DJDeepFried got a reaction from Kev in Do you ever wonder why?
I don't get the text thing, but it doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. Anybody who's considering getting a long quote -- I would direct them to this post which makes a pretty damn good case against.

I do think it's nutty to make the tattooers race against the clock like every other Top Chef-like reality show out there. Would they have a show called "America's Best Plastic Surgeon" and put a stopwatch on the guy doing a nose job? (Actually, I would watch that show, too.)

It's not a competition, honey. (But I'm still gonna win.)

DJDeepFried reacted to TrixieFaux in Tiger tattoos
Started this with James Spencer-Briggs last night. Normally I won't be wearing leopard print with it, it's just a jungle over here right now. Next appointment Sept 14th. My cat thought I should be taking pictures of her instead...
Edited to add better pic but it came out sideways for some reason...

Get what you dig. But since you asked for advice... I think it's a cool idea -- but I would consider a less literal, more graphic design. For example: a cool alien/robot head with a flying saucer or a rocket ship and stars and planets all around. You could still do the text: "I Believe" in a banner in English or "alienese" or both. I'd be stoked to have this on my arm (without the "Futurama" logo):

DJDeepFried reacted to TrixieFaux in The dreaded wait to be tattooed
Just got back from a consultation with James Spencer-Briggs...we are set to do a tiger on my arm in August!! So psyched.

My wife TrixieFaux is on LST all the time and I figured this is a good way to spy on her -- I mean, participate in a meaningful discussion about tattoos with other enthusiasts. Anyway, after lurking for some time, she finally goaded me into joining, so here I am.

Looks like a no from what I'm gathering. He's in it to make money (his words) and get all the hard earned information he can Google. His apprenticeship didn't move fast enough so he decided to throw it away and kickstart a career in his apartment.
Time has already told. You are indeed a scratcher. Here, you may not find what you're looking for exactly but there's a good chance you'll find what you should -- if you heed what experienced and established tattooers have to offer instead of throwing out whatever doesn't fit with your idea of how it should go.

Hey, everybody. This is my second tattoo -- and my first real post. Here it is after all three sessions with the lovely and talented Kim Saigh at Memoir Tattoo in L.A. Figured I'd wait to finish it off as a half-sleeve after I pay down my credit cards. Curious to know what you guys think I should do other than "trust my artist" (which I do). Some ideas are: rocks and water (which may be kinda boring) or a dragonfly -- but I'm open to anything. What say you?
