Watched last night. And everyone who said "Stop talking about TLC, stop going ape shit, you're just giving them more power," were absolutely right. This should be the response. This should be the well-crafted answer to their shit show shitshow.. Beautifully done and exceedingly inspiring for us lay people so I can only imagine that it's even more positive for you tattooers. Ten thousand thank yous to Marcus Kuhn and for everyone involved. I hope this sets a new bar.

i kind of feel like the people who ask where to get it so it hurts the least shouldn't be getting it at all...
like someone mentioned earlier, the least painful place for a tattoo is on someone else!

Well, I've been reading the replies here, and normally I'd probably start to lean towards your ideas of just leaving the whole thing alone, never mentioning it at all. However, since changing my Facebook picture, about six people I know who aren't too knowledgeable about tattoos have asked me what it's about- three of them being people who were going to make appointments at the local studios that aren't much better than Lisa's "school". I wouldn't have normally talked to them (four were people from high school!) so it was cool that that's opened up a little discussion with them and probably saved their skin from the laser treatment place.
A silver lining, even if it is a small one, is always good.

Here's a new one from me! This was done just yesterday, so my arm is pretty swollen. It's by Thomas Morgan, who is just finishing a guest spot in Inkslingers in Newcastle. I think he told me he'll be in Paris next, so if you live near there, I'd recommend getting some work from him!
Oh yeah, and I kind of thought this was obvious (I'm sure it will be to you guys), but since a couple of friends have asked me- the gypsy head isn't from yesterday- Ian Parkin did that, and it looks FAR better when my arm isn't at a funny angle :P
Anyway, here you go, sorry for the bad picture. I never did put that picture of my tattoo from Charlie on here, did I? If anyone wants to see it, I'll gladly put that up too :)

hey gougetheeyes, so i found pt 2 and 3 on your blog, was pt 1 in the mag and why youve not posted it? either way great read, i am incredibly flattered he said those things about my work. i have had the pleasure to see some of his work in the flesh on random visitors of the shop and they are full of cleverness without looking cluttered, he is one of my favorite tattooers out there and it's sad to know a lot of customers i tattoo aren't even aware of his work (thats also the case with ed hardy and even scott!)

I gave in and watched it before finishing even half of today's work. It was worth it. May have to have a tattoo show binge like Jade later on tonight, haha.
We need more shows like this, I think it would be great! The interviews here, and these shows, already make me happy, but they make me want to see more too. My best friend is a producer- one day I'm going to MAKE him work with some tattooers to see what they come up with, for my own selfish needs.

Finished work at 8am this morning after an 10 hour night shift. Had something to eat then watched Tattoo Age again followed by The Gipsy Gengleman New York City and the Marcus Kuhn interview. Now I can't sleep. Just as well it was my last shift for the week. Great way to start the weekend though.

Same here mate- in fact, if I could just spend a few months in New York, that would be grand. A lot of my favourite studios seem to be either there or not too far.
