  1. What a great story about the 101 year old woman.

I was 21 for my first tattoo. I had several done in my 20's, then only one in my 30's and in the last year I've accelerated at 41. Sure, one of my old ones in particular is not "in fashion", but whatever, it's part of the story and I'm not embarrassed by it. In the same breath, I'm glad I waited to get bigger stuff.

  2. Dont know, dont care. No one is that much of an individual, we arent all bright and shiney stars. I get tattooed because I want to and I like it and if everyone wants to do it then fine, Im still getting tattooed.

I have tons of dots in some of my tattoos, the annoying part about it being trendy is the people who dont like them vocalize about them as if I care. So the backlash ultimately is as annoying as the trend.

    I like this.

My newer tattoos are dot work; if anyone thinks it's trendy, so be it. I'll just keeping getting tattoos of what I like.

I do think the internet makes trends/ideas spread faster. When I got my first tattoo, there was no internet, no Tumblr, no Facebook.

  3. I started getting tattooed as a young woman. There are lots of places to start getting tattooed without being visible in a professional setting. I started with areas that are easily covered (the back) and slowly added more visible ones over the years (and years). People tend to be judge-y, but you don't live your life for them because it will always be something.

And you can't worry about what your future husband will think; hell, I have a "squidthong" and still found love.

  4. I hope it's okay bringing a month old thread back, but this 4th installment is my favorite and I think people should see it (along with the rest of the episodes too!). I got to meet Marcus when I was being tattooed at Full Circle by Gemma Pariente. I geeked out and blurted "I love your Gypsy Gentlemen episodes!" and he was super cool about it . I would love to be tattooed him and Bill Canales (who really is one of the humblest, most talented guys out there - the pieces I saw him working one were off the charts amazing).

  5. I can deal with stares pretty well and can usually tell the difference between interested vs a$$hole stares. I just smile and go about my business.

I've only had one very negative reaction where a man took time out his day to tell me I "was ruined! Tattoos are for sailors and prostitutes!" . He was so angry. I thanked him for his "insight", several other customers told him to shut it.

  6. Greetings! I've been ghosting the forum for awhile now, learned lots and laughed some too.

I'm not new to tattoo, being an early adopter of the "lower back tattoo" in the early 90's. I had a few other pieces since then, with long lags in between, then kicked it up in the last year getting a 3/4 sleeve and sizable thigh piece. I have more in plans, of course. I have lots more to learn and hopefully, some to contribute.
