Anytime you have a tattoo that’s that small and composed only of a few lines, many of which are either straight or circular, you are going to see flaws. There is no “touch up” that’s going to make it look any better. It would more than likely ruin it altogether. My advice would be to live with it awhile and see if it grows on you. IMHO the best way to protect it would be to skip exercise classes until it’s a little more healed. I don’t go to the gym or do any type of intentional exercising until it’s about a week and a half to 2 weeks healed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So don’t watch it heal so closely. The only real communality in healing tattoos is that it takes time. Give it a month or two. Hands are delicate areas and move a lot and tend to take longer to heal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If it were me I wouldn’t be putting ointment or any heavy lotions on it at this point. Those are to avoid heavy scabbing. Looks like you are already scabbing heavily. Be careful showering and don’t smother it or you run the risk of swelling the scabs and them falling off early. Probably going to take longer to heal and you may need a touch up. You are right it’s not accurate or a good way of comparing cost and I honestly thought goods and services in the U.S. and South Africa were closer. 600-800 seems like a pretty normal shop minimum after looking at a few well reviewed shops. I’d see what the shop says about it. It really doesn’t look like it was applied well from the pictures. As long as it’s no longer open I’d try putting some aloe on it to help with the scarring. In the U.S. that amounts to about $45. That would qualify as a cheap tattoo. You very much get what you pay for. Just because someone owns the shop doesn’t mean they are a good tattooer either. You really should be looking at portfolios and healed work as well. You could try putting fresh aloe on it from the plant if you have access to some to help minimize scarring. Go to an artist you trust and let them draw on you. Go in with a loose, general idea and give them enough freedom to make something work. I’d expect geometric patterns to be a bit more difficult for a cover up because you’ll need to completely cover or utilize the existing lines. If it’s just those little areas I wouldn’t worry too much about it. The tattoo is still very new. If it’s obviously not infected I don’t see the reason for putting antiseptic on an already irritated section of skin. If it were me, I’d leave it be and let it heal and settle then see about touching the spot up if some of the ink fell out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

An “artist” didn’t do that. No way it was done in a legitimate tattoo shop either. Do yourself a favor and go to a real tattooer for the cover up. I hope whoever did this used sterile equipment at least. You’re lucky if all you got was a crappy tattoo out of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pick an artist based on their portfolio matching the style of tattoo you want not necessarily subject matter. Know that whatever you are imagining will need to be adjusted at least some to be adapted into a tattoo. Bring the artist references. The more specific you want your tattoo the more references you should bring. Bring references for subject matter as well as tattoo style. Bring references you like and maybe some you don’t so you can talk through it with the artist. Be open to suggestions from the artist as well.
