    Hi - Again!

I'm a newbie, too, both here and to the world of tattoos. Just got my first 3 months ago. Looking forward to see the progress on your back piece!
  2. Absolutely HATE it!!! Maybe it's based on 26 years of being in the Army and spending a lot of time out in the heat without it. I just love having fresh air no matter how hot it is.
  3. ^^^^^^Ugh!!!!!!! Where would you ever get the idea that was a good way to heal fresh work? @Zmanlane - nice work!! The experts and more experienced folks here can offer you a better opinion but it looks like it is healing OK. I would only offer to be very judicious in applying creams or lotions - a little goes a very long way!
  4. I am trying to find the Skull with intertwined Snake tattoo that my Dad had. He passed away back in 1997 and I regret that I never really talked to him about it - although it gave me the inspiration to get my first this year. And, I have not been able to find any pictures of him where it shows. It was fairly large and on his left upper arm. My Dad went into the Marines at the end of WWII - turned 18 in 1946. He finished Boot Camp and then was transferred into the Reserves so he returned home and was living with his parents - so I am guessing he did not get his tattoo then. When the Korean Conflict broke out, he was activated and was sent to southern California - and ultimately deployed to Korea - so my guess is that he got tattooed there somewhere in the vicinity of El Toro air base in the early 1950s. I assume he selected from a piece of flash - and I remember it to have been more greenish in color, although perhaps that was just the fading of the years and sun damage. Can anyone steer me toward flash of that era or Southern California artists back then? I've done a bunch of Google searches but have had no luck so far. This is him taken at Boot Camp in July 1946 - high shooter in his platoon. The picture was sent to our local newspaper where my Grandmother was a proof reader so she was able to keep the original. I have it hanging in my den in a case with a WWII M1 Garand like he is holding - I am also still looking for that rifle in his hands. I know the serial number and keep looking for it to turn up among the millions that survived the war.
  5. Lynn and I both hate AC - even when we lived in Northern VA we rarely used it. Generally, we turned it on for visitors. The only Heat Pump we have is for the pool. The house is heated using a radiant heat system that uses a boiler to heat water and then push it through lines in the floor. It is a nice steady heat source without drafts or dust. The only downside is that you can't adjust the temp upward quickly if you are cold.
  6. Yup, that's me. And I've been called much worse. ?
  7. Thought I'd posted these the other morning - probably forgot to hit the submit button. This is the time of the year that I love our place the most - affectionately referred to as Mighty Mortgage Manor. We spend a lot of time working on fences, the garden, Lynn's plot of fresh flowers, cutting grass...and even find some time to spend in our pool (we filled in an old one and built a new one last year). But, the mornings are so peaceful - sitting on the back porch with a cup of coffee is so tranquil. Here's my view from the back porch, looking over our small lake. Sunrise from the front porch: The pool from the back porch (still growing some grass to cover where they dug up the yard for the water and electrical lines): The front of the house: And the back of the house: All four seasons are wonderful here in the Northeast, but I just thrive in the Spring and Summer months.
  8. Ooooh, I love the hot weather. Of course, we rarely get days above the low 90s here in the Northeast - but deal with humidity. When we built our home, we opted not to put air conditioning in it - just lots of windows and doors. We almost always have a breeze and even in the high humidity, sleeping under a ceiling fan is heaven. The only change now, after getting my tattoo, is that I have to watch my tanning so laying in the sun is now changed.
  9. This has to be the longest-lasting train wreck in history. As much as I don't want to look, I can't help myself.
  10. @oboogie Our Yellow Lab, Sunny, just turned a year old in May. She was also a challenge to potty train and has a stubborn streak. But you truly just have to love them when they give you that look and a snuggle.
  11. I love that traditional work! My next will be some version of a traditional eagle.
  12. Nice!!! Listen to music and dream!! https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=the+cure&view=detail&mid=52B04F4650DEB1E19E8452B04F4650DEB1E19E84&FORM=VIRE

    Hello

Welcome to the forum! Don't worry about your English! Our Italian is much worse!!
  14. Welcome!! Lots of ideas floating around here and much experience to help. Let's see some pictures!! Those cows deserve some exposure, too!!!
  15. Welcome to the forum! I'm a newbie to the forum and tattooing so I can't offer any wisdom on your question - but I think it is looking great so far!
  16. Just saw that a local artist, Ryan Asley Malarkey, will be on Season 8.
  17. It looks fantastic!! It's only a matter of time before I move inside my biceps...it's interesting to hear the pain differential between the inside and outside, I wonder if the nerves for the forearm are centered inside in the same way that the lower leg nerves are centered on the inside of the knee (I learned that after knee surgery on the inside of my right knee cut across those nerves - I have no feeling on the outside of my right knee unless I rub the incision. Then I can feel it on the opposite side of my knee.)
  18. My artist gave me an estimate when I had my initial consult with him. I made my appointment and put down a deposit - when he did the work he was just about perfect in his timing estimate. When I went back in for a quick touch up and to add some shading, he didn't require a deposit and then didn't charge me for the shading - he got a great tip though.
  19. Welcome to the forum! I'm a newbie here and to tattooing so I can't offer any value on your question - but it looks great in any case. I look forward to seeing it when it's healed!
