That is a sad thing to hear. I found that I started hating what I do simply because it is a job now, my sister says the same as her art is a business. If you do think about it though would you be happier doing anything else? I know I would never be as happy doing anything else, than what I do now even though the "business" has corrupted my view of my work.

I would never go to Yahoo answers for advice for anything...it came up on a google search for something else and I clicked through. I just don't understand how someone's mind actually works like that....... I can understand people may not like the art but, what the hell?!

I agree with the feeling more comfortable with a tattooed body, and I just started very recently. I have always been drawn to it, and am not starting the process, feeling better the more area that is covered.

As a man with more suits than necessary I might be able to offer some advice. (NYC area as well!). What is your price range? Will you wear it everyday? What season? What type of event? (Work, dinner, funeral, all-purpose?)

In my personal experience every I know that is heavily tattooed, are actually the nicer people I've met. It is usually the guy with 1 or 2 tattoos that got them for the "tough" factor that are usually the assholes. After I got my recent outline done I was approached at my job by a few collueges (I was sitting in my car with my pant leg up putting on some lotion) and they all started showing a lot of work done (very very much to my surprise!). Remember that these are the usual suit+tie crowd you see in the financial district in NYC. In my opinion we are very much judged (and judge others) by how they appear whether we like it or not. We just have to remember that one "look" can have different associations for different people. I wear a 3-piece suit at work so people have my attention, but slip back into my metal shirts and jeans afterwards so I can become one again with my "normal" life.

I have to say no matter the industry you are in that is very weird...sit ins? A "sit in" sounds similar to "can I copy off of you?" as we all know from our days back in school. As far as I can see he does not convey a sound appearance, with all of the multi-posts, heavy slang, etc; just seems off... Also is there any chance you can post up a screenshot of one of his tattoos?

Since my tattoo artist is currently on vacation I will ask everyone here. My tattoo is still very itchy sometimes. It just hit the 2 week mark and am not sure if it is even healed yet. (I read the other thread about leg tattoos possibly taking longer.) Is it normal for the tattoo to stay very itchy after two weeks? I was just wondering if there is a possibility that I am allergic (however rare) to the ink, since this is my first tattoo, although I could just be bitching without cause.

I understand you weren't trying to be an asshole, I was just responding as a spokesman for the generally misinformed masses. No matter what you are a master of now you were once naive and ill-educated in the beginning; something I feel everyone forgets from time to time. This I feel is universally human in nature. As to my current and future tattoos, they are already making me feel more comfortable in my own skin for the first time. Weird as it may sound to some but I would be more at ease looking at a skull and demons on my skin then the bare skin itself.

since I do try to keep my sources mostly secret, I will not post direct links, BUT I will say that there are mostly add free site(s) that have streams of just about any TV Show, Movie ever produced. This said, I do encourage people to pay for Shows/Movies when they can.

From my perspective the reason they might be charging is due to the cost of online hosting and collaboration of images. Against popular belief image hosting cost TONS of money if there are enough people connecting to it. Hosting + programmers = a lot of money. Maintaining a dynamic database of images requires constant upkeep and as stated previously bandwidth is getting expensive. Depending on how the site is setup, it if has enough traffic hosting itself can start at 250-500 a month alone, never mind the cost of the web engineer that has to support it. Then again, it might be "supply and demand". If there are people are willing to pay there are people trying to cash in on the idea.

I do not no how easily this transfers over to the world of tattooing/art but in the computer industry we commonly display code/programs that have very explicit terms of use around its distribution/use. I am not talking about massive Fortune 1000 companies but people like me who do it as a hobby after work. There are a TON of pre-made templates for terms of use out there that were written by lawyers but released for the every day guy to use. I have one that I attach and it is just a game of fill in the blanks. These Terms of Use are strong enough to hold up in court 90% of the time.

Haha, no I never actually got it done (luckily). I do know someone who got a full arm of "Only God Can Judge Me" and a lot of other religious symbols done, shortly after which he decided it was not for him. I had only drawn these on with markers for years, since my god-fearing mother would not let me get tattooed until I was no longer living with her.

Since I am never home because of work I haven't had TV in years and never missed a day! Netflix and other streaming sites fit the bill for me (plus they are global!)

Well I do have to say I was not that well informed until recently (I have read every post here and have been researching on my own). With all of the horrible, shit, backwards advice or knowledge that a lot of people have out there it is hard for someone that knows nothing to sort through the garbage. The world of tattooing and being tattooed is one that (at least to me and a lot of people I know) is very "mysterious". To sum up this thread (since I do not care to return to it) I will sum up with a long-winded analogy. Which goes as follows: It is easy to say "Wow what bad choices, wrong guy, wrong style ect. when you know the industry. I myself like I am sure a lot of customers are not well informed either through anti-tattoo propaganda, shitty references (dood my guy is DA BEST EVER!), and general secrecy around the industry itself. To compare I will say this. I work in the computer industry, but not as 95% of the population knows it. For me to say to you "Wow you didn't know what a beowolf-cluster was? Holy moly you dont understand Change Management relating to business application impact modeling?!" would be similar to saying the quote above to someone who has little knowledge of the tattoo industry. People like me need to be more informed. It is extremely overwhelming to go for that first tattoo (hell I've been trying for years) when you are thrown into a foreign world as I was. You not only do not know your options but sometimes get derailed by a few tough guys or bad timing! As to bubbleberry, I do NOT regret my decision to get this piece done. I am not going to laser it off. I have stared at it day and night since I got it and am starting to like it a lot more. It may not be the greatest tattoo in history but it is a part of me now and I like it. The only tattoos I would have ever regretted would be the ones (thank god I didn't) I would have gotten when I was drawing on myself in middle-school high-school (mostly band logos and a cross [atheist now]). Overall I am very happy at the information and advice I have seen or been given so far on LST and am extremely grateful for all of it (thanks everyone!). I feel much MUCH more informed in the area (by no means an expert) but love the art I have seen, and am so glad all you tattooers put in all that work to continue this amazing style of art! Also thank you whoever reads all of this, as it was a bit long-winded.

I want to go as far as my job will let me....which being that I travel to different countries I just realized I have to watch out! I've heard that tattoos can be very taboo in other cultures. This also adding to the fact that I am client facing 100% of the time. So...far the plan is to stop at the wrists and collar, otherwise I think everything else is fair game.

This not coming from an artist myself but... Isn't saying you can learn a skill in 2 weeks regardless of subject matter, offering the damned near impossible? I point this out especially because tattooing in my eyes, other than the art it really is minor surgery! As a tattoo artist regardless if your are the all-seasoned master at creating amazing images on the skin, all tattoo artists are using a needle to inject foreign substances into the bodies biggest organ. The level of sanitation I would hold higher than that of a places that draws blood, since they are removing not adding. To add to that I've never heard of a two week crash course at blood drawing!

Let me start off with this...pain is much easier to deal with than an itch you cannot scratch! My new tattoo (just an outline so far) is INSANELY itchy! Other than lightly slapping it or putting more Aquophor on it what can you do to stop this insane itch!! I have a feeling it might be more then hairs growing back in than the tattoo itself since it is only an outline. Please help!
