  1. I looked and couldn't find a thread on this topic, admins feel free to delete or merge this thread with an existing one if there is one. I love tattoos of frogs and toads. I'm not sure exactly why that is, because they aren't an animal that I think about that much in real life, but I think there are few tattoos that have as much folky charm as frogs and toads. I saw something on Instagram the other day, I can't remember where, but somebody was commenting on how toads, especially Japanese toads, can also have this real sense of menace. I think it's super cool that they work so well as a subject in both kinds of tattooing: Western traditional and Japanese. I know that a bunch of you here have frog tattoos, so let's see them, and post some of your favorites. Here's mine, done by El Monga at Aloha Tattoo, Barcelona. Monga does some of my favorite tattoos, they're so fun and playful and have a real magical feel to them. The tattoo is obviously healed.
  2. Yeah, I had to go to a photoshoot and have my makeup done and all that for the photos. Totally weird experience for somebody like me, but the photos are pretty funny.
  3. I had the seventh session on my back yesterday and we finally started in on the colour and crushed the tiger. There's still a bit of shading to do in the water, and we're still figuring out what to do with the snake with regard to scales or patterns, colours, etc., as well as what colours to do the maples, but I am super stoked on the progress we're making.
  4. Welcome @hhharkness. Like the above posters said, the tattoo looks fine. The "excessive" bleeding was because your artist put saniderm or an equivalent product over the fresh tattoo and it keeps the leaking plasma in, when it would otherwise be leaking into your clothing or bedding. There's a thread about healing with it here: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/tattoo-after-care/4795-tegaderm-saniderm-tatuderm-healing-process.html
  5. Did you post what reads like a bad Yelp review on a takeout chicken forum afterward? Because that's what I would have done.
  6. So not only did you approve the drawing, but it was on your forearm and took, what, a couple of hours or so on a body part you can easily see, and you didn't voice your concerns about the tattoo until after it was done? That's not the tattooer's fault. Have you contacted the artist about this at all, or are you just talking shit on the internet?
  7. I think if my first session was just lines it wouldn't have been so bad but because I got hit a bunch with the shader filling in the tiger stripes it was especially uncomfortable because unlike subsequent shading sessions that have focused on one area of my back, I had dried out and itchy patches of skin from my upper back down to my ass. That was the session that I stopped dry healing my tattoos.
  8. Go see Dan Sinnes in Luxembourg. He's in your part of the world and he does some of the nicest script anywhere.
  9. Wait for all that skin to get to the dry and itchy phase of healing. It will get worse before it gets better.
  10. I've never had a problem with this, though I believe there is some discussion of it elsewhere on the forum (maybe a thread about raised lines?), and usually when I've been drawn on it's with Sharpie, but I did once have an artist draw things on me with a surgical marker. The ink was violet, much like a stencil, if I remember correctly because it was a while ago. Maybe try that and see if you have better results with it?
  11. Despite the received wisdom that it hurts less if you're not wearing pants, my experience so far has been that if the pants are off, you're in for some serious hurting.
  12. Have we given up on the Latest Tattoo Lowdown thread? Because I like a thread where everybody posts their new tattoos instead of these individual threads that will be forgotten about within days.
  13. Valentine's Day tatbros! I have session seven on my back then. If I play my cards right maybe I'll get to keep my pants on this time.
  14. I see what you did there. Never enough barber tattoos if you truly #respecttradition.
  15. The client will blame the artist every time, but that doesn't mean that the client is right. If anybody has experienced any differently I'd like to hear it, but for every tattoo I have, every tattoo my wife has, and every tattoo I've ever seen happen, it's always been the customer who has to give that final okay before the tattooing starts. If a stencil goes on that has spelling or grammatical errors, it is ultimately up to the client to catch that. I'd really like to hear, for once, a client taking some responsibility for getting a bad tattoo.
  16. I don't blame tattooers here. When I've been getting tattooed and have seen people in the shop getting text tattoos, the client usually has to write down the text they want and that's what they get. In any case, the client always approves the drawing and the stencil before the needle hits. People get the tattoos they deserve.
  17. I feel like I'm not getting something here. You have a tattoo on your tricep you don't like so you're considering blacking out your bicep?
  18. @SeeSea It looks incredible. It's cool to see a picture like that too. Hope you were wearing some high-SPF sunscreen!
  19. Welcome! I completely agree with @kelzu about Chris Hold. I have a little tattoo from him and not only does he do nice tattoos, he's a really great guy. I totally recommend the experience and he would do an excellent lady head.
  20. @herewego Walter's is excellent and you can't go wrong with an Old Fashioned and oysters there.
  21. Welcome! I'd love to see pictures of the Crucifix tattoo. They were such a good band but I feel I hear very few people talking about them. Good to see them getting a little recognition.
  22. @CultExciter What else are you going to do because it's not like there's already a thread for posting your tattoos in. Maybe somebody should start one.
  23. I appreciate that you asked me if it was okay before texting me an ass pic. You are a gentleman.
  24. I would start a thread about it.
