  1. Oh Shit, yes, Vyvyn, Jamie Eason, and I'm forgetting someone else.... These chicks were forces to be reckoned with, still are... And the thing I respect the most about all of them, was that they were not ones to ever complain about being female, they are good being who they are in a mans field, and giving people a run for their money....

The Three Above in my earlier post, I have actually met... this should be a forum thread.

  2. Deb, I would really like to take this blog you have, and take some of the points, and add a few more of my own... Along with what I have note wise, and recorded from artist discussions I have been recently recording... Not like a round table report, more like a 2%'r view on ethical, moral, and self preservation in this subject...

I would like to pick your brain a few times...

Great read, your heart is really big, it shows a lot in your writings, and your posts... Thanks for being an actual real female tattooer I can look up to. I'll add you to my list...

    Jackie Gresham, NOLA

Annette Larue, Tampa, and NOLA and

Deb Yarian... the Great White Alaskan Frontier... That's 3...

I feel your pain, as Oklahoma has only been legal 6 years, too many asshats and thats including the law makers.

  3. I have known Shannon and Rachel for YEARS.... It's important that we act on a whole one community level, and all respond accordingly, that way when it comes time to see if they have made profits from everyone else's shit, including our stuff, we will be able to make em pay or shut that site the fuck down.

  4. Most Corporate Conventions suck ass.... They treat the artists like cattle, exploiting the craft in order to pack in the people and make money not only from BOOTHS, and TICKETS, but smart ones also get cuts from Concessions, and Alcohol Sales.... Not to mention kick backs from sponsors, and other entities....

They need to make their money off that door, not the artists on the floor.

Mustink, Rock the Stink, Body Fart Expo, and Immersed in Stink... etc, we have drawn a line in the sand, and even though a few people are trying to sweet talk us into partaking again, it's not worth it....

  5. jennifer...You write well. you might keep a diary,as you are leading a beautiful and interesting life. someday you ll look back and laugh. I do have a history of good advice on this subject. PM if you need an explanation.

Thanks for the writing compliment... I like to write, so much so that I do keep a journal, and have sine I was 9 or so...

I sit back and laugh here and there about stuff that I can... I posted it up not wanting any pity, just to get it off my mind... I'll shoot you a PM, and I'm not looking to really make a change that would resonate, I just get tired of waking up feeling like I'm going to vomit (anxiety), for a week after something like this happens... I have a horrible anxiety/panic disorder, and I stopped taking medication for it, so places to vent, help...

It's just been a good chunk of time since I last had to deal with straight up prejudice around tattoos....

  6. Seth Ciferri, (spelling), um... he made a facebook post about if you love it and respect it so much why don't you leave it alone, and truly respect it?... It was a crazy long discussed thread, and it still has me in check as well, along with all the guys I look up to. And this runs the same parallel.

It's when you are trying to become a part and you just be.... then you truly are a part of it, and you're not trying. I don't know if that makes sense.?

Your post made me smile. I had to repost, sorry.

  7. You're lucky you're not a chick... I don't even tattoo, and it's the entire spectrum of redundant, and repetitive nonsense, yes they are curious, but at the same time, you are not in the shop, it's not tattoos and bbq... At the same time, I don't want to be that tattooed bitch that ruins one persons opinion of all tattooed people...

    so.... hum

When people are trying to crawl up Richard's ass or mine, I just become a turtle, I either act like I didn't hear em, or bury myself in a faux phone call, or if I have my laptop, which I carry a big purse, and usually the computer is under my arm, I just open it up and hand it to them with his website, and give em a little info, and then cut off the business...

If you appease and answer every question, it's a disservice to the self, as you are there to hang out, and relax, and maybe you don't wanna talk shop, however it is a personal service business, and if we aren't at least polite you risk loosing out on a possible client, or pissing a friend off...

Keep answers generic, and be polite, that's what suits me... But I have a high tolerance for dumb... If they really are interested they will come to you another time, as they too are being rude. I am surprised no one else has chimed in... everyone deals with this stuff I would think.

People are so fad driven I can't wait until the current zeitgeist of embracing tattoos for "cool points" somewhat subsides, in the meantime, business cards, and a website suffice, let em come in if they are serious... If not, hey, the BBQ was a tax write off, so bring beverages....

  8. It was fun... we saw a bunch of raccoons, like out hanging at a nearby Diner, after dinner/breakfast in the AM...and managed to get shit done, and buy a new truck, (for motorcycle related purposes)... (well new to us), but it was fun.

.....the hardest part is saying goodbye to people...

But that show is what Richard refers to as Prom... it's the best show going for a few years going... Power out and all, we had fun, sans room service bills, but, i gotta have my french press, and eggs in the am.

    I can't wait till 2011.
