  1. I believe that most tattooers have an hourly rate. Find the artist you want to do your backpiece and figure out their hourly rate. Discuss the tattoo you want to get and ask how long it will take them to get thru the first session. bust out your abacus or slide rule and bingo... you know how much your first session will be.

    (remember to tip)

  2. I think it depends on the content of the review. If you checked out their portfolio, you should be able to see the quality of their work. Reviews can let you know if the tattooer's an asshole before you go talk to 'em or give you some insight as to the atmosphere of the shop. gotta take all good and bad reviews with a grain of salt and judge for yourself.

only thing i know about mirimar is that's where they trained in top gun!

  3. Chad Koeplinger. He was cool about it and actually got a nice, clean, accurate outline despite my writhing in pain the whole time!

Good thing he tattoos very fast, otherwise itd take me ten sittings to finish! Everyone in that shop tattoos fast. They were knocking out tattoos faster than episodes of Miami Ink. ;)

what did you end up getting? i think there was a thread about this, yeah?

  4. are there any other places i can look for pictures on what i can do for my knee? i feel so stumped. flowers keep coming to mind as a cool subject matter but i can t visualize what flowers would look like. one girl i work with got an oyster with a pearl on her knee and it looks so cool! i dont know how i feel about animal heads right now, to me it just doesn't seem to feel like it fits for me! i have 7 months before my appt. so i can keep brainstorming!

7 months is a long time to think of something to get. just keep researching and i'm sure you'll find something. Ask your artist for some ideas of what they'd like to put on knees. Something just might click.

  5. That's why you should watch The Increasing Bad Decisions of Todd Margret it's with David Cross and Will Arnett. David Cross wrote on AD.

as soon i saw that you mentioned will arnett and david cross, i went home and put on The Increasing Bad Decisions of Todd Margret. i had some good laughs, but my wife wasn't as into it. i'll have to watch it when she's not around.

  6. twin peaks, arrested development and america: the story of us.

the documentary on every important era of america is really well narrated and has amazing production. perhaps a personal favorite because i love the gilded age

Arrested Development is an all time favorite! So much random, messed up shit going on and each character is hilarious in their own way. The writing is pretty brilliant.
