As an Aplastic Anemia Survivor (so far) I would like to thank those who donate blood and platelets and those who want to but can't. It never goes to waste. THANK YOU!!!!

I generally agree with the comments above. Were they done by the same artist? Can't say I'm a big fan of the top one, the bottom is, IMHO, solid but not great. How long ago did you get them?
It's tough to judge placement - I assume you got the top one first. To me, when you are using a prime piece of your body's real estate, I think larger is better. That said, it's just my opinion.
The reality is this - we all over think our tattoos after we get them. We all see the flaws more than others do. No tattoo is perfect. The bottom line is that the real test is what you think of them, not what we think.
My suggestion would be to add around them. I'd look for a more talented artist(s) who can guide you with suggestions and then add some quality pieces. The addition of others will lessen the focus on the ones you might not be so happy with - assuming you aren't. Take the time to look through the pics and vids here. Search for some quality shops/artists. If you let us know where you live, people can make suggestions on great places to start looking. Instagram is you friend in checking out different artists and their work.

So, being a bone marrow donor does have certain requirements but the mad cow thing isn't one of them!
Basically, the goal is to find a cancer patients identical genetic twin through a process called Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing. HLA is a DNA-based tissue test used to match patients and donors for bone marrow transplants. HLA are proteins — or markers — found on most cells in your body. Your immune system uses these markers to recognize which cells belong in your body and which do not. The closer the match the better the chances the patient’s body will accept the donated cells and allow them to grow and make new healthy cells.
It's completely different and separate from giving blood! :)

    Hey @Devious6
Nope - the travel isn't an issue (and neither are tattoos). Their are separate bone marrow registries for each country, though. Here's one for you: the vast majority of military members are already on the list as they (and maybe you) were swabbed during your indoctrination. I don't know when they started swabbing though but it's an active policy now. We always ask if someone is military because we don't want them on the list twice.
You can get on the list until you are 55 then stay on it until your are 61. The age requirement is for the safety of the donor and doesn't have anything to do with the quality of your bone marrow. Since in 10% of the time, the donation may require a traditional marrow donation done under a general anesthesia, the concern is for the safety of the donor.
The good news is that if you ever want to run a swab event at your school, you know who to ask. :) Check out this video of a amazing young man named Haden who started swabbing at his school after he was diagnosed....he earned his angel wings last year. He was a tremendous young man.

There is a great deal of knowledge to be found here by people who are experienced in planning and getting tattoos. There are also some people who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Keep that in mind, Missyblue, and enjoy your weekend! :-)

OK I stand corrected, no tats here, just Tattoos , Got it ;)
And thanks for the Tattoo suggestions I think it needs something just not sure what, I like the black paws idea. ANY OTHER suggestions very welcomed.
And yes Gingerninja I have Aplastic Anemia, Remission since 2011ish, no marrow transplant due to no matches, I did it the old fashion way with Horse ATG and a LOT of transfusions.

I'm glad you and all the others agreed with me that it needed to pack a bit more punch.  Hopefully when you go back in August, your artist can hook you up with more bold ness to truly represent your loves.  Either way, you'll have a great before and even better after!

I go in for a 'touch up' August third. I love my new tattoo but I want it to be more bold, for lack of a better word. I think the Reason or representation of it is lost because the paws and shoes do not stand out. Does that make sense? I am so glad I found this page, reading the forums and looking at the gallery takes way too much of my time tho  lol
I hope all of you have a great day!

Tremendous news @Missyblue !!!  I have to agree with @Gingerninja and @oboogie - some black would help add punch...but it's natural to look at a piece of art and wonder how it could have been better. Certainly, live with it for awhile, research some ideas you may have/get and even consider what's the next tattoo. You may find that you'll decide to live with what you have and move on to the next tattoo.

@missyblue Great news on the remission! In the end, as long as you love what you have it doesn't matter, right? Same goes for whatever you want to call it... I think that your design would be been 'stronger' if the black line were bolder. But again, I wouldn't sweat it too much. You EARNED it.

At the risk of derailing my second thread of the day, the discussion of "tats" is interesting. I don't really care one way or the other if someone uses it, but it's not a term I'd use. But there's just something funny about the way Oliver uses it over and over and over in his LST interview that you can tell it's just him and his terminology. Something about it works.
It reminds me of the discussion of Freddy Corbin and "bro" in his Tattoo Age video. It's sort of a gross word that Freddy makes his own. Of course, I used to use bro jokingly and ironically, and now it's worked it's way into my regular vernacular...
    Regardless, welcome to the forum!

Welcome. I agree with my friend @Gingerninja—think about adding some solid black once it fully heals.

Again, welcome. Watercolor is hard to pull off...maybe at some point consider filling in the dog paws with solid black for some contrast. I'd live with it for a bit before doing anything. Do you have aplastic anemia? I do a lot of work with a blood cancer charity that promotes education on blood cancers/diseases and gets people on the National Bone Marrow Registry. :)

If it helps, here's one of the first LST threads I ran across when researching tattoo culture, reading will help new folks understand some in-jokes of the forum, and why some terms are preferred: https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/674-slang-terms-that-make-you-cringe/

Also, if anyone happens to be interested in general tattoo vocabulary, here's one of the ones I like: http://www.inkedmag.com/tattoo-lingo/

Hey there!  Nice "tat", "tattoo", "ink", and other terms that may or may not be allowed to be spoken in these here parts.  I didn't notice a glossary in the rules, and believe me I looked.
As far as your "three loves", I'd only wished it packed more punch--only my opinion.  The watercolor splatter looks very dainty for your representations.  It's still pretty though.
