  1. I know this thread is over a month old but I found this a couple days ago and I love love love her face! Not so much the mouse.
I've been loving the Gibson girl heads Ron Wells has been doing lately and was wondering if anyone on here has an adaptation of a Gibson girl. I particularly like "The Eternal Question" based on Evelyn Nesbit - Wikipedia' date=' the free encyclopedia[/url'], who has a pretty fascinating/tragic life story. I didn't used to think I'd want a girl head...
  2. Welcome...Ya... A picture and a little bit about yourself, your tattoo, why you wanna cover it.. That would help out a lot, and your location so the members here can recommend a great shop based on the other info......

  3. Make no mistake, I did the whole new to tattoos and I wanna control as much as I can.. But by #3 I was already giving my tattooer total artistic liberty.. That's easier to do once you get to a comfort/confidence level with your tattooer(all mine by the same artist).

I'm already planning to go a couple hours for a lady head and am confident in the artists ability based on what I've seen and recommendations. Hopefully after the 1st if the year I can put something in motion.

Seeing better how things work here on LST should give you confidence in choosing the right artist for a particular piece, and move from 'getting tattoos' to 'collecting tattoos' confidently..

If I'm off base here folks, someone please chime in :)

  4. Thanks! I emailed him a picture of my back and a board I made (yeah yeah yeah' date=' pinterest, I know) of flowers and placements etc, asked about doing black/gray maybe red too, so hopefully it's helpful. He came up w/the cherry blossoms based off a picture I had saved for about 7 years, and I really like them, so fingers crossed![/quote']

Cool, look forward too seeing what you get!

  5. I'm waiting for confirmation on an appt tomorrow' date=' so thought I would ask..have you ever made an appt and walked in just w/ideas in your head and nothing concrete? We are off for Christmas break until the 2nd of January and I thought it would be a good time to have something done, and it will be well past the initial sore to the touch stage so there's no worries of the preschoolers climbing on me.[/quote']

My dagger was sort of like that.. When I made the appointment, I had actually stopped to ask about an issue with a previous tattoo and asked about what would be cool in this blank spot. Rays says I can put a dagger in that spot, and I was like when and gimmie a ball park for price and I'll be here.

I think if you dig your tattooer and their style and trust them, I feel like you can get a cool tattoo by letting them have a little say in what you get. I feel like if it's something they really want to tattoo then you get that extra something from the entire exp.

  6. me in my big pimpin days.
    Hahaha big pimpin...
Well since a lot of you have seen me on IG and in person' date=' and not only do I look dashing in this picture (RARE!), but my arm and shoulder tattoos are visible... enjoy! [/quote'] This is a good pic! I don't have many good pics, none where my tattoos are really visible.

A slightly older one of just me.

  7. Yes' date=' a focus on a subject for a certain day is the best way to play it. Never go under the shop minimum. Last shop I was at did a Jerry special for his birthday and picked a few classics. People got some nice designs but not below the minimum. Whether or not it's Elm Street or any other shack doesn't have any bearing on the subject; if they still did $13 tattoos my opinion would still be the same.[/quote']

Gotcha! I was kinda getting that vibe!

Like I say, I'm still learning. I try to understand what little I can from the outside, as sometimes I feel compelled to try and help others understand. I try to steer ppl here to the forums but a lot of ppl 'don't have time' or are uninterested in forums based on previous exp with them.

Any who, thanks for bearing with me!

  8. What's up everyone' date=' I have been lurking this site for a while, this is the first time I posted. My name is Ben Vigil, I am a tattoo apprentice at Brave New World tattoo in Denver, Colorado. Like most of you, I am passionate about tattoos and love looking at tattoos and artwork. I currently only have a few tattoos under my belt and have been apprenticing here for about a year and a half. The first year I was not allowed to tattoo. I feel very fortunate to be able to work and learn in a shop where tattoos are taken seriously. I look forward to getting to know the users who post on the forum. I have been skateboarding my whole life, former pro. I love hip-hop, punk rock and metal. I enjoy performing hip-hop and poetry as well as karaoke. I am also working on a sci-fi graphic novel in my spare time. Please check out my tattoos and artwork on Instagram: @bornw1thoutaface[/quote'] Welcome to the site!
welcome! skateboarding is fun. my knees do not agree anymore... enjoy LST (you will..)
Yeah me too. My knees can't take it. I'll stick to tattooing them instead!

Ha! Same here! Blew both out skating and it eventually lead to me stopping sports l together.

  9. Ehhhh.. wouldn't go that far. I'd reword it' date=' "a thing that has sprung up in the last ten years." Or "Tatty zapper party time!" Or "That day where you don't make money tattooing people who don't really want tattoos." Blame that party animal Pecker guy! :D[/quote']

Regardless, many very reputable shops are doing this, I believe Elm St did them this go around, albeit at normal size and at normal rates.. Does the normal charge make it less gimmicky? Does Elm St doing it make it more acceptable or does it make them less creditable? Serious questions here, I'm still very green to tattoos and being tattooed and still trying to understand some things..

  10. My arms are all pick and stick tattoos' date=' and if I were to start over with the same aesthetic, I would definitely get large tattoos in the large spaces first. Nothing sucks more than wanting a big tattoo in a certain area and realizing that you don't have enough room for it. Also, when advising clients on where to put a design that they have already chosen, I tell them to put it in a spot that is the same size and shape as the design. So if I were starting my arms over again, I would start with larger pieces on the inner and outer biceps, large vertical designs down the backs of the forearms(mid upper bicep, over the elbow to upper wrist) or a large diagonal design wrapping from back of the elbow to front of the wrist, central/circular designs over the ditch, and then porkchop sized pieces on the inner forearms and wrists. It is always fun to put smaller tattoos between the spaces that are already well-framed and fit nicely in the area. That is just my own opinion on what I think looks best in terms of placement on the arms, but really it is up to you. I think the most solid course of action is to definitely start from the top to the bottom and place things where they fit best.[/quote']

    Great advice IMO!

I'm kinda doing what you are talking about OP, but am kinda in the same boat(to some extent) as Cltattooing but not entirely.. I'm kinda on the fence about back ground. One tattooer asked me while getting my last piece when I was going to start getting the traditional dots and stars to fill the background and my tattooer looked at him and said the plan is to fill space with tattoos and some mini's right now, then he said that I had a long way to go before I should be worried about that. Couldn't have said it better.. Personally, my tattooer and I are concentrating on getting the tattoos I want, where I want them and where they fit. Once all that is done we will discuss background.

  11. I think when I finally upgrade from my current gen xbox and high end laptop' date=' i will go the "build your own gaming pc" route. There is just so much customization and such a cost/performance/use ratio that you cant get with consoles. I am actually really excited to build a pc. I should think about the fact that my laptop has the power to run any game at 60fps so maybe I should just use my laptop.[/quote']

My brother in law was a HUGE xbox guy, when he started school for computers he made the switch and now has built a kick ass gaming computer with multiple monitors and has gotten big into twitch for streaming his game and chatting.

I've considered the move myself but don't really have the time or motivation to play anymore.
