  1. Sadness and woe! I took my new puppy in for her second check-up and first round of shots and got some expensive news. :( Her eyelids roll inward and as a result hair is irritating her eyes. It'll require surgery. The only good part is that as long as it doesn't cause infection in the meantime the surgery can wait until she gets spayed to kill two birds with one stone. Also, seeking advice on rear dewclaws. Info online is mixed. I despise removing random bits for no reason, but some people say the dewclaws are an injury risk so I'm unsure. I've seen firsthand that they are functional on front paws but I've never had a dog have them on the rear before this so any input on that is appreciated. :)

    Fitness!

Exactly. By day 30 it ends up at something ridiculous like 5 minutes. By then I will very likely give it up just because that sounds incredibly boring but we'll see. :) I tried the paleo thing and found that I spent so much time worrying about food that there was no way it was worth it. Nutritionally, it seems mostly sound, but it really took south of the enjoyment out of my life that I decided not to care. Have you had similar feelings at all? Not trying to discourage you or anything, I'm honestly wondering if I'm the only person in the universe so wimpy about it.

    Fitness!

Yep, jealous of all the boxing talk. I'm obligated to do it now. :) In the meantime I'm doing a couple 30 day challenges in addition to my usual and am finding the plank surprisingly difficult. Up to 40 seconds or so it's easy enough, but much more than that gets a bit hard. Clearly I have no core muscles

    Fitness!

Ah true. The wonders of the internet. Maybe a bag should be my next investment then.

    Fitness!

I've always wanted to try boxing! My work hours dont really permit going to a local boxing gym, unfortunately. Is there any benefit to getting a bag and starting at home? I'd worry I was doing everything completely wrong if I tried on my own.

    Fitness!

The only fitness thread a search turned up was ancient so here we go. Anybody into fitness? Weight loss, running, weight lifting, yoga, anything. I want to know what you like and what you're doing with it lately! Me: I'm working on losing weight and getting stronger, but I also just really enjoy working out. Bodyweight or free weights. I want to set up a home gym eventually. :) I read the Nerd Fitness blog regularly and do the nerdiest workouts possible, so if anyone else is a fitness nerd I automatically want to be besties lol
  7. Life is swell: -Down about 20 pounds and up lots of muscle -Bought my first house before turning 26 -Promotion continues to look more and more likely for me, although the whole thing is this sort of nebulous semi-secret ordeal.
  8. I share this video on Facebook every once in a while just to remind everyone it exists. <3

    First tattoos

Whoops! Sorry bout that! I'm still in quarantine here so I didn't think to check the other forums for such a thread.
  13. I shared mine in my intro thread, if you're curious, but I'd like to see everyone's first tattoos and hear their stories. How'd you choose it? How'd you decide on placement? How long ago did you get it? Are you happy with it now?
  14. Similarly, 18 year old me would gone for a huge Korn back piece. I had it all planned from the time I was 16 until whenever it was that I realized that was dumb. "Aging" a tattoo idea a while is never a bad thing.

    Hello:)

I'll have to get my Dalek with help later. Solo phone pics aren't working out. And my koi I'm not thrilled with currently so I'll show that off after it gets more attention. The yin-yang was my first. I dislike the placement now and the tattoo itself is eh. The dragonfly and kanji on my wrist are a tribute to a friend who passed a little over a year ago. The kanji on the knuckles are a work reference. The dove is my peace sign. I'm a hippie on the inside. :) Questions/thoughts?
  16. I have some experience in the area of scars and I will say the longer you wait before doing anything to this, the more you can do to deal with the scarring. The deeper tissue needs more time than the outside, so give that plenty of time and be sure it's healed FIRST. Once that is done then you want to do daily massages of the area with gentle lotion, or emu oil. The massage is the important part. Spend a good ten minutes or so, maybe just before bed. Over time you can break down the scar tissue, it'll soften and be less raised. In my experience tattooing over scars does not hurt more. I did have some blurring over wider scars, but thinner ones did not affect the tattoo at all. My advice to you would be to get an artists opinion now, try to determine for sure whether that was in infection or something else. Then take a few months or a year to baby that skin and get the scarring as minimal as possible, go back, and talk with an artist again.

    Hello:)

Google can probably explain better than me, but for me specifically gender-fluid means some days I'm more of a dude, some days more of a chick, and every now and then I'm sort of neither. Physically, I'm female. Today, coincidentally, I'm also mentally female. :)

    Hello:)

New to the forum, not to tattoos. :) Right now I have a few hours of work done, hard to estimate as I tend to get a little done at a time. My left arm is a sleeve in progress, left calf features a Dalek, right arm has my first and rather regrettable tattoo, and left hand has a dove and kanji on 3 knuckles (my newest, not yet healed). I'm 25/gender-fluid. Like nerdy things, dogs, and industrial machinery in addition to tattoos. I speak a little Japanese, and know a whole lot about lunch meat. So that's me in a nutshell, looking forward to getting to know people! :)
  19. Ha. Like I said, to each his own! If your skin is the canvas you'd damn well better love the art, so I support anything a person REALLY wants.
  20. Personally I disagree that a jaguar in its entirety would look much better than the pattern. I tend to think big cat tattoos look a little tacky. To each his own. That said, I do want to reiterate the cautions you've already gotten. A back piece is a pretty big commitment for someone who insists that pain will restrict them to one tattoo. What happens if you can't sit through it? Will you be okay with the partially done work in that case? And if you do sit through to the end of this one, are you REALLY sure you feel that strongly about this? People tend to mature a lot between 19 and 25 or so. How might your wants change by then? Additionally, that's a lot to heal and hide? If you're a woman you're not going to want to wear a bra for a week or more so there's that to consider. And even without that particular problem just a shirt is going to be uncomfortable. I highly recommend that you think this over a while. Like, a few months a while.
