  1. His / Hers eagle tattoos by Chris David - Government Street Tattoo (Victoria, BC) hers: "could you make my eagle more feminine please" his: "just make mine a good ol U S of Eh screamin' eagle"
  2. --> profile -------> see all activity --------------->gallery (left hand menu) --> images duh ok then
  3. How do you navigate from your profile to your gallery images? There was an easy way to do that before the migration to the new site...is it possible to add a shortcut button on the user profiles? Maybe I'm missing something obvious... ?
  4. a 2 year wait to get my backpiece started. which was great in retrospect. it really helped me solidify and articulate what exactly I wanted. it made the end-result that much more meaningful and the act of tattoo more powerful as well.
  5. hey there bud, welcome the first step is knowing what exactly you want. once you got that figured you just need to set foot in a tattoo shop with a hardcopy of your reference, articulate what you want, drop your deposit and lock in your appointment. this is the hardest part of getting a tattoo - knowing exactly what you want. cheers and good luck.
  6. this is all sounds very complicated...and I'm not just talking about the OPs tattoo idea
  7. wow @otisc coming together really nicely ! and kudos on the pace so far, keep it up, you're arm will feel like hamburger but it will be done and livedin before you know it bud ! cheers
  8. update...from my Sunday Takeover
  9. I've now been thinking of ideas for a 2nd layer...considering a black panther blastover squinched between the Dragon Eyes, incorporating the arcs into the flow so they aren't completely lost. Salty Walt did a cosmic panther recently also @Graeme posted an old Devita painting of a panther which both illustrate the vision I had in my head. Also thinking of a bright lemon yellow burst behind the falcon. I'm not in a rush to mess with my front though. What do you cats think? Too crazy?
  10. Here is some full frontal nudity from my Lived In Tattoos - Sunday takeover, wanted to share on LST though... Falcon - Bobby Tripp 2009 Escher Dragon - Steve Batt 2005 Polkadot Dragon - Scott Rusnak 2012 Psych Tiger - OllieXXX 2012 Dragon Eyes - OllieXXX 2013 Collar Snake - Shawn O'Connor 2013 ...this illustrates how it looks when tattoos from multiple artists blend together. also what happens when you tattoo your ribs first and then the front after (i.e. space squeeze) - 2 questions that have been asked on this forum in the past.
  11. @oboogie i like the closed peony bud in the back! like the colours too. nice one
  12. Sometimes I see tattooers "tack" thin lines like that during a linework session to map out negative space and shading gradients. That would be my guess.
  13. @Geeza the lines are fine. it's normal. just relax and let your body do its thang to heal.
  14. @BrookR70 did nothing wrong by walking out on a walk in. If you don't feel comfortable, you are free to walk. You might not get a red carpet reception though the next time you step into the shop to set something up, so there's that too. But once those machines are set-up though, you're locked in ! Don't waste peoples time. Cheers
  15. In my 13 years of getting tattooed I have NEVER asked about cost of the tattoo upfront before getting started. I agree with the saying "if you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it" when it comes to tattoos. You either want the tattoo or you don't. Now, I will ask for an estimate on how many hours or sessions so I can do some really really complex calculus to get an idea of total cost. The shop rate is usually displayed somewhere and I see nothing wrong with asking the tattooer directly what the shop rate is (if it isn't posted) or what their hourly rate is. But that's when I'm already committed to getting tattooed at that point. Don't go shopping for the best rate, it's tacky. You either want the tattoo or you don't. So here's a tip...take the shop rate and multiply by the max number of hours you can/will likely sit for. Bring cash to cover that. I've always walked out of a tattoo shop happy with my session, left a generous tip and still have enough leftover cash in my wallet to spend on beer, weed and pizza afterwards. To echo our dude @marley mission above, just go get tattooed and you'll get a feel pretty quickly how much a good tattoo costs. You may even be shocked to realize they cost much less than you think.
  16. I wouldn't be as concerned (after 2 weeks) with the water - it's fresh water, not chlorinated. I would be more worried about banging the tattoo against a rock or rubbing against the raft. Wear wet suit pants, problem solved!
  17. I got tattooed at the comic con in town last year. But only because the tattooer was in town for the show. The comic con organizer also owns and operates a popular tattoo studio / collectible shop in town so there is a dedicated area for the tattooing. It was a funny experience. Lounging half naked in my sunglasses with people in cosplay outfits getting nerd tatts. The newspaper photographer was all jacked (and polite) asking to take a photo of me once we started the tattooing. Some hipster Lucas Films tattoo artiste said all the white in my backpiece was "so unnecessary". And I saw the black power ranger while getting my smallest tattoo. It was fun but I was in-out and went home and ordered pizza.
  18. upcoming tattoo show n tell i've been invited to do the Sunday Takeover for Lived In Tattoos. See y'all on the 'gram this weekend !
  19. @Gingerninja My old reggae band opened for The Slackers in 2002. We were young and inspired, the Slackers gave us some good praise and feedback and told us to keep going, don't quit. Well we gave it a good run, played with them a few other times around the country and then moved on with life. Still a big Slackers fan, they played in Edmonton a few years ago we ended up having an after party at my house and Vic Ruggiero came to hang, he's a real down to earth cat. He remembered who I was from 10 years previous and I fanboy'd out that here is a musical icon of mine thumbing through my reggae and ska record collection and talking to me like I was an old bud. He crashed on my couch, we tucked him in and my dog and cat snuggled him to sleep, we almost carbon monoxide poisoned him from the fireplace lol. And then I'm cooking him breakfast in the morning, we're talking about our different everyday lives and music. We now keep in touch, I send him pics of my pug dog every couple of months to say what's up and have a laugh. Didn't think I was going to make this house show last weekend some acquaintances had set up. But after working the weekend on 4 hours of sleep I roll into the house party. Vic and all my buds all smile at me, invited me onto the red wurli and the rest is magic memories. Vic and I played Mellow Mood by Bob Marley and then a bunch of the other musicians at the house show took turns jamming along and singing songs. Vic is one hell of singer/songwriter/musician and one of the most geniune human beings I've been blessed to meet.
  20. haha @oboogie, oh I feel the same way. seriously have a big house party. take back the bottles the next day and get "dumb" and "dumber" tattooed on each other. too harsh ?

welcome. here's an idea - how about just get "a phoenix". keep it simple.
  22. no way i'm funding a tattoo of an animal in a top hat with a monacle. or a watercolour tattoo.
  23. no self-respecting tattooer would use this shit. it's a product designed by interlopers to fail. it cheapens and trivializes the art, craft and tradition of tattooing but moreso is offensive to the spirit of tattooing.
