  1. Just lost my mom, my dad passed 22 years ago. I'd like to get something in their honor but I'm having some trouble with ideas for a design. Not sure if I should incorporate their names, portrait, etc. I know it's a personal decision but, maybe someone could spark an idea.
  2. Yeah...I kind of figured I must be sleeping in an awkward position to try to avoid leaning on it but, just seemed to be going on longer than I thought it should. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Got my first tattoo a little over a week ago on upper arm/shoulder area. The tattoo and surrounding area seem perfectly fine, no pain, minimal to no scabbing, started peeling a bit....pretty much a perfect first experience. In the last few days I've started feeling some shoulder/muscle aches...is there any possibility that this indicates some sort of infection, despite no visible signs on the surface?
  4. Yes, it is on my upper arm/shoulder area. Ok..Good to know that there are differences in healing based on body location as well.
  5. First tattoo yesterday and I'm having no fluids (blood or otherwise), no visible scabbing yet, no discomfort at all. Artist put some gel substance on, and plastic wrap. Told me to take it off after at least two hours. Then no further coverings and only some aquaphor or lubriderm Thursday. I assume that the healing process also depends on the artist's technique? 7. Getting my first tattoo tomorrow. If using the Tegaderm, do I wait the initial time to remove the gauze/bandage from the shop, shower and wash the area, air dry, apply aquaphor or other product and then apply the Tegaderm? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I appreciate all of the input. We've come up with a different take on the design. If you're familiar with what the eternal flame at JFK's gravesite looks like...there will be a ring, shaded in black/gray with the hebrew letters at the front, in negative space and flames rising up from the center of the ring, behind the letters. The original design was something I had imagined, based on one I had seen done with a different hebrew name. I'm really not looking for something elaborate for this so, yes, the design is going to seem pretty basic. I'm working with Guy Waisman at Love Hate in NYC.
  9. The drawing is based on what I wanted for the design....to incorporate a hebrew name into the flame graphic. The shop and artist are mentioned on here and was recommended by one of the artists at NYA. My interpretation of your comment is that don't like it.
  10. The artist I chose came up with a design. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Thank you. I actually contacted one of the artists at New York Adorned he recommended a couple of others at that shop and also someone at Love Hate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I might if there was a really compelling idea but, I've been mulling this over for about three years. The flame is significant because all synagogues have one of these eternal lights (nowadays it's obviously electric) and it reminds me that the memories live on. By the way...not just Nimoy, Shatner is also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Actually, Nimoy was Jewish. The live long and prosper hand sign was actually used during Jewish blessings. Anyway, my best friend was a big Star Trek fan and we always used to go see the movies when they premiered. Obviously, Wrath of Khan was the big one at the time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks! I'm in the New York City area. I'm thinking of a memorial tattoo for my best friend. I have an idea for some elements...an eternal flame with my friends name in Hebrew lettering (perhaps intertwined with the flame) and the quote, " I have been, and always shall be, your friend."
