  1. I like that story! How gratifying - - - Updated - - - Very cool! My nephew was raised in the horse racing community - by his grandfather - a race horse trainer. Very interesting [color= - - - Updated - - - Congratulations
  2. Well THANK YOU!!! Legend in my own mind maybe, no- not even there.
  3. I wanted to apologize and give an explanation about something that has been bothering me. I realize my presence here has been quite scarce in recent months, nonexistent, really. When this forum first began, I was excited to participate- as there was not another forum that I wished to be part of. So, I looked forward to being a part of this one. In the beginning I enjoyed the, forum, blogs, interviews and participants and online comeraderie of both tattooists and non tattooists alike. But, what I found happening after awhile, was that my replies and responses were very often, and increasingly defensive and hostile. So,moderators- for that I apologize. I should have found a way to communicate my thoughts and opinions ( as a tattooer of 30 yrs + ) to tattooers and non tattooers alike. Looking forward to participating again Thanks
  4. I think I have more of an issue with the "human canvases" than any other issue. I've had clients empathize with them- over poorly done tattoos etc., but my thinking is - they get what they ask for. They voluntarily submit to being on the show without knowing which tattooist they will get tattooed by, and often don't even have much of a say about what they are getting. So they get what they get and deserve it, imo! Really, just so they can be on tv? Why don't they support their local tattooers? I would not have much sympathy if one of my customers went on tv and was less than pleased with their tattoo.
  5. Our shop is located right across from our children's elementary school.A public- State of Alaska, board of education school. We have been invited to participate in a display, question/ answer period for the past 2 years , and have attended. I got the impression , but couldn't hear the video, that his children attend some sort of Fundamental ( Christian?) school. If that is the case, why would he even support and choose to have his children go to a school, whose ideas differ so greatly from his own. We support our local schools and military and athletic teams etc. One year we donated a gift certificate and t shirt to the High School grad blast. The following year, the volunteer organizer said that because of parent complaints ( about promoting tattooing) they only wanted cash or tshirts vs gift certificates, to which we replied- absolutely not! We weren't going to support any group or organization which did not support us-- and I voiced my complaint to the head organizer. We received an apology and they graciously accepted our gift certificates. Let parent's counsel their own children-- not everybody's
  6. Interestingly enough, nobody ever asks me about my tattoos. Even though my visible ones are very pretty and I'm a pretty friendly and out going person people just don't approach me.

  14. It's not a drawing contest- it's a tattooing contest----- and a visually attractive and commercially marketable contest as well. I was talking to my husband after watching the result portion of a few of the episodes, and based on the work shown I felt confident that I could "out tattoo" them so to speak. And he pointed out that I would never get chosen for the show because of a number of factors, the number one being that i'm not relevant in today's market. I'm old(er), chubbier and less model like than the participants. These factors may fly with a male contestant or judge, but never a female. There goes my hundred grand ):
