The big question is, neat, water or ice.
I prefer mine neat....I like the burning feeling

I think its a lot more smooth than straight black label. Also the peet in Double Black is much more pronounced, which is kinda weird that its more smooth.
Better get some then!!!

Finally tried Jonnie Walker's "Double Black" scotch.
Holy shit. It was incredible. Strong, but not overbearing peet.
Sainsburys are selling this for £30 at the moment. How different is it to the normal black label?
I like Cardu, Singleton, Auchentosan...to be honest I drink Teachers too when I'm skint lol

Hi Ladies and Gents
I am after some help sourcing some ideas and images of the phoenix. I have obviously searched the internet for reference but it just throws up the same half dozen designs. I am really looking for a fantasy type image to go with a dragon face. I prefer the faces on the fantasy phoenix compared to the chicken like ones on other designs.
Any help or a point in the right direction for literature/images would be great.
Thanking you in advance.

Loving the site and especially this thread.
I am after some ideas and inspiration for a back piece I plan to start In Jan next year. The main feature will be a Japanese dragon face (black and grey) looking straight on, and I love Audrey Kawasaki images so was thinking of 3 faces (black and grey again) all at different angles above the dragon head with their hair draping down over the top of the dragon. Then a large phoenix (in colour as all my other work, chest, stomach, arms etc are in black and grey) from the back of my thigh coming up on to my lower back meeting the dragon face. The only problem I have is that I have a wolf face on my lower back (middle) I need to incorporate somehow. I don't really want to laser it as it has a good story to it but I also don't want it to ruin a great back piece. Any ideas would be great. Thanks in advance.

There's no way he 'loves' tattoos and doesn't have any. Period. Nothing you can say will change my mind on that. All you did was prove Bart's comment that most of the people tattooing who aren't heavily tattooed are in it for the money because they couldn't make it in other art related jobs. There's no way he would make more money as a photographer. Every asshole with a camera fancies themselves a photographer now a days, it's a very very hard field to make money in, unless you are truly talented.
You have very firm views on someone you don't know, have never seen their work or their photography???

I bet your bro does sick ink and sweet tatties all day long, and he may say he likes tattoos but actions speak louder than words, and getting tattooed shows your dedication to the craft. I don't know I think this topic has been exhausted and we have heard from some of the best tattooers in the world and they seem to have a similar opinion. I am not saying someone can't put on a good tattoo without tattoos, but clearly he doesn't love tattoos as much as you or he would have some.
Hey David he spends most of his life researching, drawing, and then applying to the skin so i'm pretty damn sure he loves them as much as me. He could make far more money in photography but he decided to own and run tattoo shop!
Anyway I agree its been exhausted. I see your from Portland are you a Dandys fan?

If you love tattoos you'll probably be covered in them, or atleast have the desire to be. I'm not even going to comment on what you said about "artist with no tats is the stronger person"
"Serenity now!" as Frank Costanza would say...
I have both sleeves, both ribs, chest and stomach covered plus a couple of other tats and am about to start my back. I've lost count how many hours etc. I love tattoos. The tattooist who inked them all also shares my love of the industry and everything else that goes with it. He hasn't a single tattoo.
Until you know someone like this you can't just say any tattooer who doesn't have any ink doesn't get the craft. There prob are some guys/girls out there who are only in it for the money but I bet that applies to some with ink too!

I fancy checking this place out. Only about 40 minutes on the train.
Not a huge range of beers to choose from, though.
I work just around the corner in Blackheath and the Mango beer in there is great!

I work 2 mins away from the Blackheath Zero degrees, they do some great wheat beer in there plus a very sumptuous mango beer.
Old speckled hen is my fav at the moment....thats not the cats name!

I personally don't think it would bother me if the artist had tattoos or not. The most important aspect is you get a piece you are happy with. You could get a crap tat from an covered artist or a great one from one that has little or no coverage. What would you go for?
Surely the artist with no tats is the stronger person because they feel they don't have to follow the lemmings and believe they have to be covered to be accepted in to the industry. They may love the business far more than covered artists.
Either way if you love tattoos you don't have to prove it to anyone else, he/she will know deep down.

This is a portrait of my boy Noah by Ray Wewerka (Flaming Art Tattoo) Caryford England. I love this tat as Ray actually took the photo of my boy months before I decided that was the pic for his portrait.
