  1. Looks like your search is focused in the Manchester area... How about Danny Rossiter at Rain City?

I looked at his work but it isn't the style I am after for this tattoo. (He does some awesome stuff though!)

Thanks - I shall have a read through that.

i would either go color or all black n grey.. For a phoenix definitely all color..

I should have been clearer - the phoenix is black and grey and there are other parts of the design which are colour.

  2. Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place, I'm a newbie!

I am looking to get a black/grey phoenix on my back (with a small amount of colour)

I have had some suggestions and been to some shops to chat to some guys but being a newbie to all this (finding a decent artist! my first tattoo was an impulsive walk in years ago and it is crap) I am not sure what I am looking for!

My first choice before I started looking around was this guy:- Adam Pekr https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150285110274157.333475.22647969156&type=3

But then someone suggested Jordan https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.316770695028235.75065.178264592212180&type=3

Which one would you choose? What should I be looking for in a good tattoo?

Any advice would be gratefully received!

  3. If you are williong to go to London, there are several options well worth the time and money.

Into You Tattoo & Piercing / London & Brighton - Location in Brighton and London

Frith Street Tattoo | World famous Frith street tattoo, custom tattoos situated in the heart of Soho, London. Walk ins welcome! - Several people here have work from several of the tattooers at Frith St. All world class options here.

Those are the two that come to mind. Kinda busy today so I can't get real deep into options. I recommend checking out those shops and their artists.

Thanks for the suggestions :D Firth Street are world class - one day I will get a tattoo from there!

  4. I too, like to watch having my blood drawn. Also, I donate blood as much as I can, excluding where having a new tattoo disallows me from it.

It's a huge needle that goes into your arm, they roll the vein sometimes, and they take several vials before even taking the pint of your blood.

The intial feeling makes me feel sick, and the feeling of a needle in your arm sucks... but it's odd and interesting to watch yourself lose a pint of blood. the tube that allows the blood to go into the bag gets warm from your blood, and it's like, what am I doing?

Sometimes, its a little comparable to being tattooed. it's interesting and fascinating to watch, and painful, with great results. Lol except being tattooed doesn't almost make me pass out everytime.

I am a regular blood donor too (although I will have to have a break to get a tattoo now!) and I really don't mind the needles.

My Ex-husband hated needles, can't look when he blood drawn, nearly passed out when I gave birth but he still insisted on getting a tattoo! He had to do several short sessions as he nearly passed out every time!

  5. Yeah cheapness is another thing to blame on bad tattoos. The impatience to get something "now" without being able to afford a good artist really screws people. I understand not have the cash. I make little enough cash to be able to qualify for government aid for some things. I am not rich by any means. I just save up when it comes to the tattoos.

I'd rather wait and get something awesome from someone good, meaning aside, then be impatient and just go get something cheap.

I think the impatience some people have is a big reason for bad tattoos. BTW, when I say bad I'm not totally talking about what they're getting, but the quality of it. Will it last, will the design look good in 10 years? 20? 50?

The impatience thing is the reason I have a bad tattoo  I wanted one straight away, didn't know any better, walked into a shop and got one done.

I am now older (and hopefully wiser!) and I was going to get a quote tattoo on my arm, started googling came across some tattoo forums and pictures of awesome work so now the quote is going to go on the wall at home and I am planning a better tattoo for me!

  6. You have a serious amount of world class options in the UK. What kind of tattooing do you like? There are several forum goers here who would be happy to provide firsthand reviews of artist and shops/studios in the UK.

I am thinking of a black and grey phoenix to start with!

Im a northerner too!! have you been to Manchester tattoo convention or Manchester tattoo tea party? i would suspect not from what you've said? if so theyre well worth a visit!

I missed the tattoo tea party (wouldn't have been able to go that weekend anyway :() I am thinking of going to the convention, just trying to persuade a friend of mine to go with me so I am not just a lonely chick wandering around!

Im from Manchester too! Theres a few great studios around, Sacred Art in Chorlton is brilliant, Rain City in the centre of town is also great, Blue Blood is good, also a bit further afield but worth checking out is Octopus tattoo in Derby.

A couple of those have been recommended already on a different forum ;)

  7. Hi all! I can across your site while researching a new tattoo :D

I have a small, bad tattoo that I got impulsively when I was a teenager! I didn't get any more done as my then boyfriend who I ended up marrying didn't like tattoos on women! I have now got rid of him and part of my treat will be to get some new tattoos! This time I am researching them properly!

Looking forward to browsing the forum :D
