  1. Been kinda forgetful/lazy to post in this thread. If you follow me on IG, then these are not new. I've gotten these since the Rassier baby heads. Tuesday flash from Candi Kinyobi at Tuesday Tattoo in San Francisco, CA. Under the tutelage of Jesse Tuesday (who's a badass tattooer that's totally under the radar). Ultimate sad girl with sad heart from happy tattooer and fellow LST'er Carolyn LeBourgeois @cltattooing at FTW Tattoo in Oakland, CA. Tengu from Stewart Robson at Black Heart Tattoo in San Francisco, CA. Was able to nab a cancellation thanks to Ross "INSIDE SCOOP" Hogg. I unfollowed a bunch of tattooers on IG, so I totally wouldn't have known about this. Thanks again @hogg!
  2. I'll more than likely be wearing a Quiet Life camp hat, can't miss it. Glasses too. More than likely a black shirt. If you follow me on IG (@damncabs), I look like that. Not a crying Drake though. My appointment is at 5pm on Saturday. I can only make it to one day. Was gonna try to score a Koji walk up, but getting to the convention before doors open and waiting for my 5pm appointment might be too big a gap. - - - Updated - - - What day you gonna be there Lance?
  3. I should have got a peony. I fucked it all up!
  4. Agreed completely with this. Dan Gilsdorf is my favorite tattooer. I really should fly out there and get something. Cheyenne Sawyer is killing it too. I also want tattoos from Jeff P and Ross over at Art Work Rebels too. Portland's got lots of good tattooers.
  5. It's a real classic look to have one tattooer do everything. I no longer can do that, so I try to live vicariously through others. I think it's rare to find someone that wants one tattooer to do an entire cohesive body suit. It goes back to that Cripwell bodysuit. Right now, Mikey Holmes is looking for people with no tattoos that want to get a body suit. I myself want Jason Phillips to do my entire front. While it's not an entire bodysuit, I think an entire front by one artist will look good. But I know part of the fun is collecting from as many tattooers as you can. - - - Updated - - - I knew I recognized that Erl tattoo. Nice one!!
  6. I kinda hope you get tattooed only by Greg. A Greg bodysuit! The elbow sucks so hard. But the second elbow isn't as bad. True story.
  7. Au natural, baby. Just sleep the night before, a good meal before hand, and a Gatorade.
  8. Yeah, I've seen some rad bodysuits with dudes and beer guts for sure. I think I'm more mindful not to put a lady head on there so her face doesn't get fat too, haha.
  9. I'm thinking about getting something from him at the SFO Convention. Am I the only one that likes to put deposits down because it helps me feel like I'm paying less for the tattoo at the end? A lot of times, tattooers will tell me a deposit is not necessary, but I'll insist that I put a deposit down for my own weird self-imposed rules.
  10. The main thing I got really into because of tattooing is the art of sign painting. I don't paint signs myself (yet), but it's so fascinating to me to see Gary Martin in ATX and Ken Davis here in the Bay Area perfect their craft. Also, like others have said, I want to start eating healthier and work out harder because of tattooing. I don't have any tattoos on my belly (yet), but when I get to that point I want to make sure I'm in good shape. The stomach is the only part of my body that could go through some drastic changes throughout my life. I've thought about what designs would work on a giant beer gut, even though I hope to not get to that level. I've also grown to appreciate low-rider oldies, because it gets played often at Temple.
  11. Yeah Mots! You made it to the East Coast!
  12. I hear ya loud and clear. I'm missing out on a potential Portland trip and a potential Brooklyn trip because of tattoos. So many heavy hitters, it's ridiculous. I do have one appointment booked, but I'm gonna try my luck and score a walk-up as well.
  13. Thinking about trying out Lush Dream Cream. I hear good things. Or I may just stick to my tried and true Eucerin.
  14. Or maybe even Joe Ellis? He's in Leeds. Pretty similar style.
  15. If you don't want to wait till next year, maybe a flight to Amsterdam? I could see Salon Serpent doing similar work to Paul. Angelique, Matt, Kim would do a killer job, IMO. Not exactly like Paul, though.
  16. I say find a tattooer that you are really into, like I mean really into. Like every single tattoo they do is fantastic. Then put a deposit down for that tattooer. I always have really general ideas and placements in mind, then let the tattooer do the rest. My .02
  17. Just bought the Family Business book for 10 bucks. Currently reading "Wear Your Dreams" by Hardy.
  18. Yeah you told me you hate Tatts McGee's work and I nearly lost it.
  19. Great thread, btw. Forrest Cavacco... that dude is the man. I wasn't even supposed to get tattooed by him. Right place, right time. He provided one of the best tattoo experiences ever. He wouldn't even let me tip him. It's probably one of my most basic tattoos ever (Jensen sailor lady head, from a guy that's typically more known for his Japanese), but it's also one of my most favorite tattoos ever. At the time, I thought I was getting too many lady heads, but my weird self-imposed "tattoo rule book" has been thrown out the window. I actually got yet another lady head last week. Is he a name? Some would say yes. Some may not even know who he is. But that's all irrelevant. All that matters to me is that the tattoo looks great and the experience was top notch. Totally agree with this. Knowing what I know now, if I could do it all over again, I would have gotten all black and grey traditional. But I'm still stoked on my color tattoos. As of right now, I have zero plans to cover anything up. I have some stuff that's not technically sound, and it used to bother me. Nowadays @taaarro mentioned this quote that totally resonates with me, "Any imperfections will add to its beauty." It's been said countless times in tattooing (I first heard it from Tomas Garcia), and it totally works for me. Going back to the OP, Eddy Deutsche still crushes it, IMO. Granted, I don't have older Eddy work to compare it to in person, and this is the only Eddy tattoo I have. But I've seen other Eddy pieces done in person recently, and it's still pretty amazing. I'm now curious to hear what everyone's criteria is for choosing their next tattooer. Maybe that should be for another thread.
  20. I'm only on Page 2, but I had to chime in. I just saw some Derrick Snodgrass tattoos walk in, and they look sooooo good. The orange fell out in the flowers, but I'm still into it. It's got that "soul" that everyone's talking about. I actually can't wait for my tattoos to age and and look old. I'm a weirdo.
