Hello

welcome!

I'd be happy to try to direct you to a decent artist in your area. Where might that be?

Welcome.
There are a zillion very competent tattoo artists in the LA area. Do you have a particular style of tattoo you want?

Hiya, Cadena - from a fellow Texan (sort of).
I won't recommend ideas as much as advise you to become familiar with the various styles of tattoo artwork. Educate yourself to what is possible in this media (almost anything) and locate the artists whose style also speaks to you (many started off as street artists). You can eventually decide upon and bring subject matter and references. The trick is locating the best artist to pull off your vision.

Welcome.
I know one in Hawaii, but I'm sure someone else here will be able to chime in on socal or midcal artists that do historical tribal.
On the other hand, whatever you get will mean to you just what you want it to. Pick a design (tribal or not) that speaks to you.

Not bad, Dimpsy. Welcome.

I've never done anything like this and I need to figure out exactly how I'm going to do it, but it should be a lot of fun.
Judging from my past attendance at other beer tastings, you will also have the distinct advantage of teaching tipsy students. Typically they are quite forgiving, as long as your resource material continues to flow.

Cool, and welcome!!

Are you a fan of the bio-mechanical style of art?
A great artist who specializes in that could really make your idea work, if you're into it . . .

If you don't want to go bold (ie: black), consider light grey. White often turns into some shade of yellow-brown.

Appointment on Thursday with Joey Ortega at Triple Crown Tattoo in Austin for a Raven Tattoo on my ribs Thursday. Super nervous.
Joey does excellent birds - but usually very colorful. I'm anxious to see something which is more traditionally dark.
