and Perez- god I haven't listened to Uncle Tupelo in ages. Gotta put some of that on. Still Feel Gone is a great album.

  2. this is all you need to know about ICP...

"fucking magnets- how do they work?" hahahahahahaha

I've had friends tell me stories about juggaloes they've met. Apparently they've got a bunch of catch phrases like "down with the clown til i'm 6 feet underground" and shit like that

  3. mine are gay there on the inside and say kindness facing me. i have had them for 12 years or so franky orange did them when he worked at jinx proof god knows where he is now.. my favorite one is rootbeer which this chick named mary had in oakland and i was so jelouse i wanted to choke her

My buddy Wayne has root beer on the finger knuckles too with little wood barrels/kegs on the thumb knuckles

  4. The area where the ankle meets the foot was fucking brutal. I had a really easy time with my elbows and my chest was like dozing on a tropical fucking beach with a drink compared to a lot of other spots.

ugh just feeling that spot you're describing and I can only imagine the pain. it's so sensitive and I never realized it til now. achilles tendon hurt like a mofo for me so that doesn't surprise me that that spot hurts too.

and so that i'm not completely off topic here- forearms are cake. inner arm was really not as bad for me as people make it out to be- until it hits that weird point of the elbow or your armpit. totally depends on your nerve endings. whoever discussed stress/focus/eating/sleeping hit the nail on the head too.

  5. just saw this gem over on Tim Hendricks' blog. Note as he very clearly states that HE DID NOT DO THIS TATTOO. Just reposting a repost over here that's relevant to this thread...

According to his blog, Tim's thoughts on visual tattoos can be summarized in this quote "One of those many rules and code of tattoo ethics was this, 'we’re in the business of beautifying bodies not ruining lives' "

  6. I'm not a tattoo artist but it seems like there's no credibility that way. If you're passionate about painting you'd own paintings. If you're passionate about tattooing you'd have tattoos. Obviously it's nothing but a business venture to you then if you're nothing but blank skin and you're encroaching on good people's livelihoods and careers.

I mean hell, at least get the standard warped tour visible tattoos and fake it ;)

  7. I hate when people moan about a song. Like it's really the worst three minutes of their lives. If it's a customer that complains I tell them they don't have to listen to it. I'll call them back into the shop when the songs over.

fuck man I've sat through some stupid shit while getting tattooed. I'm not going there to listen to music. I've got a record player and ipod and all that. Hell, usually you're talking anyways during a session.

  8. I was working in this little streetshop a few years back that was filled with tons of crappy flash, one dead ass winter day, my co-worker and I each picked the 3 craziest/funniest/shittiest pieces we could find, made copies, wadded them up, threw them in a cup, shook it and drew one each.

I got a similar story. Killing time in the shop my buddy used to work at in Vegas and we stumbled upon this gem (aka the stupidest flash in the shop). Lo and behold it ended up on my skin. The "2012" was just a freehand add-on cuz we started joking about the apocolaypse and saying these space monkeys from the future are what 2012 is really going to be about.

  9. I've had great success with yoga as well. I've taken classes in several styles over the years. If you check out different instructors, you can kind of tell who is more or less on the spiritual trip. The last few years I've done less yoga and more weight training, and mountain hiking combined with a focused diet. I think diet is number one, then your choice of activity. I've logged a lot of hours running and have done a half-marathon. I find running a bit hard on the body but the cardio rush is awesome. I hope to more fully commit to yoga in the future because I find it to be( and excuse the new-age lingo) , holistic. It works the body from every angle. It also activates hormonal activity which can lead to the whole euphoric/spiritual. feeling. Compassion in my estimation is not exclusive to religion or the idea of"god". And if you practice yoga you will realize your own weakness, thus allowing for more "compassion" when dealing with others. And it will create more self critique in your own life. wow that sounds sappy! But hey , when I was a fat and hating tattooer, I made lesser tattoos and I made less money. Good food in the right proportions, daily exercise, and good family life makes me an all around better tattooer with virtually no physical pain ever! And I can't stand touchy feely yoga classes. to me its science not emotion. Emotional imbalance is directly related to nutrition and exercise. And of course dealing with a world of morons. But hey we are all beacons and we will draw in others like ourselves based on our own activity. I think I'm gonna puke now.

This sounds like it could have been paraphrased from my shrink. Definitely some good concepts touched upon here Dean. It's crazy how much the self basics of diet, exercise, balance, and self-compassion correlate to your interactions with the outside world as well.

  10. that I introduce myself. I haven't posted anything here because the concept of "introducing" yourself to people on the internet seems a little strange to me. But seeing as I'll probably be meeting some of y'all at the upcoming SFO convention and you all seem pretty cool so far, ah what the hell!

Anyways, I live in the great Oakland, CA and am into art and food in both of their many variations. I can go on and on about any visual art or music or bbq or mexican food. Mmmmmm. If anybody cares to give me the secret to good refried beans that's my newest recipe I'm trying to perfect. And for art, for those of you who live in LA I highly recommend you go to this FREE exhibit at the Getty Center. I just went last month and it was the most poignant photograpy I've seen in a long time. In particular, Sebastião Salgado's work was mind-blowing. The pictures you get from googling his name do not do him justice.

See you guys around the board if not at the upcoming convention!
