first thing I thought was "Wait... I think @Lance may have Japanese heritage... ok, he can be the exception" (I think they're might be a few others also...) Don't get me wrong, I respect the traditions and for the most part try and do them justice. As an example I have sakura and a chrysanthemum in one sleeve. These flowers are from different seasons and shouldn't be together... However, for my cultural heritage (Whitey lol) a 'mum represents your Mum so I got it at the time since I wasn't sure if I'd get another sleeve (who was I kidding?) I've had conversations with Japanese tattooers about the sleeve and they dig why I got it and also know that I did do my reading into the history and that I respect it. :)
  9. Is this for the same sleeve that has the Koi? Or are we moving to the other side now? The beauty for us not being Japanese or having Japanese heritage (ok, the latter is a presumption on my part but lets go with it) we don't have to be bound by traditions and you can take a few little artistic liberties with your tattooer ;) My suggestion would be read up on as much reference material as you can, and take notes (I did) Find out what motifs either a) you have a strong connection with or b) you think are simply bad ass and go with them. If you wanted to be a stiffler for tradition, then you couldn't get ShiShi with Sakura, only Botan (Peonies) But I think a Lotus could work as it's a chinese flower? ( @Stewart Robson at a guess I'd say you'd know a lot more on this than I and could shed more light?) But as I said earlier, we can get away with a few of these 'mistakes' If you do your research, know the history and have your own desires for the images then you've educated yourself and it's what YOU want. Know the history, respect it and then do what you want lol (not exactly like that but anyway...) I'm trying to find an article online by Matt Cunnington called (funnily enough) "Talking ShiShi" it cohesively explains the point I was just trying to make, and a hell of a lot better than I just did haha. If anyone can find it, please post and you get extra points! One other thing I will say though is - Don't try and clutter things up to much. Less can be more ;) BUT your tattooer should be able to help out there.
  10. Cool, I've been known to geek it out also, however I have no idea how those images would have translated to a tattoo if he'd liked them? It is a tattoo forum after all, and he was looking for japanese tattoo ideas ;) And I'm sorry, but those where the worst Kirins' I've ever seen.
  11. Matt what ever you choose, promise to not use the references that @Hunter Morrow has posted. Yes, art is subjective - but that's not Japanese. Subject matter he's suggested sure, I myself have a Kirin (and a hannya, a koi, a chrysanthemum and a turtle and so on lol) but those images are pretty bad. (Just to be fair though, was anyone else thinking the same thing?)
  12. I haven't already told you this, but I also love that Baku. I need to get me some Stell love in a completely hetero way of course ;)
  13. Not a worry at all Matt. Best not to over think it and just let it do its thing. If it does need a bit of a touch up, so be it. I'm sure your tattooer will be happy to help. And to be fair I think everyone was the exact same way when they where first getting tattooed ;) and then after a while you start worrying less and less
  14. Hey @Matt22091 the LST crew have set up another section for Tattoo Advice which you can find here Tattoo Advice | General Tattoo Forum | Last Sparrow Tattoo So as not to appear to be a completely inconsiderate bastard, my advice would be to just let it completely settle (could be another week or two) and if you still have the issue either post a pic or go back and ask the tattooer what they think ;)
