  1. i live in a small town in southwestern ohio, next to wright patterson afb (the largest air force base and at one point the largest military base in north america) also home to the national airforce museum. National Museum of the USAF - Virtual Tour

if you are ever in the area, it is worthy of checking out. it's free and pretty impressive even if you aren't a total airplane geek like me. dayton, ohio is close by and home to several wright brothers historical sites and museums. but really, fairborn's biggest and coolest thing going on happens this time of year because the guy who owns most of the shops downtown is a total halloween/moster collector and the majority of the stores are costume and halloween related, including a couple haunted houses. so around mid september he decorates all of downtown and it keeps getting bigger each year. i'll try and take some pics, i may have to use my phone so the pics wont be as good as the camera since it's currently out of commission.

fairborn is also home to the bookery Bookery Fantasy Comics, Collectibles, Games, and Toys which apparently has just had part of their sign stolen.

  2. @dcostello that's because rancid is great! haha and thanks for mentioning the horrible crows, i was out of the loop on that getting released so went and picked it up. i've already listened to it several times today.
  3. a vegan place that serves cheese? sounds like a totally modern southern style meal though, i swear ive got to make it to california sometime. it feels like the bay area has been calling me my whole life

for dinner i had bob evans; sausage, biscuits, eggs, hashbrowns, coffee and a snickerdoodle cookie.

  4. I think it was Dringenberg that said "Once you become a pickle, you can never go back to a cucomber"

    it was tim hendricks

and i think sometimes you don't know that you've stepped in shit until you smell it and the next time you walk through the yard, you are more aware and trying to avoid stepping in it. lesson learned, and youre never to old to learn and usually the best way to learn is from a mistake.

  5. haha, chickenfoot! the only radio i'll listen to is npr. otherwise, it will be silence if something has gone awry with my cd player/ipod/etc.

in relation to that, the lid on this little boom box i've been using while doing work on the house for some reason wouldn't stay closed so i had to tape it shut to get it to work and untape/retape it everytime i wanted to change a cd. since im preparing to move i don't have a lot of cds that i didn't pack and couldnt use the ipod because it doesnt have anywhere for it to plug in....so i listened to

off with their heads-in desolation on repeat for the first couple of hours, then the draft-in a million pieces on repeat for a few hours, and finished it off with a storm of light-a we wept the black oceans within for several hours.

  6. Going to see Zappa Plays Zappa in November . Cant wait .

the guy i work with saw them at a small theatre a couple years back and then a month ago when they opened for return to forever. didn't have the cash to go to either show but he said it was pretty incredible.

  7. Now THATS a fucking Meatmen story.

there's a lot of other mention worthy weirdness that happened at that show, hahaha. the shirt i got from that show is on it's last leg, sleeves have completed detached and now several holes are starting to spread with each time i wear it. the meatking records design that was on the back is completely gone.

  8. Boy, I just finished The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia.

Not sure if I'm depressed or feel great about my life...

if it makes you feel any better, i grew up with folks just like that in the north georgia. and at the moment, i'm surrounded by them daily here in ohio. nothing but copious amounts of doom metal and hillbilly country music can cure any depression you might feel.
