Im glad the article got people talking. my point in writing it was because I was reading an article on the "iceman" and was blown away that the earliest piece of human skin we have preserved had tattoos on it, it really put into perspective how long we have been doing this to ourselves and how funny it is that what we consider the "old days" was only a few decades in a span of at least 7000 years.
As usual, some folks feel the need to split off into camps and some folks have implied that Im saying that flash is "bad" or "custom" is better buit anyone who has seen my work knows I do both with equal respect and the same goes for most tattooers these days.
It was about keeping the "big picture" in mind, not about what sort of tattooing was "best".

i would say they used the same reference. did a bunch of tracing and went for it. but if you notice shane moved the hand and put a mic in it. and if you further notice. the indentation from where that hand was is still in the dress.

lets be honest a monkey could of made those cuts. they definitely choose have the cast for the sole purpose of axing them. if you really put the worlds best ten artist on that show the judging would take weeks to figure out whos work was better. right now its a no brainer

I kinda only like getting tattooed by Fast tattooers. It's efficiency. Take your time with the drawing, then bust that tat out. I personally think it says a lot about a tattooer that can tattoo Good, and fast. It's like Illegal graffiti writers versus permission wall guys. One is working on the fly with the cops possibly breathing down their neck. One is taking his sweet time, looking at his sketchbook. That raw, real shit is always gonna be king in my book. Anyway. haven't seen the show. But I like the time limit thing. It will separate the hustlers from the fartists.

Yeah the overly hyped dram bull shit is freaking annoying, I think that Oliver needs more air time because he is a funny SOB and I think it would actually be more interesting if instead of competition it was just about the art and artists, but hey thats just me

You should try living in Australia!! I'm not knocking the quality of artists here because we have some amazing talent across all styles but it seems in the states from what I read on here, everywhere you go there is a top echelon of shops or artists that are really good at accomodating customers. Lucky people!! (:
